were able to come and participate in the workshops with their children.

Procedures for School Closure due to Unforeseen Circumstances

In the event of unforeseen circumstances a decision may be made to close the School, the safety of the pupils and staff is paramount and a decision to close would only be made on the grounds of Health and Safety. We normally do this in consultation with other local schools.

The following procedure will be put into place:

Penalty Notice

The Government has given Local Education Authorities the power to issue fixed penalty notices where parents or carers are considered capable of but unwilling to ensure their child attends school regularly. The Anti-Social Behaviour Act introduced

those additional powers in February 2004.

Penalty notices are aimed at “unauthorised absences” – times when a child misses school without a valid reason (or without permission from the school) or if a child is regularly late getting into school.

Parents could also be issued with a Penalty Notice if they take their child on holiday in term-time.

The aim of the Penalty Notice is to improve parents’ efforts in getting children to attend school.

School Sibling & Re-Take Photographs.

Tempest will be in school again on Thursday 7th November for re-takes and photographs of children

who have siblings in the school.

Year 4

Year 4 have been looking at Non-chronological reports in English and have used their new knowledge from Topic lessons to help

plan and write their reports. They have now completed Place Value in Maths and have begun exploring mental and written methods

for solving addition and subtraction calculations. In Topic lessons the children have been investigating Boudicca and how

the ancient Roman changed life in Britian.

Year 6

As part of their topic and culture week, Year 6 are organising and will be presenting a heritage banquet for parents

which will include cultural dishes to celebrate the diversity of cultures in their class and across their year group.

Year 3

Year 3 have been exploring their topic “Willenhall to Venice”. They have looked closely at both locations, identifying similarities and

differences between the two. Children have written their own holiday brochures persuading their audience to visit Venice. They have

looked at where both locations are on the map in Geography. In History, they have looked at the lives of canal children in Willenhall.

This topic has also linked into their Art work where they have looked at an artist called Lowry and produced their own factories in his

style of art.

Year 2

During October, Year 2 have created their own dinosaur habitats! Children thought carefully about what these habitats would look

like and the finished products look amazing in the atrium! They also enjoyed Black History month by investigating famous people

and also took part in an African dance workshop. Even our parents enjoyed participating!

Nursery / Reception

Nursery children have been learning lots about the world we live in. We have learnt about space and built our own rocket to go to the moon.

We have also learnt about Autumn and all the changes that we can see around us.

Reception have been learning all about Black History. We have learnt about why Martin Luther King is important and what his dream was.

We enjoyed writing our own dreams, taking part in African dancing and making traditional necklaces.

Year 1

During Autumn half term, Year 1 have been developing first hand experiences of the seaside and they have been developing their

knowledge about the Victorian era. The children have been learning about post cards and they have written their own.

Year 5

The children have enjoyed taking part in a Science Swap lesson with Y2 during Space Week. The theme was 'Space' and the Science question was about their understanding of gravity. It was lovely to see Year 5 children helping and supporting Year 2. They watched a clip of the scientific experiment about the force of gravity being carried out on the moon and were amazed that the two objects (heavy object and feather) hit the ground at the same time. The children were then eager to carry out their own experiments in class and question why the two objects did not hit the ground at the same time. It was an enjoyable experience for both year groups
