“Believe you can and you’re half way there”

ENDEAVOUR TOWARDS EVOLUTION The Model United Nations is a forum designed to let our voices be heard. The school

hosted the three day mega event, Inter School MUN 2017 in the school premises from

4th -6th May‟2017. The forum provide the similar opportunity to the future learders to

comes forward through dialogue and diplomacy. The chief guest , Mr Anil Trigunayat,

former ambassador to Jordon , Libiya, Malta and the guest of honour , Mr. Dhirender

Bhatnagar , Secretary General CUCAI, were mesmerized to see the zeal and creativity of

today‟s generation. They greatly appreciated the efforts put in by more than 150

participants from almost 15 schools across Delhi.They said, „ There are no elevators to

success; you need to take the stairs,”

ORIENTATION DAY: The First Step Towards The leap of Learning . Orientation Day ceremony was held for the parents of new entrants to the school on 10th May 2017 which was adorned by the Management Committee of the School. The parents were oriented about the school parent communication system-Litchi & Iguardian as well as Health Monitoring Programs-The Health Champs. The Principal stated that,” Ours is a school in which relationships are of prime importance. We have a firm belief in education beyond books reverberating with lifelong learning.”

GREEN HOPE ! The Eco Warriors of the school were all geared up for the Tree Plantation Drive in the school premises on Monday, 24th July 2017. The Guest of Honour Dr. B.C.Sabata, Sr.Scientific Officer, Deptt. Of Environment, Govt. of NCT Delhi, Special invitee Dr. Siddhartha Gautam, Principal Ms. Anupama Chopra,Vice Principal and teacher coordinators also highlighted the importance of trees in our lives . He addressed the students and said, “Unless we are not sincere in respecting our trees; we cannot have a healthy world.”

SPECIAL ASSEMBLIES

MOTHER’S MAKE LIFE BEAUTIFUL

The students presented an ode to our mothers with a beautiful song presentation and a skit that well brought out the essence of the day on 12th May 2017. The skit uintessentially showcased the importance of mother and emphasized on the fact that we should be grateful with what God has bestowed upon us. Prisha Khanna of class V A recited a poem 'My loving Mother' and took us all to the realms of the purest form of love. THE FIRST WEALTH IS HEALTH

There are several health related evil problems that have a global know-how. Tobacco usage is

one such crucial concern which has threatened the development of nations worldwide. Anti

Tobacco Day , special assembly was observed on 28th

April 2017. To reinforce the essence ,

special 'Anti-Tobacco' pledge was taken in the school assembly. The Principal stated " I

recognize tobacco as the greatest monster of all time killing millions across the globe. Tobacco

singly causes several killer diseases such as lung cancer and cardiovascular diseases’ She

motivated the students to spread awareness about the hazards of tobacco and to abstain from the

usage.

INTER HOUSE COMPETITION “Yearning to Lead”

While most of us are dreaming of success; winners wake up to work hard to achieve it. The first quarter saw our Goenkan toiling hard to out shine themselves. Go down deep enough into anything and you will find Mathematics! An Inter-House Competition „Tangrams-A Fun Way

to Work Problem Solving and Visual Spatial Skills' was held on 3rd May 2017 for classes III-V . The activity aimed at honing the creative and analytical skills of the students. Students made different objects and beautiful sceneries using tangrams. It was a great learning experience for the students .

Students of classes IX-XII participated in Inter House Mathematics Quiz with great gusto and ardour. Teresa House was declared the winner with Radhakrishnan House on the II place.

“Somewhere behind a successful sportsperson, besides the hour of practice and the coaches who pushed him/her is a child who fell in love with the game and never looked back.”

Inter House Basketball Competition 2017-18 was conducted from 26/04/2017 to 12/05/2017 for the Boys & Girls

Sub Juniors (Grade 3 to 5) Age Group: Radhakrishnan house won the 1st Position and Tagore House won the 2nd position in the Boys category. Tagore house won the 1st Position and Vivekananda House won the 2nd position in the Girls category. Juniors (Grade 6 to 8) Age Group: Radhakrishnan house won the 1st

Position and Vivekananda House won the 2nd position in the Boys category. Radhakrishnan house won the 1st Position and Teresa House won the 2nd position in the Girls category. Seniors (Grade 9 to 12) Age Group: Radhakrishnan house won the 1st Position and Vivekananda House won the 2nd position in the Boys category. Vivekananda house won the 1st Position and Tagore House won the 2nd position in the Girls category. Overall Result – Radhakrisnan House won the overall champion with 20 points (4 Gold) & Vivekananda House won the 2nd Position with 14 Points (1 Gold & 3 Silver).

Competition was held on 12th July 2017 for classes III-VThe students came up with brilliant ideas and showcased their creativity in an innovative way which was enriched with social values.

An Inter House Scientoon Competition was organised for classes VI-VIII with the theme-'Your Food is the Secret' Scientoons are the cartoons based on scientific concepts or ideas in a humorous and thought provoking way

SUMMER CAMP

“Boundless sunshine, promising weather, an excuse to have fun makes the summer camp the

greatest time of the year.”

Summer Camp was organised from 18th May 2017-9th June 2017 in the school premises. The

camp hosted various sports activities like Skating, Splasher‟s Pool, Tennis, Basket Ball, Cricket,

Table Tennis, Chess, Gym /Fitness. The central idea behind the summer camp was to foster

each student with the skill that would stand them in a good stead as they grow. The Summer

Camp culminated with a grand celebration. Each student was felicitated with a certificate of

appreciation.

An Adventure Galore: Not all classrooms have four walls

Parle Biscuit Factory , Bahadurgarh

The students of class VI learnt the nuisances of their most favourite biscuits are made in the factory.

2 15th May 2017

Yakult Factory , Sonepat Students of class III had a fun and an informative excursion to the factory where they learnt about Yakult and the benefits of drinking it. The process of making Yakult made this short visit truly worthwhile.

3 30th May 2017-3rd June 2017

Jungle Retreat , Bhowali 40 students of classes VI-VIII had a four day adventure tour with thrilling exploration with activities like Rappelling, Survival Trek, Night Trek,Guirella Warfare etc. Their stay in camps and real adventures got them closer to nature. The four day tour culminated with bonfire and everlasting memories.

4 5th June 2017-9th June 2017

Thangdar Around 50 students of classes IX-XII packed their backs to experience the best days of their lives with a breathtaking view of the camp sight. Fun Activities like Flying Fox, Burma Bridge, Cross Net, Vertical Ladder etc. brought them closer to nature.

5 15th July 2017

Gandhi Museum The students of Class V visited the museum to get glimpses into Gandhiji's life. Audio Visual aids helped them to learn Gandhi Ji‟s messages. The preserved documents and artifacts left them all in awe.

6 21st July 2017

Karkardooma Court The students of class XI had an educational visit to witness Live court proceedings in

Labour court, e-court, Fast track court & Juvenile Court. The students were elated to get the experience which was quite different to what they would have perceived. The students were addressed by Mrs. Nisha Saxena who is the Additional Sessions Judge(ASJ) Mediations & Mr. Akash Jain , Secretary (Shahdara) Delhi Legal Services Aid. Both the experts answered all the queries of the students with utter patience and confidence. And also discussed about '' Careers in Law''. It was one of the memorable experiences that these ''Budding

professionals'' had.

facilitated with STUDENT OF THE

YEAR AWARD (2016-17) on 8th March 2017 from Times of India for excellence in academic and co-curricular activities.

The students of Class IX and Interact club volunteers participated in an event organised by Rotary Club of Delhi at LTG Auditorium to celebrate Women's Day on11th March 2017. Students presented a Play On Drug Abuse (Antamanthan-'Ek Koshish'.

14 students got distinction in International Assessment for Indian Schools on 27th March 2017 in different subjects. (Rachit Suri III-A, Sankalp Mangla III-B, Siddharth Jain III-A, Varun Daga III-B, Chirajay Aggarwal IX-A, Atishae Jain X-B, Chaitanya Giri XI-A, Vaasu Rawat XI-A for Mathematics), (Sankalp Mangla III-B, Siddharth Jain III-A, Lavanya Mangla VII-B, Chaitanya Giri XI-A for science), (Aarini Gupta IV-C for English) and in Digital technologies (Arnav Jain III-A).

Jagmeet Kaur of Class X-B participated in BSNL-Chamunda All India Open AITA Championship Series organised by Chamunda Tennis Academy, Karnal-Haryana on 3rd April 2017 and was declared Winner. She was also declared Runner up in U-18

Girls Championship organised by Pro Star Academy, Gurgaon on 27th March 2017.

Tashiya Singh of Class V-B participated in 1st Mini & Sub Junior North West Delhi Open Fencing Championship organised

by Vikramaditya College in association with North West Delhi District Fencing Association on 10th April 2017. She secured Second Position in U-12 and U-14 category.

20 students participated in Indian Group Song with Musical Orchestration at the Inter School „GOENKAN GRANDEUR‟ 2017-18 at G.D. Goenka Public School, Vasant Kunj and secured II position.

38 students participated in 'Goenkan

Escaparte..a step to matreyi' at GDGPS, Gzb on 9th May 2017and our Goenkans brought laurels to the school by securing II position in Fashion Show.

Tennis Competition Jr. group on 13th July 2017.

Zonal Solo song Competition was held on 15th July 2017 at Dashmesh Public school, Vivek vihar wherein Tanishq Jain from IX-B attained II

position.

The students of G.D Goenka Public School participated in 7th VIV MUN on 18th -19th July 2017. Shreyansh Swami and Prateek Jha of IX-B won

special mentions in SC as France and Pre WW3 as Iran .

Ishaan Pant (IX A) & Shreyansh Swami (IX B) added one more feather to their cap by attaining the III position in the English Zonal Debate Competition on 28th July 2017.

3rd Speed open Roller Skating Competition was held on 31st July 2017 at Ghaziabad. 14 Students participated in this Competition made us hold our head high by winning 5 Medals) in varied categories. 1.Saanvi Khurana -Gold 2.Tinisha rajpal -Silver 3.Manya larha -Silver 4.Gatha Goel -Bronze 5. Training for Executive Board & Secretariat for GDGPS, MUN'2017

13 students of class IX-XII were selected for the GDGPS MUN 2017Secretariat team. The resource person Mr. Keshav from DIAS enriched the students with the knowledge and the expertise required for managing the MUN committees.

2 8th May 2017 'Legal Awareness' A Workshop was conducted by the practicing Advocates, Ms. Parul Gupta and Mr. Piyush Gupta on 'Legal Awareness'. The students were briefed about the legal issues like Eve-teasing, Sexual Harassment, Ragging etc.

3 8th May 2017 Health and Hygiene A workshop was organized by Yakult for classes III to V and the facilitator Ms. Mahi Tyagi initiated with an explanation on the whole functioning of the digestive system of our body with the help of a model and power point presentation. The students were also informed about some interesting facts related to the internal system of the body.

4 11th May 2017

Anger Management Workshop on Anger Management was conducted for class VII & VIII. Resource person (Ms. Jayshree Mehta from NIE) discussed many ways of expression of

Spell-o-Fun An interactive workshop on Spell-o-Fun was organised for the students of class III. The resource person Ms. Jayshree Mehta from NIE taught the students about Homophones in a very effective manner.

6 18th July 2017 Body Language

The resource person initiated the workshop with a video followed by various activities for the students of class III. Students were able to correlate the given example with real life experiences.

21st July 2017 Talk on Green and Clean Delhi

Mr. Pranjal Aneja (DJS) Metropolitan magistrate, Karkardooma Court Delhi talked to the students about keeping Delhi Green and various legalities concerned with the issue.

8 25th July 2017

Adolescent Issues Workshop on adolescent issues was facilitated by Ms. Richa for the students of class IX. The aim of the workshop was to sensitize and orient students about adolescent problem and associated issues.

“The World Is A Book And Those Who Do not Travel, Read Only A Page”

Over the past 6 years, our school‟s library has evolved into an arena that reverberates with uniquely portable magic all around. Library contributes to the growth of culture and formation of a civic society. Our library is a perfect repository of books on various subjects ranging from „fiction, literature, health, history, science, fairy tales, folk tales, biographies, encyclopedia magazines and newspapers. ‟Book review both verbal and written, activities like stick puppets based on the characters of the books form an integral part of our Library Assessment.
