    NOTICE

WLPS COLOUR RUN FUNDRAISER There was great anticipation and excitement on the senior oval as we held our inaugural WLPS Colour Run on Friday. What a fantastic way to end the week! The smiles on the children's faces, as well as the parents and staff, said it all! The children had a wonderful time going through the obstacle course and getting sprinkled with colour. A few children said they’d gone round 10 times! One thing’s for certain - they all ended up very colourful!!

THANK YOU to everyone for helping make this a very successful fundraiser.

All funds raised are now due back as soon as possible.

MUSIC BUZZ WEEK 8, TERM 4

Welcome to the last Music Buzz for 2018 and what a year it has been. There have been so many highlights with the stand out one being the fantastic musical production of THE GRUNCH. The students were absolutely wonderful and now they can relive that experience, with a recording of it, rain effects and all!

The Music Assembly last week was a great opportunity for the choir and senior instrumental students to showcase their abilities to the parents and whole school. This is when it is so wonderful to be a music teacher!

Instrumental offers went home last week to selected students. Parents, please try to attend one of the meetings this week as it will help you understand the commitments required of your child and YOU.

The Band will be performing at M2’s assembly this week.

Year 5 flute, clarinet and trumpet students are invited to the final band rehearsal on MONDAY, 3 December at 8.25am.

The Christmas Choir and all Year 6 instrumental students are performing at the Leeming Retirement Village this Friday and Parents and friends are encouraged to come along and listen. It will begin at 10.00am and should go for about an hour. Please make sure that your child has returned the permission form by Tuesday.

Lastly, THANK YOU to all of the parents who have assisted in any way with the music program. Just making sure that your child is on time to rehearsals helps enormously. There have been many behind the scenes helpers and I sincerely thank you.

I wish the whole school community a Happy and Joyous Christmas.

    WEST LEEMING GIFT

to the 2018 West Leeming Gift winners, Alice L. and Owen C. The finalists were Monique M., Elijah D., Olivia P., Lincoln T., Lynner J., Jason S., Arianna J., Riley D., Poppy J. and Isaac R.

The West Leeming Gift is a handicapped running race involving every student in the school. All students have run in trials in their year levels to determine the fastest runner in each year level (boys and girls separately). The fastest runner from each year level then ran in the final of the Gift against all the other year levels’ fastest runner.

Each runner in the final has a handicap. The handicap is worked out according to times recorded in the trials. This results in a very exciting race, involving the fastest Year 1 through to Year 6 runners all in the same race, with the winner laying claim to being the fastest runner in the school.

BASKETBALL GRAND SLAM GRAND FINALS Last week our Girls and Boys Basketball teams participated in the Summer Slam Competition held at the State Basketball Centre.

This competition is a state wide event involving both private and state schools with some schools employing professional coaches. Teams needed to win through a qualifying round before being invited to the competition. Both teams made it into the grand finals with the boys’ team ending up as runners up and the girls’ team winning the championship. This is an amazing result on their part. Their dedication and effort over the months was rewarded with a fantastic finish. Mrs Kerryn Houghton and Mrs Michelle Davey as the coaches along with parent support also contributed greatly to the success of the teams. Our “professional” coaches have put in a lot of time preparing the players, so WELL DONE COACHES. Champions and Runner Up champions is a very good effort.

WELL DONE to all players on your great success
