.Visible Learning in 4 Beynon’s Science class!

This term in Science, 4 Beynon are developing their understanding of how the

function of materials is impacted by their properties. Students are also learning

how human innovation has influenced the design of synthetic materials.

In this lesson, students had to conduct an experiment to see which materials

it. Students were given a variety of materials and were required to drop a weight

from different heights and observe the impact.

Preparing For a Weed Jungle!

This week was the last week year 6 would be in the garden and therefore this is the last week that children would be working

in the garden until January next year! In that rather long interim with burgeoning growth we spent this lesson learning about

how to prepare a fallow garden to help prevent a weed jungle in January! The students were able to successfully identify the

unique characteristics of the wet season and the challenges they bring to a gardener. The students learned the process of

weeding, aerating and fertilizing soil. Finally the students learned how to lay a weed mat securely. They have done a fantastic

job. The garden looks much neater and hopefully we will significantly less weeds to attack in Term 1 2018! Great work year 6!

Don’t forget, our plant and produce sale is coming up in week 9. Posters will be coming out soon! Lots of Christmas treats and

plant bargains to be had!

Warm regards

Emily Tutty
