NEWSLETTER DPS Gaya organized its second felicitation ceremony in the presence of Sri N. Dorje, Secretary, BTMC. This year 247 students have received – 'HIGH ACHIEVER'S' and 'CERTIFICATE OF LAUREATE' which is almost double as compared to last year's number. This rising figure itself reflects the incessant hard work and dedication of our zealous students as well as our acclaimed teachers. This year we have introduced some special categories of awards to boost up the morale of our students. These include (All Rounder categories, Excel subject wise, Chairman's Cup : Highest Score, Pro-Vice Chairman's Cup : Best all Rounder Boy and Girl's and Principal's Cup etc) Foundation Day has been established as a day of remembrance, a day of honouring, a day to celebrate what has been achieved over the past three years of DPS Gaya, and a day to look forward to what is yet to come. The 4th Foundation Day at Delhi Public School Gaya was celebrated on 17th June with enthusiasm, fun and frolic. The new teaching staff got together and put up entertaining acts and musicals. The energy and passion of the teachers were visible in the performances that they put up. Our Principal Sri Abhishek Kumarr, along with Pro Vice Chairman Sri Sanjeev Kumar and other esteemed dignitaries of the school graced the occasion and took part in the celebration. A cake was cut at the end of the celebration and was distributed among all the members of DPS Gaya family. It gives me immense pleasure to be at the helm of the affairs of one of the fastest growing DPSes. Being a part of such an illustrious organization, we are committed to empowering generations of young students through offering excellence in education. It is our endeavour to impart to our children a modern outlook so that they can compete with the best. Apart from traditional teaching, efforts are also made to teach the girls the art of self defense. To create a competitive environment among the students various contests of cultural academic and social programmes are organized on regular intervals. Besides the boys and girls are taught about the rich culture and the glorious past of the country. The school is also in the collaboration with the international academic institution like the British Council of India to keep the children abreast with the latest challenges. We are fortunate enough to have a team of highly qualified, dynamic and dedicated teachers and staff who sweat it out to shape up our kids into budding stars of tomorrow and equally supporting parents. DPS Gaya gave a massive treat to all music lovers on 18th March 2016 by organising ‘Vasonstotsav’,an Indian Classical Music extravaganza. The main performers of the day were renowned Classical Vocalist and Padamshree Awardee, Pt. Rajan Mishra and Pt. Sajan Mishra, of ‘Khyal’ Gharana. They made the evening memorable taking a motley crowd on an affable and completely pure Hindustani Classical Vocal journey called Vasantotsav (Celebration of Spring). The musical aura created by the amalgamation of mellifluous voice with the rhythmic beats of Tabla and soothing tune of harmonium enthralled the audience. The entire programme was high in spirit and proved that music, in all its form is endless in its possibilities and in its transcendental beauty. A Cultural Nite was organized at DPS Gaya on 31st March 2016 where students of our school and of Indian Public School, Dehradun mesmerised a large gathering of audience with magnificent display of music, dance and skit. The serio-comic skit which highlighted the adverse effects that greed for money has in today's society in a humorous manner was well appreciated by the audience. A three day enriching workshop on Effective Teaching Strategies at the foundation level, was conducted by Dr. (Ms.) Zeenat Khader, an eminent educator and Joint Secretary of Delhi Public School Society accompanied by Ms. Pritinder Sandhu and Ms. Nupur Handa, Sr. Faculty, Delhi Public School, Vasant Vihar. A seven days "Awareness cum Training Workshop on Mithila Painting" was organised in our school from 25th April 2016 to 2nd May 2016. A cultural programme, based on instrumental music was organized by Spic Macay Society for the promotion of Indian classical music and culture amongst youth in the premises of DPS Gaya. India's global music ambassador and acclaimed Santoor player Tarun Bhattacharya who has changed the face of Indian classical music, shared the stage with noted Tabla Player Sandeep Bhattacharya and presented a duet. They kept the audience spell bound with their wonderful performance bringing them to their feet with loud applause.

DPS, Gaya celebrated Fathers' Day on 18th June to recognize the contribution that fathers and father figures have on the lives of their children. A Show and Tell competition was organized in the Junior Wing wherein the students displayed various belongings of their father's like- tie, perfume, watch, belt, stethoscope, etc while speaking few lines on their respective fathers amidst the presence of the teachers. The students from middle wing too delivered speech on the importance of their fathers on their lives. The principal later threw light on the importance of the day and told the students to respect their parents.

A story telling programme was organized by Scholastic India where the renowned story teller Mrs. Chitralekha Bhaskar conducted sessions with students from classes Pre-Nur to III and with the Primary teachers on the topic 'Art of Story-telling'. As soon as she began the narration of her story, she had everyone in the audience engrossed with her clever storytelling skills The students enjoyed the impersonations of different characters by the storyteller and seemed transported into an imaginary world! The lit up faces and mesmerised looks spoke volumes about the interest it had generated in the children.

A group of delegates from Australia made a special stop at DPS Gaya campus during their tour of Bodhgaya as part of International Exchange Programme. The aim of this programme was to know and experience the Educational system and culture of our country – India. On their arrival, the Australian delegates were given a warm welcome. In a bid to promote educational exchange programmes between DPS Gaya and Australian Institution and for possible future partnerships between the school and their organization, the delegation took a review on several points. Besides they visited the classrooms and interacted with the students.

The students and the teaching staff of DPS, Gaya got together to celebrate the International Day of Yoga on 21st of June to draw the attention of people towards the holistic benefits of practicing yoga and adopting it in our daily life. They performed various asanas like Bhujangasana, Gomukhasana, Dhanurasana, Matsyasana, Ardha-Chandrasana, Surya Namskar etc. followed by important pranayamas like Kapalbharti, Anulom Vilom, Bhastrika etc with great zeal and vigour under the dept guidance of our Yoga and sport teacher Ms. Anuradha and Ms. Reeta Bhadani.

The students of class VIII participated in Inter Cultural Learning Programme organized by Bodhi Tree Educational Trust where they had an interactive session with Australian and Spanish delegates. They came to know about the culture, economy and functioning of government in their country. The DPS students also participated in community welfare activity such as giving gifts to the deprived children, who are studying at the Bodhi Tree Campus. 32 students of Class VIII received a "Certificate of Appreciation" by Sri Dwariko Sudarani, Secretary, Bodhi Tree Educational Foundation and recipient of prestigious Jamuna Lal Bajaj Award.

A free eye check-up camp was organized by the school for bus drivers . Medical team from a reputed hospital visited the school campus and performed preliminary test to detect their visual acuity. Clinical conditions such as external eye infections, vision loss caused by nutritional deficiency, refractive errors were also examined. After the basic examination with the help of torch light and direct ophthalmoscope, the patients were directed to further steps. Essential eye drops and tablets were provided to those who needed them.

DPS Gaya celebrated the festival of Janmashtami with colourful fervour. The school wore a festive look on Janmashtami with the students in colourful attires of Radha and Krishna. The colourful pots of Maakhan and soul touching dance performance of “Maiya Yashoda” mesmerized the minds of all students and staff members.

The folkway festival of Chhath descended upon DPS Gaya when the students celebrated the occasion in traditional way. A mock ritual took shape with kids preparing ingredients and equipments to add hues to their venture. Girls chanted folk songs and the holy baskets wrapped in traditional cloth were put on the head of the boys.

The most celebrated Navratri festival witnessed a unique religious–cultural splash on DPS, Gaya where children enlivened the atmosphere with their outstanding performances. The students, extracting a leaf from the legendary 'Ram Katha', chose to present glimpses of the Hindu epic with their enchanting actions and expressions.

The 68th Republic Day was

celebrated with much grandeur.

only for her school but also for her state after winning the award

at National level Competitions on painting and essay,

organized by PCRA (Petroleum Conservation Research

Association) Ministry of Petroleum & Natural Gas, Government

of India, held in January.

Two students, Amit Prakash and Babloo Kumar got 2nd and 3rd Rank in the prestigious Hindustan Olympiad organised by one of the biggest Media Houses Hindustan and Hindustan Times. The Olympiad was held in Gaya, Bihar on 19th Januray 2016.
