Draft Work Program Issue Paper

Washington County Land Use & Transportation staff has prepared an Issue Paper which recommends and provides support for acceptance of written testimony on land use matters via email. This paper will assist the Board of Commissioners in its consideration of Long Range Planning 2015 Work Program tasks.

County Adopts Revisions to Ordinance that Regulates Pets

Highlights include:

Dangerous Dogs Larger fines for serious violations and smaller fines for less serious offenses.

Cats The revisions do not call for licensing cats in the County. Authority is given to impound cats and provide for their welfare if owners do not reclaim them.

Other Clarifies nuisance violations and other community conflicts. Provisions established for licensing of kennels and animal rescue entities, notification of rabies vaccinations, revision of administrative enforcement.

Area 93 Planning Update

Suzanne Savin, Senior Planner with Washington County

Long Range Planning ([email protected]),

will discuss the County’s planning process for Area 93,

outlining individual steps and their corresponding time

frames. The discussion will highlight the opportunities for

public involvement within the Area 93 planning process.

Neighborhood Bikeway Plan Update

Hundreds of our favorite bicycle routes have recently

been recorded on a new interactive map as part of

developing a Neighborhood Bikeway Plan. Shelley Oylear,

Bicycle and Pedestrian Coordinator with Washington

County Land Use and Transportation (shelley_oylear@

co.washington.or.us), will share information about the

plan, and will introduce the Neighborhood Bikeway

Toolkit. The Plan and Toolkit are draft versions so

come and learn how to contribute to improving our local

biking experience. (See sidebar at top left.)

Draft 2015-16 Work Program Released for ReviewComment Deadline - Feb. 26

Annually, the Washington County Planning and Development Services Division prepares a long range planning work program for adoption by the Board of Commissioners. The Draft 2015-16 Work Program describes the planning projects, potential land use ordinances and other Long Range Planning activities projected to be addressed in the next year. The Board is scheduled to consider the work program, including public comments, on Tuesday, March 24th, 6:30 pm, at their Board meeting which is open to the public.

How to Submit Comments If you would like your comments included in the final staff report to the Board, submit them by February 26th in one of the following ways:

Subject: Draft 2015 Long Range Planning Work Program

Annually, the Planning and Development Services Division prepares a Long Range Planning Work

Program for adoption by the Washington County Board of Commissioners (Board). The draft 2015

Work Program describes the planning projects, potential land use ordinances and other Long Range

Planning activities projected to be addressed in 2015. The draft work program is posted at the

The Board wishes to provide you with the work program so you will be aware of the planning issues

before the county. The Board is scheduled to consider the work program, including public comments,

on March 24, 2015 at 6:30 p.m. If you would like to provide comments about the work program to be

included in the final staff report to the Board, mail, fax or hand-deliver your written comments to Long

Range Planning before 4:00 p.m., February 26, 2015 at the address shown below.

February 18, 6:30 pm / Arbor Custom Homes Development West Hills Development/Arbor Custom Homes is proposing to develop lots for approximately 226 detached single-family homes, 119 attached single-family homes and a lot for future multi-family development on a site located south of SW Scholls Ferry Road on either side of SW Roy Rogers Road. The site is planned for residential use by the City of Tigard’s River Terrace Community Plan. Zoning has yet to be assigned to this area. The meeting will be held at the Alberta Rider Elementary School Library, 14580 SW 132nd Terrace.

Marijuana Education Forum - February 24, 6:30 pm For Parents, Youth and Community Members - Learn about the latest trends concerning marijuana use and how it affects our youth at this informative event. See confiscated supplies from our schools, how they are concealed, and a display of marijuana edibles. Spanish translation will be provided. At St. Anthony Parish Center, 12520 SW Grant St., Tigard. Presented by Tigard Turns the Tide Coalition, the Tigard-Tualatin School District, Girl Scouts of Oregon and SW Washington, and the Boy Scouts of America.

Sheriff’s Office Is Taking Applications for the Community Public Safety Academy Washington County Sheriff’s Office’s next Community Public Safety Academy begins March 17th and ends on June 2nd. Participants in the free, 55-hour training will learn about police equipment, the County Jail, and tour criminal justice facilities. Topics include crime scene investigations, patrol, K-9 teams, tactical operations, and more. Classes are held every Tuesday 6 - 9:30 pm, with two weekend classes.
