May 8 th , 2017 A new salad is on the menu in the North Attleboro School kitchens. Kickin’ Kale Salad made with trimmed kale, olive oil, lemon juice, avocado and seasoning. Students from the Tri-County Culinary Program demonstrated how to make this recipe and with help from our School Nutrition Managers and staff handed out samples to all the students in the cafeterias at out Middle and Elementary Schools on May 8th. Along with the samples our elementary schools menu consisted of oven roasted chicken drumsticks with whole grain cinnamon chips, mashed potatoes, fresh granny smith apples, corn and pea medley and low-fat milk. We also had guest servers at North Attleboro High School. Eric Quan from Quan’s Kitchen served alongside our school nutrition team member Barbara McAuliffe and Leo Jackson from Chophouse Grille in Narragansett, RI served alongside team member Don MacEachern. It was a great day filled with excitement and enthusiasm for healthy eating. The School Nutrition Department for North Attleboro Public Schools will continue this collaboration with Tri- County Culinary Program and restaurants to expand the menu and offerings in the North Attleboro School Kitchens. We hope to have another Chef Day in the near future. [email protected] Chefs Move to School Day in North Attleboro
