(The city and surrounding areas certainly experienced the result, with the flooding of rivers, creeks, ponds and lakes!) With the June meeting and ‘Luncheon’ come the conclusion of Probus meetings, for the summer months, but certainly not the many on-going Probus activities of our Special Interest Groups. This summer we have the addition of numerous other outdoor activities: paddling, boat cruising, hiking & camping/day trip opportunities, through various invitations offered by Probus members, all providing opportunities to enjoy a variety of out- door experiences! The ladies of the church did a splendid job with their preparation of the lunch! It was delicious- plenty for all to enjoy! So, a great time was had by all! Our thanks again, to Judy Brown for organizing this final Probus event of the Spring. Ready for summer now, with a host of options for everyone to take part in! #1 BOOK CLUBThe May gathering was at Barbara’s. Our book was Thunderstruck. As usual some liked it and others not so much. Last month we welcomed a new member Nicolette Eadie. Once again we are full as 10 is a good number for the book club selections from the library. Our next meeting will be a luncheon at Lila’s on Heffley Lake. During the summer we do not have a specific book but share what we have read at our September meeting.

TEA CONNOISSEURS’

THE MEN’S PROBUS COOKING GROUPThe Probus Men’s Cooking Group held their annual Ladies Appreciation wind-up event on June 21st. Tom Walton hosted the event for the fourteen of us at his home. All seven Cookers contributed something to the menu. However, the truth happened to come out during the course (pun intended) of the meal that perhaps not quite everything had been prepared by the seven so-called cookers, although all were involved in the barbecuing of the massive steaks that were the pivotal feature of the meal. Many thanks to Tom for all his organization and to Mother Nature for leaving us untouched in the vortex of the turbulent weather that visited so many other parts of Kamloops.—John Crowe
