Like the children, I was really looking forward to it. Mrs Perry tells me that the children were magnificent and really cared for each other, understanding that we are about fun and participation. Winning is nice but not the most important thing. I really want to acknowledge the team at Greenwood College for stepping up at the last minute to support us when the pool pump at Warwick SHS stopped working. As always, Mrs Dunham did a superb organisational job, especially with so many regular staff away. The depth of our magnificent relief staff really shone through. Well done everyone! NEED YOUR HELP Unfortunately we have had visitors the last couple of weekends, demolishing produce in the school vegetable gardens. The children are very upset by the actions of these thoughtless people. As Ms Young has said, hours of care by the children and months of growing, has all been taken away in a matter of minutes! Please keep a close eye on your school and if you see people entering our grounds over the weekend report it immediately to School Watch on 1800 177 777 or the police on 131 444. Let’s work together to stop these individuals from ruining the environment for your children. ASSEMBLY I would like to offer a big thank you to the staff and children of TA12 for the wonderful Mathematics themed assembly. Top job everyone! STUDENT INFORMATION UPDATES We still have a number of these returns outstanding. Accurate records are very important to both our contact details and our levels of school funding. Please get them back as soon as possible. If you have lost the form, contact Sandy at the front office. OUR SCHOOL PSYCH STARS Not local or national, but on the world stage. FROM THE PRINCIPAL

SWIMMING CARNIVAL I am really sorry that I was unwell and could not attend this event. Like the children, I was really looking forward to it. Mrs Perry tells me that the children were magnificent and really cared for each other, understanding that we are about fun and participation. Winning is nice but not the most important thing. VOLUNTARY CONTRIBUTIONS RAFFLE Look out for the advert later in the newsletter. Get those contributions paid to be in the draw! PARENT EMAIL CONTACTS Please make sure that your email address is accurate and that you update any changes. In most classes and for all whole school notices, this is our major form of contact with you. The Flexibuzz App will be used for reminders and events, as well as newsletter distribution. IPS SCHOOL REVIEW Our review dates are Tuesday 10 April and Wednesday 11 April. A staff carpark bay will be blocked off for the reviewers. School Board and P&C executive will have an opportunity to speak with them. Our reviewers are Mrs Detuik and Professor Milton. KISS AND DRIVE Please avoid parking in this area. If you need longer term parking use other bays or the carpark at Penistone. Leave areas near the Ranleigh Way gate exit free for continuous movement pick up. USE OF PLAY EQUIPMENT I again provide the following information to remind community of the expectations around the use of the equipment. These rules are around the safety and care of your children.

During school hours, the school playgrounds are only for the use of school students or others attending an authorised program.

After school we have allowed parents to stay with their children and use the facilities. I remind all families that this access only applies if you are directly supervising your child and therefore totally responsible for them. They cannot be running around the school. You may not supervise other families’ children. They must make their way home.

Before school there should be no use of playgrounds. Any child arriving before 8.30am is either sitting with their parent or sitting on the bench or ground near the library opposite TA10 and TA 12.

STARS OF THE MONTH

RECYCLING NEWS

We are very pleased with the amount of recyclable materials being collected at our Library Station. There are regular pickups of full Nespresso Pod boxes, printer cartridges, battery bins and the Oral Care Products.

It’s great to see whole families getting involved. Thanks also to the Kindy/Pre-Primary families who have contributed to the Pod and Battery collection bins that commenced this term outside TA2.

The response has been encouraging and you will see next week that we have a new Oral Care bin. All brands of toothbrushes, toothpaste containers and the packaging can be recycled and is also a fundraiser for our school.

Thank you from the Sustainability Team

CHAPLAIN’S CORNER

Holidays are just around the corner, so I thought I would share what’s happening in Perth over the Term 1 break.

1. Early Man hits the cinemas on the 29th March. It’s about a plucky cave man called Dug, his sidekick Hobnob and the rest of their tribe who face a grave threat to their simple existence. Lord North plans to take over their land and transform it into a giant mine, forcing Dug and his clan to dig for precious metals. Dug tries to win his home back by challenging the invaders to a game of soccer.

2. Creativity Central at SciTech. Switch your imagination on and prepare for innovative activities, challenges and experiences to suit all ages at SciTech’s most creative school holidays yet! They will have a show in the Science Theatre, a mystery box challenge in the Rio Tinto Tinkering Space. The CSIRO Lab Workshops return for children aged 4-16 which provides hands–on experiences for curious minds.

Start Date: Saturday 14th April 2018 End Date: Sunday 29th April 2018

3. Kite Workshop. As part of the craft at Cathedral Square series, children are invited to get crafty these school holidays! This free workshop offers an exciting opportunity for kids to make their own kite to take home.

Date: Saturday 14th April Time: 10am – 2pm Price: Free, however there are limited places

available. Register now. Location: Cathedral Square Booking Link: https://www.trybooking.com/UXIA

Next term, I will be away taking my Long Service Leave. So I would like to wish you and your family a wonderful and safe break over the school holidays and return back feeling refreshed and ready for what Term 2 brings. I will see you all again in Term 3
