PRINCIPAL REPORT.

We are in a very serious situation with the Coronavirus in our country

and it is starting to affect so many people. We are grateful to our front

line health workers putting themselves at risk to care for those

unfortunate people who have been hit by the virus.

In the last few weeks we have had a large number of our students at

home as families, worried about the Coronavirus, keep them safe at

home and only send them to school if absolutely essential. Although the

school has not been able to provide much learning for at home,

student’s families have kept their children home and looked after them.

Well done! You’re doing it for the wider community as well as your own

family.

In the meantime, teachers and school staff have been working hard

preparing online learning materials to support the stay-at-home

students ready for next term. Being at home, with school work provided

and led by the class teacher, and supervised by a parent, is absolutely

the safest place for our students. There is the least risk of them either

catching the virus or bringing it home to an at risk adult.

More important information

We understand that having children at home, or trying to work

from home, with children around can be demanding on

families. The experience from overseas is that it is a hard time.

Our challenge is not how hard it is, the challenge is about

keeping our family and our neighbours safe. Only essential

workers should be sending children to school.

So as you make your decision about whether your children are

coming to school or staying home next term please remember:

the smallest number of people that are out and about the safer

our community is against the virus. We at the school will be

ready to support your students learning at home. We’ve been

working hard to get it ready.

Next Wednesday, at 10am we will be having a trial run of our

online learning. All our teachers will go online on their Edmodo,

SeeSaw or Dojo apps to see how the connection works with our

students. It will be an interesting trial. We’ll send a text to tell you

that we are about to do it.

If your family doesn’t have the internet or a computer available

let us know. We’re working on a solution that might be able to

help you.

Please stay safe!

James
