Attendance Winners! This week we launched a new competition within school regarding attendance. I’m sure your children came home on Monday and told you about my assembly where I said that the classes with the best attendance (in both key stage 1 and key stage 2) over the course of a half term would be rewarded with a non-uniform day (Hedgehogs and 4E were our first winners).

Other incentives include: any children with an attendance rate of 100% over the course of a whole term will receive a personal certificate as well as seeing their names displayed in their classroom and in the school newsletter.

Our attendance for the first half term was just below 97%. We would request that avoidable absences, for example holidays during term time, do not happen, as prolonged time away from school will have an impact on your child’s learning.

Obviously if children are ill then they should not come into school, but with this incentive in place we hope that you will play your part in ensuring Kings Worthy’s attendance rate remains high and that your child may well enjoy a class non-uniform day very soon.

Josh’s Raffle

This is a reminder to let you know that next week will be the last chance for children to buy their raffle tickets—£1 strip.

Jamie Dodson, Headteacher.

Uniform

This is a polite reminder; please ensure that all uniform is named as we have piles of lost property at the minute which is either not named or so faded that we cannot read it. We do like to be able to get the uniform back to its owner whenever possible.

Your School Needs You! Staff and governors are dedicated to ensuring that Kings Worthy Primary School is the best that it can be: that our children are happy and supported in their learning. We would be very grateful if parents (and grandparents, and step-parents, and older siblings) could help us where they can. There are plenty of opportunities to help out – some during the school day, some from home – and every single offer of help makes a difference to all of our children. Some of the things we need help with are:

Librarians – during the school day to help tidy the library. Transport – transporting small groups of children off-site during the day, e.g. to sporting events. Trips – attending school trips to help to ensure that the children get the most out of their day. Walking Bus – walking a small group of children to school across Eversley Park one day a week. Reading – listening to children read during the school day. Maths – 1:1 maths help for children during the school day. Fundraising – running an event or two to raise funds to help to buy things that will enrich the children’s experience. Gardening – help with maintaining our wonderful grounds. Experience-sharing – if you have an interesting job, our children will want to hear about it! Baking – the children LOVE the monthly cake sale, so if you can bake some fancy cupcakes, knock together a tray of brownies or buy something for us to sell, our table will groan with produce – which almost always sells out. Match-funding – if you can’t spare any time, but the company you work for offers a match-funding scheme then you could help with funds for school. Each of these activities won’t take too much of your time, and many hands make light work. We’ll need to carry out a DBS check before you start but it doesn’t take long. It’s a lovely way to meet people in our community, to share in our children’s education, and to give them the best life-chances that we can. Please consider joining us – you can speak to Mr Dodson on the gate to find out more, or contact Alix and Rachel via [email protected]. Claire Welland (Chair of Governors), Alix Hickman & Rachel Dawson (outgoing Chairs of the PTFA), and Jamie Dodson (Headteacher).

2G Assembly

Even though I wasn’t in today’s assembly, I was lucky enough to get a sneak preview yesterday afternoon. An amazing performance full of great singing, super acting and clear speaking of lines by all involved. I learnt so much about explorers that I didn’t know. Great job 2G and well done to Mrs Gaunt for preparing the children so well.
