NHGF&HC PRESIDENT'S MESSAGEDear Fellow club members,Well it's been a long and busy summer. Many thanks to Sally Mcvey McCartin who organized a successful road race Saturday morning at the Festival. It was well attended and I had the pleasure of running (well...walking really) but it was a wonderful time for a great cause. Great Job by Rich Ranciato and his committee for another successful Golf tournament. I was out of town but I heard a good time was had by all. I have been President for three years now and I believe it is time to pass the torch. In my time on the board I believe that we, as a board together, have accomplished many positive things. Please consider running for office. You don't have to start as President but our club is only as good as the people who pitch in and help out. As the Fall approaches things start to heat up around your club. Lots of events coming so circle some dates on your newsletter to come join us for a good time. Please consider inviting a friend to any of our upcoming events. Our club is only as good as its members. So many people don’t know where we are and what we do. When they learn about us they are often happy to join. Thanks and see you at the Club! John Joe Mackey.

IACC PRESIDENT'S MESSAGEDear Club members,Now that our festival is over, we are revving up for a busy fall. I cannot thank Billy Mackey and Anne Hines enough for their leadership in making our festival a success. To all the committee chairmen and women, thank you for countless hours of work and dedication to our club! Our field is ready! Please join us in celebrating this major accomplishment for our facility. The committee has been hard at work filling in the details for the celebration. I urge all of us to come together and mark a new beginning for our club. Have you sold your raffle tickets? The drawing is on September 17, so now is the time. All tickets must be returned. The busy fall schedule is in the newsletter. Please stop by, bring a friend, and support our club! Slainte, Eileen O'Keefe Roxbee.

LETTER FROM THE VICE PRESIDENT OF THE IACCI would like to start out by saying that it brings me great joy to be apart of such a great community. I am very happy to announce that we had another successful Golf Tournament. The proceeds from this years tournament with help our club achieve its goals. A portion of the proceeds were allocated to the patio furniture for all to enjoy. Below is a list of people that helped and I believe they should be acknowledged. Without the help of these club members I would have never been able to pull off such an event for the betterment of our club and community. If we all chip in a little we can accomplish so much! I would like to thank all of these members for their help! Patricia and Holly DeMorro, Alice Sette, Sally McCartin, Josh and Jason Ranciato, Cathy and James Staunton, Sean Cox and John McCormack. My thanks to our Sponsors for this event. Their generosity I feel helped our cause and I would like to thank all of them for their support! Closet To The Pin McCormack Insurance Agency. Many thanks to Pat Whelan for his generous donations of CDs to sell at our festival - all sold and made many a person happy to add to their collection of Irish music.

Great job Enda - thanks so much to Enda Cox for volunteering and cutting the grass on our field during Mike Gethings' absence.

FESTIVAL THANK YOUI thank each and every one of you who helped put on our festival this year. Without your help this huge event could not take place. It is a lot of hard work but it is great to show off our Irish culture. My plan is to go over with the Executive Board our Repot in October and I will have a full report for all the members at the October General Membership Meeting. Thank you again, Bill Mackey.

CONGRATULATIONS:Another year and another birthday for our valiant Co. Mayo poster girl Mary Anne Campbell Walsh. Mary Anne who is the mother of club member Anne Paulsen was born in Charlestown, Co Mayo on April 9th 1908….that is 109 years ago! Congratulations Mary Anne from all your friends at the IACC. For many years Mary Anne was a regular attendee at our Annual Festival, accompanied by her son-in-law Al Paulsen.

YOUTH SPORTS UPDATENew Haven Represented in Feile for 10th Straight YearOlivia Maxwell was presented with a check for $100 from the Irish American Community Center treasurer, John McGowan along with best wishes for this year’s feile tournament in Ireland. She spent a week in Ireland representing New Haven Gaelic football on the New York All-star team. They started with a couple of challenge matches, playing Devenish St. Mary's in Co. Fermanagh on Tuesday, followed by Killybegs, Co. Donegal on Wednesday - where she faced her cousin and played for Maxwell pride!! They had a final warm-up game on Thursday vs. Tramore, Co. Tyrone, and then it was off to Scotstown, Co. Monaghan for the feile competition. The girls played brilliantly, but lost to a strong team from Kilkenny City in the finals. We couldn’t be prouder of Olivia. This was the culmination of six months of hard work, where yet another set of New Haven parents have traveled 150 miles round trip 2-3 times a week for the last six months. Olivia was ready! Thanks to Olivia, this is the 10th year in a row that New Haven has been represented in the Feile competition. An amazing accomplishment for a small club!!U17 Girls Playing in Dublin TournamentIn addition to having a New Haven player on the feile team, Mairead Ryan and Fiona McCormack represented New Haven on the New York U17 all-star team who traveled to Ireland in August. They have been training hard, and promised to represent our club well. If you see them wish them well, as New Haven continues to produce top notch players who can compete with the best.

WELCOME BACK CYC KIDS - WELL DONEWelcome back everyone! Another successful CYC is under our belt. It was one of the best CYC's we had in years. Congratulations to our U14 team who won the championship. How great to see the New Haven jerseys back on the field, and our numbers growing. Now we are all back, and the fall is around the corner. There are a lot of exciting things ahead. First on the list is the Opening and Re-dedication of our field at 9 Venice Place, East Haven, CT. It's good to be back home!! PRACTICES RESUMED Practices resumed for all players from age 4-14 on Thursday, August 31st at 6:00pm. For any of our older players, please come along to our practices. Your attendance inspires our younger players, and you have a lot to pass on to them. We will be getting our fall schedule from New York by the end of August. It will be nice to have home games at home again. Please make every effort to attend trainings and games as we work hard to grow our program.

NEW MEMBERSWith pleasure we welcome the following New Members – hope to see you frequently at our Club: Susan Jones/Jeffrey Muzljakovick, Centerbrook, Anthony Calandro III, East Haven, Thomas Briganti, East Haven, Joey Anastasio, East Haven.

50th ANNIVERSARY OF CLUB AT VENICE PLACE Sunday 1st Oct. 3-7pmIt was an Irishman's dream to have a home from home and in 1967 this dream became a reality when members of our Club decided to purchase a building and have a place to call their own on Venice Place - that was 50 years ago and although the years have marched on and some of those members are no longer with us it is still a place of dreams as our club has only grown ever since these smart folks made the brilliant decision to buy. Charlie O'Hagan was President of the Club at that time and with his guidance and the determination of the members we today can come to our club on Sunday, 1st October from 3-7pm to honor their memory and to thank Charlie, as our honored guest, for our beautiful club and property. Entertainment and refreshments will be provided. For more info contact Mike Faherty 203 640 8927, Pat Hosey 203 248 1538 or John O'Donovan 203 281 3563.
