8th August – We turned Eleven and how!!!!

Founder’s Day - Young innovators from across several schools of

Pune along with our very own students joined together to give an

intellectual treat to us. In the august presence of Mr. Nitin Agarwal,

Mr. Gopal Musale, Mr.PuneetBhatnagar and Mr.Romil Shah. The ‘

Youngistannis – Innovator’s Conclave’ was a sheer insight into the

sparks in the young minds that can ignite the future. They dealt with

innovations in the field of animations to saving electricity,

automated pet feeders to mobile apps. The audience was baffled at

how these young minds were perceiving the problems of the

present and working on ideas that could rule the future. The

conclave was opened with a soulful Qawali by the School Choir and

it provided the right mood of sobriety and insight.

Dear Parents,

It takes great pleasure for me to share with you the happenings of this very

eventful month!

August is a month of many events – and each event was celebrated with aplomb!

The 12th of August was the performance by the school children of classes VI – VIII. The event was aptly called ‘Folk

and Fusion’. Their hard work and efforts were beautifully exhibited as they performed to fusion theme in various

fields of music – dance, songs and percussion. They presented some of the songs of Mr. Raghu Dixit, who was our

Chief Guest this year. Mr. Dixit could not help but swoon to their rhythm and was moved by their performances!!!

13th. August morning was dedicated to the Raghu Dixit workshop. Students were eagerly awaiting for this

interaction and they were left mesmerised by the time the session ended. Mr. Dixit’s life story became his teaching

tool and each event that he narrated bore deep and meaningful life lessons. The teachers and the students alike

were left clapping hard until their hands turned pink to the words of his simple brilliance. Every line he spoke was

laden with a life lesson and finally when he sang – it was unbelievable! He left the audience craving for more in the

evening!

13th evening was something everyone was waiting for. Mr. Raghu Dixit and his immensely talented young band took

centre stage and from the moment they strung the first chord, they had the audience pumping on their feet!!!!

What can I say about witnessing pure magic in front of me. Students, teachers, parents,trustees…..all just swayed

and swayed as he played on. It was an evening that Orchidians will not forget in a hurry!

Independence Day - 15th August was celebrated with equal vigour as we unfurled the national flag. The zeal of

young India laced with discipline at the correct time made us feel very proud of our upcoming generations.

Academics - As celebrations neared its end, we started gearing up for the Revision test. The tests started on the 24th

August and happened smoothly. While the pressure to perform is always a nagging worry, the students showed that

they could switch gears from performing arts to academics with ease.

FA2 was an on-going assessment and was conducted along with portion completion. The integrated project on

‘Katraj Doodh Dairy’ saw some beautiful group/individual activities in all subjects. The projects were commendable

in terms of ideas and the way they beautifully connected the theme to their subjects.

A new feedback system that we have introduced this year was the Student Teacher Conference (STC). Each student

was called for a meet individually with the class teacher where I provided them with feedback on their

performances in FA1, heard about their areas of difficulty, suggested methods to deal with most of them and helped

them set targets for themselves in the upcoming exams. The sharing was meaningful and the student feedback had

been insightful. I have tried my best to listen to them, help them deal with areas of difficulty, taken suggestions and

feedback from them about their classes and helped analyse and improve upon them. I hope this meaningful

exchange will help them analyse their situation better and focus on their areas of difficulty and try to overcome

them rather than get burdened under pressure.
