Big Maths Day Last week all classes from YR-Y6 took part in ‘Big Maths Day’ with a focus on measurement – they
had a day measuring and exploring and having great fun with maths.
Year 3 Trip to We The Curious Year 3 had an amazing time at ‘We the Curious’ last week and were
fantastic ambassadors for the school. They were curious and
enthusiastic and behaved respectfully and considerately. They
learned so much about every aspect of science and had great fun
doing do. Well done, Year 3!
CST Arts Workshop
Congratulations to artists Arafa, Edy and Zoe in Y6, Natalia and Taiyaba
in Y5 and Eshan and Cristina in Y3 who were selected to join a group of
students across the Trust for whom English is an additional language (Zoe
went to help interpret for Arafa). They were part of a special arts
workshop to produce 5 large collaborative paintings. Their work will be on
display in the Eastern Lady Chapel of Bristol Cathedral over February
Half Term.
Dark Angels As many of you will know, Dark Angels is a Hip Hop
dance group which is part of the Angels Dance Academy.
ADA is a dance club that teaches Hip-hop, Jazz &
Cheerleading and many of our children attend.
Dark Angels is coached and choreographed by Charlie
Bedford, who used to attend Headley Park Primary,
followed by Bedminster Down Secondary. Dark Angels
are currently taking part in ITV’s ‘The Greatest Dancer’
shown on Saturday nights. They were chosen for Oti
Mabuse’s team and have got through to the second live
show. As they are so closely connected to Headley Park
and role models for many of our children, it would be
fantastic to see them do well in this show so please tune
in on Saturday and give them your vote!
New Holiday Camps Tim Shears, a former Headley Park
parent and governor, has set up a new
company, Kings Sports, which will be
running multi-sport holiday camps for
6-12yr olds at St Mary Redcliffe and
Temple school (which includes
swimming facilities). The camps will
be run by PE teachers from the
Bristol area, and they are currently
offering discounts for early and
multiple bookings. For more details

Sports Update Year 3/4 Sportshall Athletics - WINNERS
On Wednesday 29th January, our Year 3/4 Athletics
Team took part in the Sportshall Competition at St
Bernadette’s Secondary School.
For many of our children it was their first experience of
representing the school and they were amazing, winning
every race and every field event! A truly brilliant effort.
Year 5/6 Athletics- West of England
SILVER
On Monday 27th January, 21 of our Headley
Park children took part in the West of England
Winter Games at UWE, having qualified in December.
The kids were up against the best schools from across the region, but they performed to an
exceptional level and won many field events as well as some strong performances on the track.
Finishing with a silver medal is a fantastic achievement - the children worked incredibly hard in the
lead-up to the event and we were so pleased they achieved the result they deserved.
Attendance
Well done to everyone who was entered into the draw for 100% attendance. This
week the lucky winners were Lexie in 6C who chose a squishy toy and Luna in 1H
who won a pirate book.
Whole school attendance this week was a bit lower this week at 94.5%.
Congratulations to 4P who won the class attendance trophy this week with 95.8%.
Website We are in the process of building a new website and will be making it more streamlined and easier to
navigate. In the meantime, we are updating and removing some sections and have had some technical
difficulties with this. You may experience some problems using the site in the next couple of weeks.

Online Safety
Think twice before you share our faces online, say children.
One of the key rules we try to impress upon children is to think hard
before sharing anything online as it will be there forever. However, this
is something that us adults should consider too. We are often keen to
share family moments on social media, all too often without the
permission of our children. Attitudes amongst children and young adults
towards their image being out there on social media for all to see would appear to be changing and,
with ‘consent’ being so important, is it time for us to rethink how we behave online? Don’t take it
from me, take it from the children.
