NEWSLETTER #3 Friday 26 January 2018 Dear Parents SAFETY FIRST! It’s time for a reminder of our morning drop-off instructions: we urge you to adhere to these, and let’s work together to ensure a safe zone for children in our parking lot and avoid any accidents. Please study the map attached. The most important points to note are: - Stick to the direction of flow arrows. Keep it to a short 10 second drop-off time. Please drive very slowly, especially on the way out. Don’t park near the blue arrows, or in front of the staff car parking area. Parking in the central parking areas, between the green arrows, where there is not a pedestrian crossing, is at your own risk. From these areas, children should be accompanied through the moving traffic. In addition, the Brooklyn police have warned parents to be vigilant when dropping off and picking up their children at school. There have been incidents of remote jamming and theft of valuables from cars in numerous school carparks. We have not been immune to this, in spite of our security cameras and vigilant staff. Please assist by ensuring that your car is locked and keeping hand bags, laptops and other valuables out of sight. Don’t think that it will be fine to leave your car unlocked, even for one minute, while walking your child to the gate. Your safety and that of your child really matters to us. EDUCATIONAL FUND Thank you for your wonderful attendance at our Parents Meeting on Monday night. Following on from that is the matter of the Educational Fund. We would be most grateful if you would consider being part of this mutually beneficial arrangement. The electronic version of the form goes out with the newsletter today. A hard copy went out on Tuesday. Please complete the form and return it by Wed 31 Jan, even if you chose not to participate. Swimming Teams:

Both the High School and Primary School swimming teams will be announced today. We kindly

request that anyone selected please prioritize swimming practises as this is the sport of the term.

Sport Practises:

Anyone not at attending a sports practise needs to excuse themselves with their managers and not

the sport office. This includes parents who email in. Unfortunately, it is impossible to handle all

requests to the sports office. All sports manager’s names are reflected on the Co-curricular schedule

and the emails for these teachers are found at the back of the school diary. Where possible pupils

should excuse themselves.

Dancing

Jessica Williams took part in her Grade 7 Contemporary exam late last year and was awarded
