Childrenalsoneedtobringanamedwaterbottletoschooleverydaysotheycankeephydratedthroughouttheday.Pleasedonotputwaterbottlesinbookbagsastheyoftenleakoverbooksandruinthem!

BeforeschoolAsyouwillhaveseenlastweek,wehavestartedour‘PlaygroundBagels’breakfastschemeofferingfreebagelstoanychildthatwouldlikeonebeforeschool.Thesewillbeavailableeverydayatthesidegate.Theplaygroundstillopensat8.45and,asalways,weaskthatparentsstaywiththeirchild/renuntilthebellringsortheteacheriswiththeclass.Classteachersoftenhavemeetingsbeforeschoolandarenotalwaysintheplaygroundbeforeschoolalthoughtherewillalwaysbeamemberofstaffonduty.Teachers(Y2-Y6)aimtobeintheplaygroundfrom8.55amsothatparentscanpassonanyurgentmessagesforthatday.Weaskthatparentspleasedonottrytospeaktotheteacheroncethebellhasgoneasourprioritythenis,ofcourse,thechildrenandgettingthemintoschoolsafelyandquickly.Weappreciateyourunderstanding.

NewsfromY4,Y5&Y6AhugewelcomebacktoallofthechildreninKS2followingtheEasterbreak.TheUinaltermoftheschoolyearisunderwayandthechildrenhavealreadyhitthegroundrunning.ThechildreninYear4havebeguntheirnewtopiconExtremeWeatherandhavestartedreading'TheExplorer'writtenbyKatherineRundelltosupporttheirthinking.InYear5,thechildrenareleavingtheVictoriansbehindandarenowfocusingonthetopicofWaterpayingparticularattentiontotheeverconcerningissueofglobalwarming.InYear6,thechildrenwillcontinuetolearnabouttheCivilRightsMovementofthe1950s/1960sbuthavebegunreadingthebook'Wonder'inordertoencourageourthinkingabouttheimportanceofkindnessandhowwetreatothers.Asalwaysthechildrenwillhaveweeklyspellingquizzesbutpleaseremembertoreadeverysinglenightaswellasaccessingtimestablesrockstarstogetthosescoresevenhigher!AndyMcPartland
