Dear Family and Friends,

Another year has come and gone and as we bring it to a close, we get to end it with my favorite time of year - Christmas! I love it because it’s generally cheery, merry and bright. It brings friends and family together and it makes us reflect on the reason that we celebrate it; God gave us a gift that connects heaven to earth.

Every time we read the Christmas story, my favorite part is the three wise men. They set out on a journey of faith that took them somewhere so unexpected, and it all started with one simple action: looking up.

So this Christmas, I’m again reminded to look up. Look up from the tree and the cookie decorating and look higher. To the pieces of Him here on earth, and to the real reason for this special day. Looking up and having faith can take you on an unexpected journey, where the real gift is all along.

“What happens when you’ve been following a star and it leads you to a stable? What happens when all of a sudden, after thinking something grand will be at the other end, you end up in the backyard of a barn? And there, instead of a palace and a king on a throne, you find a little baby held by His mother.” - Max Lucado

A very merry Christmas from our family to yours!

“When they saw the star, they were overjoyed.” Matthew 2:10 Looking Up…

Heavy rains have been plaguing East Africa all autumn and recently have resulted in severe flooding and washouts in Uganda. Usually rainy season would have ended in November, but in the last few years it’s been quite unpredictable. So far there have been 16 deaths due to floods, and so many more have lost their entire homes and possessions. Roads to many remote communities have washed away, leaving MAFs flights as one of the only reliable ways for aid workers and missionaries to get in and out. Please pray for the people living in these areas as they start cleaning up and rebuilding after these storms, for the who have lost loved ones, and for those who travel in and out of these areas.

Rain, rain, go away!

As a pilot, I’m blessed to meet some pretty amazing people, who are passionate about making a difference in people’s lives. Not only are they giving people the gift of HOPE for their futures, they’re encouraging the people they serve and everyone else (including me!) who they come into contact with.

I flew “Through the Roof ”, a group of Occupational Therapists, to Moyo where they were meeting a shipping container of NHS wheelchairs that had been refurbished by inmates. They then fitted the chairs to children and adults with disabilities in the refugee settlements nearby. In this season of Giving, let’s also remember to be thankful for what we’ve been given, and what people are doing for the “least of these” around the world!
