What you can do to help?Show in your own life how to befriendly and how to nurturefriendships by having interests thatexpose your children to families with
similar interests. Give childrenexperiences, attitudes, values andbehaviours that make them likeable.Give your children enough socialexposure through interests, sport, clubs etc so that kids meet lots ofother children not just those at school.Talk to your child about forgiveness.Sometimes friends do things thatupset us. This doesnt mean thefriendship has to end. Understandingthat everyone makes mistakes is animportant lesson to learn. Being ableto overlook and forgive mistakes andupsets are sure ways to have goodfriends. Finally talk about the fact thatfriendships arent exclusive, you canhave more than one friend at the sametime.

Risk Management Framework tofully integrate the identification andcontrol of risks as identified by allmembers of the school community,
particularly the staff.
Significant discussion was hadaround a maintenance roster, aimed at all the little things that canslip through the cracks. In short, sweeping the paths, spreadinggarden mulch, trimming the shrubsetc. The proposal is effectively that
a roster of families be drawn up,covering every week (except school
School Council met last Tuesdaynight and a number of items werediscussed, and several policies wereratified, including Smoking, Parent
Payment and Risk Management.
These policies will be able to beviewed on the Schools websitessoon, or alternatively you can ask at
the school office.
To summarize each policy:
Smoking effectively states thatthere is to be no smoking on schoolgrounds, or at school events off site, and that the school activelydiscourages smoking and the use of
tobacco to its students.
Parent Payment Sets theframework for School Council torequest payment from parents under

holidays) and simple tasks as outlinedabove be allocated. This would meanthat, for instance, sometime duringthe week family A would beexpected to sweep the lower pathsnear the netball court, and family Bwould do the paths around the admin.Participation in the roster would
result in a refund of yourmaintenance levy.
This is very much in the planningstages at the moment, however weexpect to implement something laterin the term. As always, yourcomments and suggestions are more
than welcome.
Cheers
