Dear Parents and Carers, It has been wonderful to see so many of you over the last couple of weeks engaging in our assemblies and events. Chinese New Year Assembly Many thanks to Mrs Susanna Yau (Mother of Wen Hao Lee) and Mr Ka Pak Lam (father of Lydia Kai Wing and Claire Kai Yan) for coming along to Sunnyfields. We enjoyed learning about how Chinese New Year is celebrated. We looked at amazing silk outfits and decorated red envelopes that are given with lucky money. And the fortune cookies were yummy!

Mr Hirani, our RE co-ordinator, will be holding a coffee morning on Friday 24th February to find out if other parents would be interested in helping us present assemblies reflecting different faiths and traditions. Literacy Workshop What a fantastic turn out there was for our focus on Spelling, Punctuation and Grammar (SPaG)! All children have to take a SPaG test at the end of Key Stage Two and therefore we wish to give children the best start possible. Mr Richards was delighted to be able to inform so many parents on how they could support and help their children in this very important area.

Science Stay and Play Sessions Nursery and Reception Class parents enjoyed helping and learning with their children as they carried out a variety of scientific experiments this week.

Poetry Assembly We hope that you enjoyed our poetry assembly this morning. All the children thoroughly enjoyed the whole poetry spectrum that they studied and much of it brought about some very lively discussions … amongst staff as well as pupils! I think you will agree that you heard some very creative and impressive poetry this morning. I look forward to seeing you all at many more Sunnyfields events. Our next focus will be Art Week during the last week of half term. A professional artist will be delivering lessons to years 2 to 6, giving children the opportunity to paint in similar styles. Parent Email Communication Nearly everyone has submitted their email address and it is obviously far more environmentally friendly for us to email as much information as possible. However, we understand that many people do not access to a printer and may want a hard copy of a document. Please do feel free to collect a copy of whatever you require from the school office. Parent Consultations We shall send home booking letters next week. Consultations will take place on Wednesday 8th and Thursday 9th February.
