VISIT TO FIRST MINISTERS OFFICE

Groups E and F have recently been involved in the Fruitmarket Project. Some of the art work produced by the pupils has been put on display in the waiting room area of the First Minister, Nicola Sturgeon. We were very excited to receive an invitation to visit her and see the art work in place! A small group went to the Scottish Parliament on Tuesday morning and were treated to juice and cakes. We were even allowed into her office! It has a very nice view of Holyrood Palace and Arthur’s seat, as well as a very large desk!

MEET THE STUDENT COUNCIL

Meet your new Student Council. The council meets once a month to discuss how things are going in school. After every meeting two representatives from the Council meets up with our Head Teacher to discuss any concerns raised by pupils.

The first meeting of the Council was held this Tuesday. Many positives for the school were shared. There were lots of ideas for future developments in the school. Watch this space!

REMEMBRANCE POPPIES

Last week Pilrig Park went poppy mad. Everyone got involved making, buying, selling and wearing poppies. Together we raised just over £40 for the fabulous work of Poppy Scotland. At the same time, we remembered all those who have died in conflicts throughout the world and in particular those who died in World War 1.

Some classes have also been on visits to Rosebank Cemetery to look for the graves of local soldiers and learn about the Gretna rail disaster of 1915.

Below is a picture of E group selling poppies and practising the signalong sign for poppy.

Thank you to everyone who bought in donations to buy the poppies. The story does not end here as we were given poppy seeds with the box of poppies and when the Spring comes we will be looking for opportunities to sow them. Watch this space……

RAISE FUNDS FOR PILRIG PARK SCHOOL EVERY TIME YOU SHOP ONLINE

Members of the parent council have set up a charity to support pupils at Pilrig Park School. To help support the charity - FRIENDS OF PILRIG PARK SCHOOL - please sign up for EASY FUNDRAISING. It doesn’t cost you anything.

If you shop online, you’ll find many businesses will make a tiny donation - and it all adds up.If you have internet access please sign up at https://www.easyfundraising.org.uk/causes/friendsofpilrigpark/ and please tell your family and friends.

There is a video on the site which explains how Easy Fundraising works: https://youtu.be/Sn2dsQGAe_wbut basically the more of you who sign up - the more money is raised for pupils at Pilrig Park School. You can also download a donation reminder, that will alert you every time you shop if your retailer supports Easy Fundraising, and there’s a free APP.
