Bahrain Monarch strengthens his country's position.
The monarch is willing to more economic, trade, investment and technical cooperation.
In a visit of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Aal-Khlifa to his majesty the emperor of Japan in
the imperial palace, where the emperor was among the first of receivers; they held a
bilateral discussion summit. His majesty the Monarch expressed his pride of the level of the
historical bilateral relations and expressed his will to expand in more aspects. His majesty
also expressed the will of the kingdom for more bilateral cooperation with Japan in all areas,
especially, economy, trade and investment; utilizing the advanced Japanese expertise in
technical and scientific areas. During the discussion, the emperor praised the level of
freedom and democracy in Bahrain, and what Bahrain achieved in speedy steps and
excellent successes in political, economic and educational areas, due to the reform project
of his majesty the king of Bahrain, which enhanced the status of Bahrain in the regional and
international community. His Majesty also received the minister of industry, trade and
national economy of Japan and attended signing an agreement of bilateral cooperation in
fields of economy, trade and energy. Another agreement has been signed between the BDF
and the Japanese SBI Pharmaceuticals. His Majesty also gave a speech in a ceremony held in
Akasaka Palace emphasizing that economy, security, development; justice and coexistence
are ones of the biggest aims in Bahrain. He also said that Bahrain is giving most of its
attention to Bahrain citizen welfare. He also talked to the president of the Bahraini-Japanese
friendship committee, emphasizing the Bahraini Parliament succeeded in making relations
with many other parliaments worldwide and achieved many successes.

Bahrain by Dr. Hassan Fakhro, the minister of Commerce and Finance and Dr. Abdulhussain
Mirza, the minister of energy, and Edano Yukio the minister of industry, trade and economy
on behalf of Japan. Another agreement of cooperation between the Bahrain Defense Force
(BDF) and Japanese SBI Pharmaceuticals has been signed. His highness Sheikh Khlid bin
hamad al-khlifa signed on behalf of Bahrain and Edano Yukio on Behalf of Japan.

Monarch receives Japanese Minister of Industry and Economy
Signing two memoranda of understanding in fields of economy, industry and
pharmaceuticals.
His majesty the king of Bahrain received in the residence in Akaska palace in yesterday
Thursday, the Japanese minister of industry, trade and economy Yukio Edino. During the
meeting; his majesty emphasized on the importance of bilateral cooperation between the
kingdom of Bahrain and Japan in economic and trade fields and expressed his support to all
that comes in the interest of both countries and nations. He also emphasized that Bahrain is
keen to strengthen relation with Japan and expand it to wider areas.
The Japanese minister expressed his consent with the level of cooperation ongoing between
the two countries, willing for more cooperation in mutual areas. An agreement of
cooperation between the Kingdom of Bahrain and Japan has been signed in the presence of
his majesty after the meeting, in fields of economy, trade and energy. This has been signed
by Hassan Fakhro the minister of industry and commerce, and Abdulhussain Mirza the
minister of energy on behalf of Bahrain; and minister of industry, trade and economy on
behalf of Japan. Another agreement of cooperation has been signed between the Bahrain

Defence Force and SBI Pharmaceuticals by His highness Sheikh Khalid bin Hamad Al-Khlifa on
behalf of Bahrain and minister of industry, trade and economy on behalf of Japan. Minister
of energy stated on the occasion that the Japanese expressed their will to participate in
developing the petroleum sector in the Kingdom of Bahrain. He also clarified that Japanese
companies helped in the past in several petroleum projects in Bahrain. He also said that the
project needs the cabinet approval to get started and would cost 6-8 billion dollars. Another
project has also been discussed about expansion of petrochemicals site. Gulf Petrochemicals
has a plan of expansion that may cost 1.5 billion dollars to increase producBvity, the
Japanese side showed interest in participating in the project.

The minister of commerce Dr. Hassan Fakhro received in his office yesterday morning Mr.
Kawata the COO in the SBI Pharmaceuticals, attended by Tohoru Tanaka, Moto Nakajima,
Hidemistsu Sugihara, Keitaro Watanabe the directors; and Abbas Alshehabi the project
coordinator. The company showed will to establish a factory in Bahrain.
In the meeting; the minister praised the efforts exerted by the governments of Bahrain and
Japan to enhance economic cooperation. Especially after the visit by his majesty the king of
Bahrain to the empire of Japan; which had a significant effect on strengthening relations
between the two countries; economic in particular. In this regard, the minister praised the
quality of SBI Pharmaceuticals products , emphasizing Bahrain's keen interest in cooperation
with SBI and other international companies in this industry. He explained about the
procedure always taken in Bahrain and Bahrain's reputation in fields of medical lotions,
pharmaceutical products and cosmetics of international standards. From their side, the
officers in the company expressed appreciation for efforts done by the government of
Bahrain and ministry of commerce; emphasizing their will of technology transfer to the
kingdom. Noteworthy that "SBI Pharmaceuticals" is specialsed in manufacturing products
containing aminolevulinic acid; like cosmetics, medical products, and food supplements.

Japanese company towards building a drug factory in Bahrain
Japanese SBI Pharmaceuticals is looking towards building a drug factory in Bahrain, where
the Kingdom is the centre of distribution after fulfilling requirements and gas supplies. That
came in a meeting held by minister of energy Dr.Abdulhussain Mirza with the SBI, following
up the HM visit to Japan. The minister called for more cooperation especially in gas, oil and
energy sectors. The company delegate discussed more potential cooperation areas that may
strengthen energy and gas sectors.

Health ministry officials studying its approval by the ministry; a
Japanese company offering Bahrain drugs with reasonable prices.
Minister of Health, Sadiq Alshehabi, discussed with SBI Pharma the possibility of approving
its drugs in reasonable prices. Mr. Alshehabi wished the company would contribute to the
medical field in the country, insisting that the ministry has been getting its welfare services
improved to citizens and residents in all fields and aspects. The delegation showed in the
meeting some of Japanese health and pharmaceutical products supported by statistics,
showing that the products are high quality, standardized and with reasonable prices. No
side-effects have been registered except a little-digestive-system effect. The ministry
officials also discussed the drugs registration, where the company showed that they are
registered in Japan and sought to be registered in international institutions. The ministers
showed interest in obtaining documents about the products to study, where common
meetings with the BDF hospital, King Hamad hospital targeting a study related to the
products safety should be held. The Japanese delegation expressed thanks and
appreciations to the minister of health and the ministry officials for their interest and for
giving them the opportunity to offer their company's services and products, hoping for a
fruitful cooperation with the ministry. Ministry of health also thanked the delegation on the
visit. Drawing attention that the ministry is looking for more cooperation to improve health
services and to provide the best possible of pharmaceutical and health products to the
Bahraini society.

Japanese SBI offering Alshehabi approved pharmaceutical products.
Minister of Health Sadiq Alshehabi in his office in the ministry court met with a
Japanese delegation from SBI Pharmaceuticals, attended by the undersecretary for
hospital affairs and other officials in the ministry. In the beginning he welcomed the
guests and wished for utilizing their expertise in the medical field. He emphasized
that the ministry is keen to improve its services to all citizens and residents. During
the meeting, the delegation presented some of its medical and pharmaceutical
products being manufactured in Japan supported by statistics, emphasizing that they
are high quality products in reasonable prices. Only few side effects related to
digestion have been observed for the drugs. The ministry then discussed the
approval of the drugs where the delegation showed it is approved by international
bodies. Ministry officials showed interest to know more details about the products
where other meetings to be held between the BDF hospital and KHUH to get a full
study of applicability and safety.

Confirming his country's commitment to Hurmouz strait security, Sumi said:
Two Japanese minesweepers arriving on Sep 14th
to participate in international defense
war-games.
Japanese Ambassador in the Kingdom of Bahrain Shigeki Sumi said that marine self defence
forces that belong to the Japanese armed forces will be sending to Bahrain two
minesweepers to participate in a defense exercise with 20 other states due to be carried out
between Sep 16-20, poinBng out that minesweepers will be arriving Bahrain on Sep 14th
and
will be staying for two weeks. Sumi also explained in a statement for "Alayam" that
Bahraini-Japanese cooperation does not stop in economic aspects. In the defence side,
Japan Self defence forces is sending two minesweepers to Bahrain to participate in a

defence exercise along with 20 other states, that would be arriving Bahrain on Sep 14th
and
will be staying for 2 weeks. In another regard, He revealed that a preliminary study has been
conducted by Kinoshita Pearls recently that showed the limited reserves of natural pearls in
the Kingdom's sear territories and its small size, where among a hundred only one
productive shell is found with very little production. He then said" We need an expert to
investigate how the size and quality of natural pearls can be improved in Bahrain". He also
expected Japanese experts to arrive Bahrain the end of Sep.
He then explaines that SBI Pharmaceutical has recently signed an agreement with three
Bahraini hospitals to begin a study of developability of medicines and Japanese
pharmaceutical lotions appropriate to the local market aiming at making them approved in
the future. He then said: "There is an agreement signed between three working hospitals
and the Japanese company to start testing and studying any Japanese medicine that can
manufactured in the Kingdom (..) the SBI will be building a big manufacturing plant for
medicines in Bahrain to serve Bahrain and the region and will be developing medicines
appropriate to the gulf needs". He then proceeds:" a delegation from the SBI visited Bahrain
in the last three weeks and met with officials in medicine and health, and they are now
conducting tests and investigations to medicine types that can be approved and that suits
Bahrainis". Noteworthy that during the visit of HM to Japan last April, an agreement of
cooperation has been signed between the BDF and Japanese SBI, which was signed by
Sheikh Khaled bin Hamad Aal-Khlifa on behalf of Bahrain, and minister of trade and economy
on behalf of japan.
"Alayam" also surfing the page of the SBI found that 5-ALA is a constituent in all of their
medical and pharmaceutical products, which is also found in foods like tea, vinegar, and
white radish. Their developed list of products consist of medicines for brain tumor, cancer
treatment, early diagnosis of cancer and metabolic syndrome like in obesity, and also food
supplements, cosmetics, skin moisturizing lotions.
About the Japanese IT centre proposal, he said:" this was an idea of Minister of industry and
commerce which is still under discussion to define equities and users (..) the ministry of
industry and commerce is currently studying the IT project".
About his impression of the outcomes of the visit by HM in April, Sumi said:" It was very
great, and is opening new aspects of cooperation and is contributing to make Japanese
businessmen be more interested in the Bahraini market (..) the visit of HM wa a big
opportunity to show the Japanese business community the investment and business friendly
environment, and reflecting what has been achieved in essential infrastructure projects (..) I
wish more Japanese companies enter the Bahraini market for it promising fields of
investment such as oil fields etc."

KHUH starting to use modernist cancer diagnosis equipment
KHUH is starting using the modernist equipment for cancer early diagnosis by including HLPC
which can determine whether cancer exists or not in a patient in its early stages that
facilitates treatment. Sheikh Salman bin Atayat-Allah Al-khlaifa, the KHUH chief, that early
cancer diagnosis can be achieved by this new apparatus, before a tumor is formed which
facilitates its treatment. He also said that this equipment spares gastroscopy and other
surgical diagnostic methods. Sheikh Salman bin Atyyat-Allah Alkhlifa is progressing well in its
plan to make cancer treatment and diagnosis available to citizens and residents, aiming at
making Bahrain as advanced as developed countries in this regard. A team from th KHUH has
participated in training programme organized by SBI Pharmaceuticals, to get training about a
new method for cancer early diagnosis. The team included physician Amina Abdul-Jabbar
and laboratory technician Yaser Abdulrazzaq. He pointed out that the training programme
and research scheme is including training on new 5-ALA applications, diagnosis, sampling
and cancer diagnosis by light which is including all skills and techniques to operate the light
system, for diagnosis and treatment which in turns provides a better quality of life for
patients, in addition to training about how to use the HPLC and its maintenance.

Japanese Companies looking for investment opportunities in Bahrain
Minister of Industry and Commerce Dr. Hassan Abdulla Fakhro headed a third
meeting to follow up the visit by HM to Japan, which brought about various
agreements in many cooperation fields and mutual interest between Bahrain and
Japan. This was attended by HE the Ambassador of the Empire of Japan Shigeki Sumi
and other economic delegate members who participated in the visit which included
businessmen, directors of big corporations and other members of Bahrain-Japan
Friendship society.
During the meeting, Minister of Industry and Commerce praised big efforts and
cooperation shown by the Japanese ambassador in Bahrain and his Bahraini
counterpart in the friend nation of the Empire of Japan, in addition to that shown by
national corporations and concerned institutions, businessmen and investors; which
strengthen mutual relations, implement the memoranda of understanding signed
between the two countries.
From his side, the Ambassador of Japan to Bahrain expressed his appreciation to
keen interest and follow-up of the ministry of industry and commerce for such
important visits of leaders and officials in both countries, stressing the importance of
this follow-up to optimize the utilization of mutual visits and activities.
Latest developments have been discussed in the meeting related to ongoing
economic projects and that which are being established or under consideration such
as an IT centre in Bahrain cooperating with the Japanese and serving the whole
region. The last quarter of this year is planned to have many visits and activities
between both countries, which are expected to outcome many mutual projects in
economic sectors that would have a great effect of achievement for both countries
as a result to the visit of HM to Japan. There is shown interest from several Japanese
professional companies to invest in Bahrain, such as SBI Pharma; which is visiting
Bahrain nowadays and working in pharmaceuticals and looking for cooperation with
hospitals in Bahrain, and available investment opportunities. Kinoshita Pearls is also
making visits to Bahrain to look for investment opportunity and Bahraini
shareholders to rehabilitate the natural pearl sector and what the company can give
to make this sector active again. Other companies are also lookg to invest in Bahrain,
such as TBM Keeplus working in paper industry technology.

investment project in Salman industrial area. The meeting was attended by

regional projects in the meeting, pointing out that appropriate infrastructure and
investment laws, beside big advantages offered by the government of Bahrain for

Minister of Industry and Commerce Hasan Fakhro met yesterday in his office with the COO
of the Japanese SBI, Satafoumi Kawata; who is currently visiting Bahrain heading officers in
the company to discuss establishing a big investment project in the Kingdom of Bahrain in
Salman industrial City.
During the meeting with the company which is one of the biggest in Japan, the minister
expressed his being honored and proud to host tens of huge and various international and
regional projects, pointing out that the appropriate infrastructure, investment laws and
other advantages provided by the government to investors strengthened investment in the
country and made it a best destination for international investments regionally. The MOIC
