It Was a Big Week!

So, how is everybody feeling after the first week of full band camp? Are you bodies sore? Are you super tired? Did you have some laughs and learn a ton of music and marching?

Thank you for your smiles! Thank you for your commit-ment! Thank you for making the work so very worth it all. This is way too hard to do if it isn’t also fun. Students make it fun.

As we head into the final week of full band camp, con-tinue to stay hydrated, ask questions when you have them and work hard. March-ing Band is the biggest un-recognized team sport out there and our Hawk Family is only getting stronger togeth-er!

By now, you should have re-ceived a packet of paperwork from Centennial High School. When we hear of this type of information, we will try to pass it along here, as well.

Seniors and Juniors can pick up their schedules Monday, July 29 from 9:00 - 11:00 am in the gym. Sophomores will pick up their schedules on Tuesday July 30 and Fresh-

men will be able to get theirs on Wednesday, July 31. The Band Directors will allow some time in the morning for students to take care of this business. Please note: they will not release schedules unless all their paperwork is signed and submitted that morning.

If you haven’t yet received a packet in the mail, consider

calling CHS at 527-9330 to make arrangements to pick up the paperwork.

Also, remember, this has nothing to do with the batch of paperwork for band. Blank copies are available in the band office and a list of students with missing band paperwork is posted on the band office window.

This Friday evening, we cordially invite you to come see what all this hard work is about, as we host our annual Hawks at Sunset.

We have some special surprises in store for our students and we are so excited to show you what they’ve learned. We will feed the students dinner at the conclusion of band camp and invite you to join us, a little before 7:00 pm. Bring a chair and enjoy a casual dinner from a wonderful food truck. Then, sit back and relax as our students perform their music for their first audience as a Hawk Family.

The performance will begin at 7:00 pm.

We will be in the shaded patio area, adjacent to the band room.

We are so proud of our students and their instructors and we can’t wait to share their amazing talent with all of our families!

Poster, Pop Socket Fundraisers Coming Soon!

Last year was the first year that we created a Band poster. The photog-raphy was donated by Palomara Photog-raphy and students sold one ad each for $100. This is a very easy way to earn a lot of money. We will have more infor-mation at the parent meeting, but, for now, begin to think of businesses you can approach to sell one business-card sized ad for $100. We have leftover posters from last year, if you’d like to see one.

We are also going to be asking every student to sell 2 Pop Sockets - you know, those things that are on the back of every teen’s phone? Ours are black with the CHS Hawks logo. We will be showing a sample at the Parent meeting. These will sell for $5 each, netting us a profit of almost $3 per sale.

Finally, we will have show shirts for sale for $15. They will be free to students. Thanks to the generosity of Comet Cleaners, we earn 100% of the profit from these sales. Show shirts available for purchase at Hawks at Sunset!

Join Us for Hawks at Sunset

1. The website for New Mexico Alcohol Certification is: way-toserve.org. I had it wrong in the power point presentation. :0)

2. An easy fundraiser is to use the Amazon Smile option for all of your Amazon purchases. Simply enter “Amazon Smile” into the Amazon search bar. You will then have options to “Choose Your Charitable Or-ganization”. Search for Cen-tennial Band Parent Associa-

tion. Click on it; and that’s all there is to it! Then, we earn a portion of every purchase you make through the program.

3. The drumline will be playing at the St. Genevieve Festival on Saturday, September 8 in the morning. This was left off the calendar.

4. The entire band will be march-ing in the Hatch Chile Festival Parade on Saturday, August 31 in Hatch, NM. I believe the date was incorrect in the Pow-er Point.

As you can see, there are a lot of moving parts. If you ever notice an omission or error, please let us know. We want the information to be accurate.
