“New Federalism”, as defined by Ronald Reagan, shifted the power from the national level to the state level. He created this change in power because he believed that the federal government was incapable of catering to the individual’s
needs in comparison to the state.

Advantages:-More state power
--people get more of what they want
-Less gov’t power--gov’t is not in control
-Ex. Katrina, the federal governments response was ineffective
Disadvantages:-States would be too equal-Cause problems nationally-People wouldn’t have the same rights in different states-Ex. Gay marriage rights not the same nationally
