New Zealand Company Registration: How Long Does it Take
New Zealand is known as a jurisdiction with one of the fastest company registration processes in the world. The entire procedure of registering a new New Zealand company can be completed very quickly, but several factors can influence how long it will take.
New Zealand Companies
New Zealand Companies can be incorporated in less than a day if all of the proper
documents can be presented and signed by the Shareholders and Directors of the
proposed New Zealand company.
The New Zealand Companies Office can approve the application to reserve the name of a
New Zealand Company within an hour of the initial lodgment.
Once the name is reserved, the Companies Office can be provided with the information
regarding the Company's Shareholders, Directors and addresses.
When all the details have been provided, the Directors and Shareholders will need to sign
Consent forms and submit the originals to the Companies Office. The Consents will need
to be accompanied by certified copies of the Proof of Identity and Proof of Residence for
the individuals.
Once all the documents are received by the Companies Office, the processing of the
application can be completed within one working day.
If your New Zealand Company registration is being handled by a reputable specialist in
New Zealand, the entire process of registering a New Zealand company can take less than
2 working days from when your documents are received.
In some cases, the registration time may be even shorter, if the Companies Office has
already sighted recent copies of necessary documents for the Shareholders and Directors.
New Zealand Look Through Companies
New Zealand Look Through Companies are regular New Zealand companies which have
applied for and been granted New Zealand Look Through Company status.

In order to register a New Zealand Look Through Company, it is first necessary to register
a New Zealand Company, which may take as little as one day.
The application for Look Through Company status requires the shareholders of the
Company to pass a Shareholder resolution to become an LTC and to complete an Look
Through Company election form.
Once the documents are completed and returned to your New Zealand Company
registration provider, the processing by the Inland Revenue Department may take up to
10 working days.
However, if the LTC application is granted before the Company is required to submit its
first Annual Return, the Look Through Status will apply from the day of incorporation for
the company.
