I’d like to thank each of you who sent me birthday greetings, cards, pictures,poems, tapes, gifts, prayers and prophecies. I appreciate each and every one,and most of all, your love for Jesus, as evidenced by your obedience andyieldedness. I’m also so thankful for your sincere and sacrificial prayers formy health; I truly depend on them.

After bleeding heavily for almost two-and-a-half monthsand becoming very weakened, as well as contracting a verybad persistent chest cough and lingering throat infection,as well as a secondary eye infection, I am just nowbeginning to experience a substantial improvement inall these areas, wonderful signs of the Lord’s prom-ised healing, due to your continued desperate prayersfor me. New Versions of GPStatements Coming

(From WS:) At the Structure workshopmeetings held after the Summit earlier thisyear, media spokespersons from around theworld were able to prayerfully read over and

review our GP Statements which present ourbeliefs and policies to the public. Most of these

were written nearly seven years ago, and whilethey have served their purpose thus far, several

are in need of updating in order to reflect our presentmode of operation, the Charter, etc. This project is

now in the works, and you should soon be receivingrevised versions of several of our Statements.

Until such a time, however, we’d like to ask that you discontinuedistributing certain Statements to the GP. These are: “Our Origins,” “OurResponse to Allegations of Child Abuse,” and “Attitudes, Conduct, Cur-rent Beliefs and Teachings Regarding Sex.” You may keep copies ofthese on hand in your Homes to refer to if needed, but in general wewould advise that you take these out of circulation, as some points donot accurately or completely reflect our current views and lifestyle.

We trust that the new, updated versions will be a blessing to you inyour follow-up and in answering any questions directed at you from themedia, officials and other interested parties. Please pray for those whoare working on updating the Statements.l

The Today program is the news program listened to firstthing in the morning by millions of British people as they get up and go to work. It isthe one that the Prime Minister and other MPs love to go on as it is a key newsprogram. Although brief, it was positive and well balanced; we thank the Lord for Hisopen doors to stand up for the truth.

(From Vincent, 15, of Chris and Ruthie:) While on our SWIFT this summer, we wereinvited to attend a Christian conference in Beijing for five days. It was organized by theForeign Fellowship of Beijing, and this year included people of 35 different nationalitiescoming from all over China. The main speakers were French-Canadian, and thespeeches were given in English and French. We were able to share some of the thingsthat Dad has taught us; it was interesting to see how some of the things the Family hasknown for years are only recently being revealed and understood by other Christians.

Every topic covered during the conference confirmed what I’ve been reading in theLetters all my life. The Family is so far ahead! I was kind of curious to know if therewould be any “new” winds of doctrine. I wanted to listen to something different fromwhat I already know, but the topics of the conference were “Our Position in Christ” andthe “Spiritual Warfare.” It was almost word for word what is already covered in theLetters. The wonderful advantage that I didn’t appreciate before is that we have theWord in black and white. Most of these 300 people will have only a memory of it.

It also made me thankful for the music we have, as their “praise and worship” musicgravitates around the same songs, with very little variety in the rhythm and lyrics.

GHANA

(From Emmanuel and the Accra SchoolHome:) Our team has been in Accra, thecapital of Ghana, for two months now. Wecan certainly say that the field is all that wehad hoped it to be. People are so sweetand receptive, and appreciate the Word. Itis a challenge, but one that the Lord isequal to.

As our plane to Accra soared into theheavens and over the Mediterranean Sea,we could see the red sands of the Saharapass underneath us. You could actuallyfeel the heat from the land below even inthe plane, and the clouds themselves hada reddish tinge. After about two hours, thered sand gave way to the yellow-green ofthe African savanna.

Airport technology in Africa is still in thepast, as are so many other things. We wentthrough immigrations with no problems, buthad our first encounter with the official redtape here at customs with the computer wewere carrying. After we pleaded andexplained about our work, they had mercyon us for a “small consideration” andallowed it through.

Then we were out into the night. Thefirst thing you become aware of is the heat.It’s like walking into an oven! Then theconfusion. Everywhere people are offeringto help you with your luggage, taxis, etc.Thank the Lord for our sweet Family whowas there to meet us. They fended off allthese oversolicitous souls and loaded ourmountain of luggage into their vehicles,then off we drove!

God bless Steven and Maria and theirHome. We had originally asked to stay fora night, but they took in stride the newsthat our promised house fell through, andimmediately let us know that we could staywith them while we looked for somewhereelse to stay. With time we saw the wisdomof the Lord in having us stay with thisprecious pioneer team, as we were able tobenefit from their experience as weadjusted to the unfamiliar conditions.

The day after we earnestly prayed forthe Lord to lead us to a house that wouldbe suitable for our vision of running a smallkindergarten from it, we found a house thatwas perfect. The landlady is a Christianand when she heard that we wanted to useher house for the Lord’s work, she reducedthe rent to a price that we could afford andalso accepted only three months’ deposit,instead of the one or two years’ that isnormally the case here!

Life here is very simple and the peoplehave a tremendous vacuum. It’s veryChristian—there are signs everywhere thatsay things like “Jesus is the greatest,” and“the Lord will provide” in both English andthe local language. People are veryrespectful of missionaries and listeneagerly, though many of them are disillu-sioned by the hypocrisy of the churches,that often seem to be more interested inpeople’s money than their souls.

We have been visiting a center for streetchildren in downtown Accra. The childrenthere are surprisingly well behaved whenyou consider the conditions under which

they are growing up. We discovered on ourfirst visit that they have only nine desks forthe 240 pupils who attend the center everyday, so we are in the process of provision-ing wood for desks. So far we have sixdesks and promises of wood for more. Wewere also able to give the children someprovisioned clothes and books which webrought with us from England. (God blessJoy, Gideon and Rachel, and Cedar in theUK, who made this possible by provision-ing the goods and shipping.) The childrenwere appreciative and so happy to havethese gifts.

It’s a super blessing to be here. Lots ofFUN—both on the witnessing front andothers. Nearby we have gorgeous tropicalbeaches, and also a famous botanicalgarden which the British planted when theywere here. We’ve also got all kinds of localyummies such as coconuts, papayas,mangoes, fish and so on.

At the moment the country is in themidst of an energy crisis. Most places havepower only half the time, which has meantthat many businesses have had to close orcut back on production.

The country is not very large, and thereare already two fairly large teams here, so itmight not be the best place for morefamilies at the moment, but we are prayingfor laborers—teens, YAs and SGAs—asthere is plenty to do here. Please pray for usand the work here as we claim Psalm 2:8.We need a lot, both financially and aboveall, your prayers. Please help the work herein Ghana in whatever way you can.l


Heart to Heart at the Jaresh Festival � 1998

Last year, you may recall, in-betweenthe Jaresh Festival and the BabylonFestival in Iraq, we received quite a

bit of help on our dancing from a topPalestinian choreographer. This year heagain volunteered his services, comingfor about six to seven hours every singleday for two weeks straight, at absolutelyno charge, feeling �called� to help usand to improve the authenticity of ourArabic dance numbers.

We likewise met a friend of his oneevening at the beginning of our rehears-als here, when he took the singing teamto a localconcert of folkdance and song,who also endedup helping uswith the Arabicvocals andpronunciationfor the singers.

Finally a Syrianmusician lent hishelp in fine-tuning our basictracks, whichthough accord-ing to everyonethat we metwere �good�were not �Arabic.� It was encouraging tosee the Lord helping us to genuinely�become one� in our programs, throughthe help of these locals and professionalsin their field.

In addition, one of the male dancers(YA Jeremy, of Joyful) who had comefrom Thailand, came down with chickenpox after arriving, so we were short ofmale dancers. When he realized this, thechoreographer brought a couple ofstudents of his to dance with the team.They were integrated into our dance

team on a couple of Arabic medleyswhich he choreographed.

The Lord also led us to come up witha tabla player, the tabla being one of themain sounds in Arabic music. We felt thatit would be a tremendous addition, notonly visually, but also audio-wise. Theyoung man that we ended up having joinus is considered one of the best tablaplayers in the country. This greatlyenhanced the visual side of our program,making it much fuller than last year, as wehad three people playing instruments, twogirls on backups, three or four vocalists,

and about eight dancers on some num-bers, really filling up the stage! This yearthe entire program was Arabic except fortwo songs. It was quite a bit of work butthe Lord helped us put together a veryexciting and new program.

We began our first performance onThursday night (we performed during thefirst four days of the festival), July 23, inthe Forum, which is the large open portionof the Jaresh Festival, sort of a town squarewhere the actual Jaresh flame is burning.

The attendance was surprisingly low

this year as apparently the country wasdepressed at the news of the King beingtaken ill. (Editor�s note: He was diag-nosed with lymphoma, a form of cancer,and is undergoing chemotherapy in theU.S.) We feel that the low attendancewas in some ways the Lord�s doing, as itmade our program a major highlight inthe festival. Our program gave a mes-sage of hope and culminated in a song inhonor of His Majesty King Hussein�which seemed to lift everybody�s spirits.Despite the limited number of people inthe physical audience (probably 1000 or2000), the Lord magnified our witnessthrough the mass media.

After the first night�s performance, abeautiful article with a photograph cameout in a widely read Arabic daily,mentioning that the Family was the silkthread holding the entire Festival to-gether. It called us not only �one of themost beautiful lights shining� but in the

opinion of many �thebrightest star in the sky

of Jaresh� this year. Word had it that�the Heart to Heart group had the bestprogram this year at Jaresh.�

The highlight of the festival came thelast night of our show as we were settingup the sound and getting prepared forthe evening�s performance. We noticedthat some platforms were being erected.It turned out that JTV (Televisionnetwork) in conjunction with ART(Arabic Regional Television, a bigsatellite network in this part of the world)had decided to film the show in itsentirety, bringing in the best televisionequipment that we�ve ever seen used fora Family performance. Now it seems thatthe entire show (55 minutes) will bebroadcast to the entire Arab world! Sothe message will reach millions of Arabsthis year! We also heard through one ofour relatives that some of our programwas aired in the US as well! PTL!l

our “battle” vocabulary—to a staff member

I think the Lord is trying to change our mindset in the way we view certainwords, like “battles.” He’s trying to get us more used to having that word within our

vocabulary, so it won’t be like, “Oh, here comes this terrible battle!” Battles are just partof our lives; it’s what we do for a living, ha! We’re professional soldiers, and fightingbattles is just what we do. So goodness, we can’t be so fearful every time we hear

the word “battles,” ’cause what do we expect? Of course we’re going to havebattles. That’s what we joined the army for. And if you look at it in a

positive light, if you hang on to the Lord, fight through and winthe victory, then those weaknesses we battle turn

into strengths.

Our Queen�s BirthdayFour or five days before Mama’s birthday rolled around,

Gabe and Amy opened the floor at dinner to discuss ideas forwhat we’d like to do to celebrate Mama’s birthday.

It’s easy to know what Mama loves most.—The Lord’s Words,straight from Heaven! And being that she has so many questions,we decided as a Home to give her treats straight from the spiritworld. We brainstormed a list of nearly 50 questions, from whichwe’ll list just a few:

Ä How will the Y2K computer bug affect the world, and the Family?Ä What will life be like in the Endtime?Ä What will be the Family�s biggest weakness in the Endtime, and ourgreatest strength?Ä Are there other solar systems with life?Ä A new happy birthday song.Ä When does the Lord choose to heal by supernatural means, as opposed tonatural means?Ä Messages from Mama�s spirit helpers�Rianna, Catherine the Great, etc.

Then we all signed up for a couple of them, which we prayedabout over the next few days. We thought that we had done a littlepre-planning in preparation for Mama’s birthday, but little did weknow that she had been doing some planning herself for morethan a month!

On July 30th, Mama arranged for us all to meet together in theevening for some special reading. Neither she nor Peter werethere, since for the last several weeks, Mama has been very weak.We dimmed the lights and read, for the first time, “Mama’sBirthday Party in Heaven—and on Earth!” (GN 798) Although thisGN had already gone out to the Family some weeks before, Mamahad kept it a secret from almost all of us, so that we could read iton the eve of her birthday. We then had desperate prayer forMama’s health. To close the evening, we called Mama up on theintercom and sang her “happy birthday.”

It could hardly be termed coincidence, but Mama’s birthday thefollowing day fell on our bi-monthly prayer morning! So all daylong, a steady stream of prophecies on a variety of subjects(which we prayed for on prayer morning) trickled into her room,making themselves available for her eager listening. As she putit: “I was in seventh heaven!”

On the same morning, we had another desperate round ofprayer for her healing. That afternoon, she also began toreceive her “gifts.” We presented her with a box of micro tapes(on which were the surprise prophecies) wrapped in ribbons,with a rose on it. Along with the tapes, we gave her a scroll,burnt around the edges, which contained a letter, received inprophecy, signed by all of us.

That night we celebrated with a homemade birthday dinner ofMama’s choice—her favorite—pizza! Followed by the usualbirthday snack of Mama’s choice—cheesecake! Yummy! Afterwhich we pulled out a guitar and tried out the

new HappyBirthday songthat someonehad receivedin prophecythat day.Afterpracticing it acouple oftimes, werecorded iton tape forMama tolisten tolater.l

There is such a variety of things that we won�t even begin to

spoil the surprise here. So with this humble gift and with

really a gift from the Lord since they are all His Words, but

we are thankful that He chose to use us as the channels to

3rd National Retreat Held forLive-outs —by Tommy, Juan and Ana, Brazil

In the middle of the World Cup playoffs, where the bestteams strive for the victories and glory this world has tooffer and billions tune in via TV, hidden away in the hills of

southeastern Brazil, over 200 of the Lord’s spiritual athletes metfor a crash Endtime prep course, which has qualified them for thefinals of the last “Endtime sprint” and Heavenly rewards!

From June 11-14, Family members (60 CMs, six FMs and 113live-outs) gathered from all over Brazil to celebrate the 3rd NationalRetreat for Live-outs and Friends, named “Christian LeadershipTraining: The Endtime Olympics and the Days of Preparation!” Ascompared to 80 participants in 1996 and 112 in 1997, this yearthere were 179 who attended all the seminars and meetingsduring the four days, and this swelled to 235 during the two closingmeetings.

In a nutshell it was non-stop witness-ing, Holy Ghost samples, gypsy dancing,visitors, etc. We won over 300 souls inpersonal witnessing over the course ofthree or four days. We also met formerFamily members and ones who had beenwith us in the past and still remainfavorable to the Family.

The elders of the Rainbow move-ment sent Rose (of Jay) a gift of asilver cross with five stones embeddedin it. They said the four stones on thecross represent the four corners of theearth and the center one is Heaven.They wanted to give it to Rose as arepresentative of the Family, and said

the Family most represents the idealsand the philosophy ofthe Rainbow Movement.

They very much recognizedour presence there; in fact we becamean official �tribe� of the Rainbowmovement and they appreciated ourattendance.

It was a terrific witnessing experi-ence for our young people, a numberof whom had never quite experiencedthat type of witnessing. I think it helped

them to see a little bit more clearly whatour roots are and the generation that wecame out of.

Rainbow Gathering: For over 25 years, members of the Rainbow movement have celebrated freedom in national forests and onpublic land during the Fourth of July weekend. Aside from its political statement, the gathering looks pretty much like a weeks-longrock concert, with dope-smoking, incessant drumming, incense haze and twirling dancers. The government calls the fest illegal.

The site is fully self-contained. There are a dozen kitchens, a medical tent, a lost and found, outgoing mail and message center.The Forest Service admits the group has an exemplary record for leaving sites clean. There are few rules. Clothing is optional, sex isfree, no weapons are allowed, the use of hard drugs is discouraged, but marijuana is everywhere.

According to Rainbow Rap 151—from the set of guidelines for the gathering—“The gathering is a prayer and peace sanctuary, nota tailgate party.”l

100 people gathered together, we wereone of the bigger united campsites.

A lot of people came together at themain drum circles, as well as anotherarea called the trading circle, where theybarter and trade different items. TheHare Krishnas had a big tent area, ofcourse, along with Jesus people. Interest-ingly, there was a Hasidic Jews� tent, andthose of our team who visited them saidthey were real sweet! They said that they

are losing a lot of their youth to theMoonies and Hare Krishna, and so areon the attack to win them back. Some

From as far north as Natal (3000 km.) and as far south asPorto Alegre (1200 km.), Family members from 14 cities in ninestates traveled by plane, train, car and chartered buses for thegathering of the tribes for the third consecutive year. The Lordsupplied a beautiful country hotel for our use with meeting rooms,overhead projectors, videos and large TVs, sound equipment,slide projectors, etc. There were 31 apartments (just enough for allthe attending couples), a small country house for the organizingcommittee to base out of, and four large dormitories with bunkbeds for all the singles! Although this meant that each dormitoryhad about 20 people in it, everyone took it with a lot of grace andchalked it up as part of their “Endtime prep!”

The main classes given at the retreat were: “The Ministry ofPrayer,” “The Gift of Prophecy: Hearing from the Lord Step byStep,” “Bitterness: How to Recognize It and Get Rid of It,” “Unity:Together We Stand,” “Overcoming the Financial Crisis,” “TheEndtime Olympics,” “Establishing a Church of Love in Your City,”and “The Spiritual Health Revolution.”

We also had “Testimony Night,” where each of the Homes and

cities present had 15 minutes to share the miracles the Lord hasdone recently in their area. There were tons of good ideas, tipsand life-changing testimonies shared that set everyone on fireand gave them a vision to win their cities for Jesus when theyreturn! Many of them also stay in touch through e-mail.

The Lord gave all the participants a special token of the eventin the closing ceremony: a gold-colored medal with an Olympicrunner on one side and the name, place and date of the eventon the other! They all “went for the gold” by traveling suchdistances to participate in the event, so they deserved it! GB dearlive-out Tânia of the discipleship group in São Paulo, whoprovisioned the 200 medals so each could get their own! Every-one flipped over their medals and posed for photos as conquer-ing athletes in the ET Olympics!

Although the preparations for this event, which is actually quitea “marathon,” require a lot of work for us live-ins (four months ofwork from the initial reserving of the hotel and the first communi-cations to all Homes up until the paying of the bills and thepacking of the equipment at the end of the event), it is definitelyworth it!

I recently got back from the RainbowGathering in Show Low, Arizona,which was a tremendous time of

witnessing together. Over 100 Familymembers showed up, most of who wereteens and SGAs, though there were anumber of adults also. The witnessingwas fantastic! It was very much likestepping back in time smack into the �60sand �70s at the height of the hippierevolution. There was a lot of dope andweed (marijuana),but the same spiritof freedom andseeking for love.We caught quite abit of it on videoand we�ll becompiling thehighlights into our

next NorthAmerican newsvideo.

Campsiteswere spread outover about a four-mile area withtens of thousandsof people gathered together in thewoods. We were on the directory at themain circle, and being that we were over

Louise, SGA: I�d have to say that I don�treally make decisions without hearing fromthe Lord anymore, that is, besides little thingslike what to wear today.�Maybe I shouldstart asking Him about that too, since it canbe quite perplexing, ha! You kind of get�cured� after a few times of Mama askingyou what you�re going to do about such-and-such: �Oh, so did you pray about that, andwhat did the Lord tell you?� �Oops! Eeek!How could I have forgotten?!�

The Lord�s help in decision-making is agodsend for me, as I have a very difficult timemaking up my mind. I reason something out tothe nth degree, go back and forth and add upthe pros and cons, and often find myself moreconfused than ever! So it�s a real blessing touse prophecy for both personal and workdecisions�to either get a confirmation orfurther instruction from the Lord on a decisionI�m already leaning towards making, or to justask Him for counsel when I haven�t a cluewhat would be best, and am not even surewhat I want.

Staff member, FGA: The other day I hada dentist appointment and I realized that Ihadn�t prayed and asked the Lord to confirm ifit was His will that I go to the dentist for thissensitive tooth. It wasn�t a terrible toothache,but when I drank something warm, it wassore.

I knew that I needed to pray, because Ireally didn�t want to end up going to thedentist and having something bad happen. Ionly had a few minutes, but I got a confirmingprophecy from the Lord that it was His will.He even told me that He was sending Hisangels to surround me and help me. (I�m alittle nervous about dentists.) I was very happythat I stopped and prayed; it gave me thepeace of mind that I was in the Lord�s will.

That�s just one example of how Mama hastaught us to ask for a message in prophecybefore doing anything and making anydecisions.

Francis, SGA: Well, I useit a lot more than I used to,

that�s for sure! I�m one of thosewho had a bit of a hard time withusing prophecy so much for every

question and problem. I guess itwas part of my �handicap of

natural ability,� not to mention my weaknesswith pride, because I felt like, �Aren�t theresome things that we should be able to figureout on our own instead of having to always askthe Lord? Surely the Lord trusts us to just usecommon sense sometimes!� Of course He does,and Mama and Peter and those here do use alot of common sense in decision-making. ButI�ve now found through experience thatsometimes the Lord operates contrary tocommon sense (just like Dad said in �Did GodMake a Mistake� many years ago), plus justknowing that I have heard from the Lord onthe decision, even if it just confirms what�common sense� would dictate, gives me a lotmore peace that the outcome is going to beokay.

Hearing from the Lord more is one area thatMama and Peter have helped me a lot in overthe last couple of years. I still have a ways togo�especially in the area of receiving personalprophecies, those related to personal matters asopposed to questions relating to my pubs oradministrative work. But seeing their sample,and with many helpful nudges (the Letter�Hearing from the Lord Step by Step� was abig blessing for me), I�ve come around to whereI�m convinced of the need for it and havewitnessed firsthand the blessings of doing it!

How often? Well, that depends a lot onwhen the questions come in. Some days therecan be a number of things that require prayerand prophecy, some days none. But I�ve foundthat it�s important to do it regularly, otherwiseit�s easy to lose the habit and start thinkingthat maybe I can figure this one out on myown instead of asking the Lord! Lord help me!

Are Gabe and Amy the onlyHome teamworkers?

Gabe, FGA: Amy and I do most of thepersonnel shepherding, but James, who has

traveled with Peter, started out as businessteamworker, and is fast taking on otherresponsibilities and is helping us withshepherding. He is a wonderful holy hole withthe gift of helps!

David has also been recently elected as ahelper in the Home, to help Amy and me withsome of the physical things. He�s beenoverseeing the handyman department, workingon scheduling, and making sure the practicalphysical aspects of the Home are runningsmoothly.

Rebecca, SGA: Gabe and Amy are alwaystrying to delegate as much responsibility toothers as possible�they really show a lot offaith in some of us crazy folks! Many areas ofHome responsibility are farmed out, so in asense, we all help to shepherd each other.Darren organizes the devotions schedule andreminds folks when they�re on; one of theyoung women helps to pass out the prophecyassignments that Mama assigns each prayermorning; another staff member takes care ofhome cleanliness and makes sure we do ourJJTs; each day a different person is respon-sible to remind us throughout the day to prayfor Mama, etc.

Do you listen to System musicin your Home?

Gabe, FGA: We try very hard to maintainthe standard of the Word. I would say themajority of the people in our Home are so busywith important responsibilities and deadlinesand doing all they can to help Mama andPeter in shepherding and feeding the Family,that System music is not an issue. Due to mostof our folks� desk jobs being those thatnecessitate complete concentration, manybarely have time to listen to any kind of music,much less System music.

Nevertheless, there are some people thatlike it and a few listen to it at times in theirroom, mainly instrumental music. There areother people who have made a personaldecision to completely cut out System musicfrom their lives, so that their channels can be

Misty, FGA: I personally never listen toSystem music, and I don�t think others in ourHome do much either. I don�t hear Systemmusic playing as I walk around the house,except every once in a while you hear someinstrumental type music. We don�t playSystem music for dance nights, except on rareoccasions when we might play one Systemsong. Once or twice we learned a country-western line dance from a video someone sentus, and after learning it we played a DollyParton country-western song and practicedour newly discovered talent, which was fun.

Amy, FGA: I�d have to really commendour young people here in the Home for beingso yielded to not listening to System musicmuch at all. We�ve never had much of aproblem with System music or folks gettingtoo into it, simply because we�ve asked ouryoung folks to not play it at dances or inpublic places. They knew that Mama andPeter preferred not having this around, so theymade a choice when first coming here thatthey would do it out of love for them and inobedience to the Word. Of course having theFTTs and Loving Jesus tapes has made amajor difference, as everyone has suchinspiring Family music to listen to.

Some folks occasionally listen to a littleclassical music, there�s a bit of ChristianVariety, instrumental music, some of theChristian Praise type songs and things like theMacarena, and on the odd occasion, a Systemsong or two at dance nights. But becausethey�re challenged to keep their spiritual livesas clean as possible, that�s what gives themthe yieldedness to refrain from listening to it,simply so they can do the best job they can intheir service to the Lord and the Family.

Darren, SGA: Occasionally,though it is kept to a minimum.If there is ever System musicplaying in public areas (which isusually just in the kitchen while

cooking or cleaning), it falls intothe �brackish� category�inother words, it�s Christian

music. We have classical and other instrumen-tal music tapes and CDs that we play asbackground music for dinners sometimes.Other than that, well, I guess you�d have toquiz each member personally.

Interestingly enough, we have discoveredamongst ourselves that quite a few of us youngpeople here like classical music�you know,like the Mozart/Tchaikovsky/Strauss kind ofstuff [the positive, uplifting pieces], believe itor not! However, it is usually the latest FTTsor Loving Jesus tapes that echo through thehalls here�simply because they�re so good,and addicting!

Louise, SGA: I don�t have time to listen tomuch music except on our dance nights (at

which we play Family music, and sometimesthe Macarena) or when I cook dinner (entermy FTT faves compilation, or one of theLoving Jesus tapes). I work at a desk and,most of the time at least, need to concentrateon what I�m doing, and find music�or shouldI say singing�distracting. Sometimes I playsome instrumental or classical music softly inthe background�you know, Mozart andBeethoven and those guys� music are supposedto enhance your brain power, and I figure Icould use that, ha!

Yvonna, SGA: Due to myministry, I have a bit more

opportunity to listen to musicthan some of my co-workers do. I

used to listen to non-Family musicquite a bit when I first came here�

�mild� things like soft rock and contemporaryChristian. Although I wasn�t forced to take asledgehammer to my System tapes, as mydesire grew to spend more time �in thetemple,� my desire for non-Family musicdwindled.

Now I can�t remember the last time I puton a non-Family tape.�Nor do I miss it,because it never inspired me quite like ourmusic does, and once you�ve had the best �nothing else quite cuts it anymore. SometimesI�ll think of a certain �great song� I used tolisten to, but even those can�t hold a candle tothe music our studios are putting out nowa-days.

How often do you see Mamaand Peter?

Rose, FGA: Since my ministry includescaring for Mama and Peter, I see them severaltimes a day. I go in and out of their room,bringing them their food, different things theyneed, collecting their dishes, etc.�Justanything to help!

Staff member, FGA: There�s no set ruleon how often we see Mama and Peter�it canvary. Mama communicates more via theintercom, and due to her health and work(since she�s usually unable to walk around thehouse) we visit with her �via intercom� often,and that really is like having her there inperson!

Besides times of meetings or dinners thatMama and Peter have with the Home, they�llsometimes show up by surprise at either one ofour Loving Jesus inspirations in the evening,or they�ll pop in unexpectedly at some otheractivity.

One time I ran into Mama late at night.She had heard a noise in the other end of thehouse and was concerned, and came all theway to find out what it was�so there wasMama walking around, checking up on things!One place Peter often shows up is thekitchen!�As he loves to come in and check upon �what�s cookin�!�

My room happens to be in very closeproximity to Mama and Peter�s. Onething that always amazes me ishow they both are so concernedif they are making too muchnoise that might disturb me!Mama is so faithful andsweet to ask, �Oh, did thisbother you?� Sometimesshe�ll say, �Well, I didn�twant to do that, becauseI was so concerned Imight disturb you.�She�s always sothoughtful aboutevery little detail,and especiallyconcerned aboutdisturbing people�sprayer or sleeptime!

Louise,SGA: I thinkthat most ofus �hear�them morethan we �see�

them�especially Mama.I probably see Peter brieflyevery few days, which isnice. Usually the only time Isee Mama is when she comesfor a dinner or meeting, which isprobably every month or two, onthe average. But I feel like I seeher because I hear her voice, at least


briefly every few days, and she�s so personableand natural when talking on the intercom.

A typical intercom conversation with Mamastarts off with a work question she needs toask you about. From there she takes a fewminutes to find out how you�re doing, tocomment on a note or tape or personalprophecy you�ve sent her recently. And usuallyby the time you�re done you have another workproject or prophecy assignment, ha!

Jenna, SGA: Thoughyou may not see Mamaaround much, you are everaware of her presence on theintercom lines. Often you�ll bechatting away with a co-worker, and unbeknownst to

you, �while you were laughing� Mama beepedyou (but since you�re already on the line withsomeone, you don�t hear the beep).

As your laughter is dying down, you hearthat familiar voice say, �Oh! What�s so funny?Tell me what happened!� Ooops! But no needto worry!�As you relate to her what you werelaughing about, she finds it funny as well. Youenjoy a sweet moment of fellowship; she says ashort prayer for you, then asks you to beep herlater whenever you�re done with your conver-sation.�That�s life with Mama!

Peter: Mama and I areusually very busy with all thework it takes to help feed andrun the Family. As such, wedon�t have a lot of time tofellowship with those in the

Home. We would like to spend more time withthem, as each one is so dear to us, but we haveto forgo that fellowship in order to focus onyou and your needs.

How do the finances work inyour Home?

Gabe, FGA: We have a budget and we tryto stick to it. Our budget is set low enoughthat we have to sacrifice. Many people whohave joined us have been a little surprised atthe low standard of some of our furniture, andthe austerity we have in our Home. We realizethat because we�re completely supported bythe tithes and offerings, it�s our responsibilityto try to keep our budget as low as possible.We know that any money that we need istaken from the field or from publications orfrom missions, so we try to keep our budget tothe minimum.

James, FGA: Dad was always faithful toremind us that the money we have is from themissionaries, and that we needed to be veryprayerful and careful how we use it. He wassuch a sample of that himself, always lookingfor bargains or used items, or any way to savemoney. When I came to the staff and sawfirsthand where Dad lived and how he lived, Isaw he was much more frugal than I had even

expected! You know how our enemies said thatDad lived in luxury?�I used to wish that theycould come and see for themselves! AndMama and Peter follow in Dad�s footsteps.

How does your get-out work?Do you have united get-outs,or is it every man to himself?

Staff member, FGA: We have a widerange of get-out possibilities, depending on theweather!�From united sports, to powerwalking or jogging two by two, biking, some ofus do aerobics (with various videos to choosefrom), or taking a nice stroll while havingprayer vigil orfellowship two bytwo. Sometimeswe solo, but forthe most part wechange aroundoften�eitheractivities orpartners!

In recentmonths we set upan exercise room,which has provento be a big blessingfor us when we arenot able to haveother forms of get-out. All the girlsjoined together onan �attack day� toclear out an unusedroom that was indesperate need ofde-junking! In thedays that followed, our handymen gave thewalls a coat of paint, and out of differentscrap wood one of the boys built and put up anexercise bar along one wall.

We have a couple of simple �steppers�(small exercise machine), a stationary bike, arowing machine and a few other exercisegizmos at one end of the room�all of whichwere either given to us or purchased at adiscount price. We also were given a ping-pong table by our landlord, which gives otherget-out possibilities. In the middle of this roomwe have clear floor space for dancing andexercises. And our dear King Peter donatedhis tape player to the room too, which providesus with good tunes to move to!

It�s not unusual to have several of us thereworking out during a common get-out time,doing aerobics, dancing, biking, stepping,stretching, sit-ups, pull-ups, etc. It�s great funand keeps us in shape!

Do you have a sharing sched-ule, or how does your sharingwork?

Gabe, FGA: Amy and I, as shepherds ofthe Home, want everyone to be happy in their

sharing or non-sharing schedules. Some peoplehave more dates; other people have less. Wefeel that is a personal decision on how muchthey need and how much they want.

Of course, there�re some people who wouldlike to have more dates, but there aren�talways members of the opposite sex who areable or willing to give more, both male andfemale. Hence, we have found that arrangingsome type of schedule or agreement withdifferent ones is helpful.�Either we help toensure that their needs are met, or if they�dprefer to freelance, that�s fine also.

Because we are human and often it�sdifficult to give and share, we as shepherdsneed to get involved in the sharing and point

out todifferentones theneeds ofothers,and try toencouragethem to domore.Throughsimplypointingit out,peopleusuallysee theneed anddo theirpart tomake it ahappyHome bysharing.

Thereis sharing between SGAs and FGAs. I thinkthat as a Home, we�ve done pretty well in thisarea. I think the area that both FGAs andSGAs need to work on is in sharing with thosewe aren�t necessarily attracted to�goingmore by the need rather than the want.

Misty, FGA: Yes, I have a sharingschedule, and so does Matthew, my mate.We�re very busy, so we�ve found if we don�tschedule our dates with others it�s easy toprocrastinate on them, or miss them alto-gether, which is a shame, as we miss out on allthat fun time having sex and loving ourprecious Husband together with our other�mates!�

For years I have had a regular weekly datewith one of the single FGA men, although whoit is has changed from time to time. Then Ifreelance with the other men for another dateeach week, when I have the time. I often haveto forgo the second date, either because thingsare really busy or I�m just too tired. I�veshared a number of times with almost all theFGA men, and all the SGA men in our Home.To me there�s no difference as far as thesexual excitement with FGA and SGA men�they�re both really desirable and yummy! But Ihave to admit that being with young men tooksome getting used to for me. I felt a little self-

conscious at first. But our SGAs are all verysweet, sexy and free in the spirit, and thatself-consciousness didn�t last long. Praise theLord! It�s really fun!

Matthew shares with all the FGA women inthe Home regularly, except for a couple whoare married or who have other regularpartners. He also has shared with all the SGAwomen, and some he shares with regularly.He�s faithful to have two dates a week withothers. God bless him!

We�ve found that it helps to also schedulesome special time together for the two of us tohave dates each week. Of course, we oftenmake love at other times, but at least withsome kind of definite schedule for us, too, ithelps us plan ahead and stop work earlyenough to have a nice time together�youknow, something a little special with music,candles, wine, lingerie, etc. I think that�s verynecessary when you�re sharing regularlyoutside your marriage, especially if eitherpartner battles jealousy (like I do). If you andyour mate are not having much time togetherand you�re not taking the time to make love,but your mate is sharing with others, naturallyyou�ll get hit more with comparing, insecurity,jealousy, etc.

For those reasons we�ve found thatscheduling dates works well for us. Otheradvantages are that you can �anticipate,�which is half the fun; you can make sureyou�re well groomed for your dates (hairwashed, beard shaved, etc.), and if you dohappen to battle jealousy, with scheduled datesyou know what to expect and can be moreprepared or can plan a date on the same nightthat your mate has one.

Staff member, SGA: There�s no chart orspinner to decide who you will share with. It�sa personal decision and it�s really just betweenyou and the person(s) involved. There is quitea bit of sharing between the generations too,which definitely helps our unity as a whole.But since we do live with the same peopleyear-round, eventually some sort of scheduleemerges between some folks. But it�s not likeGabe and Amy say �you and you�overthere!� It�s our choice, and it�s left up to us towork out.

Staff member, FGA: I have a regularsharing schedule for some dates that I haveevery week, and then I freelance a little too.As a matter of fact, I�m going to have a datetonight with one of the young men, and I�msure it�ll be lots of fun!

Staff member, SGA: Sharing is some-thing that is difficult for me, and the desire toshare with any number of people doesn�t comenaturally. I�m usually motivated by sexualattraction, close friendship or emotional love,and have some difficulty stepping outside ofthose bounds.�Not that that is the way itshould be, but I have to make a special effortor schedule myself to spend time with othersor I just don�t get around to it.

Darren, SGA: I have my �regulars,�whom, merely for the sake of convenience, Ihave scheduled dates with. It�s not exactly asharing schedule as in �I�m with Lucy onMonday, Suzy on Wednesday, Linda onFriday� or anything like that, but more like an�arrangement� that every other week I�ll havea date with Lucy on Friday, and the otherweek I�ll have a date with Suzy on Wednesday.Then, if I feel like having another datesomewhere in between, I work it out by askingany of the other girls (both first and secondgeneration) if they will be �free� that night, orsome night in the near future.

Are you all faithful to keepyour Praise Times?

Staff member, FGA: Oh, boy! Well, Iknow we all keep one for sure, and that�s ourunited praise time at devotions. I think most ofus really try and probably do it twice a day,and some people probably do it three times.But I don�t think we�ve attained 100%. Rightnow my roommate has a sign on her desk toremind her to keep praising, and it�s helpedme too!

Darren, SGA: I try to be faithful, but Ioften forget. I have a reminder that pops upon my computer at the appropriate times. Wedecided as a Home to have one of our praisetimes unitedly, and that�s become a regularpart of our morning devotions. Since everyonerotates on hosting morning devotions, there isa lot of variety in what we do for our morningPraise Times.

Staff member, SGA: I often miss thenoon and evening praise times, but manypeople do take those times to praise and thankthe Lord for our multitude of blessings.Praising is more of a mindset here; while wemay miss the �set� times, it�s not unusual tosee a couple of people having praise timetogether at another time of day. I personallycould do much better in this area. It seemsthat the more I praise, the more I find topraise our wonderful Lover for.

What sacrifices do you maketo live at Mama’s Home?

Rose, FGA: Before I came tothe Folks� house I was living inanother WS Home with mymate and child, so this wassomething that I had toforsake. (My daughter isgrown now and is off in a far-

flung mission field, and my former mate hasgotten remated.) Of course I miss them, butTTL, He is taking very good care of them andhas blessed my life richly in so many wayssince coming here.

Gabe, FGA: The greatest sacrifice for me

is not being able to witness and litness. Myfirst love from the time I joined the Familywas to get out the Words of David. From thetime I joined I was on the road. When�Shiners or Shamers� came out I wasdistributing lit. During the final two yearsbefore joining WS, I left my shepherdingposition so that I could be a full-timewitnesser.

I�ve been in the Folks� house since 1981, soI missed the poster revolution, although I didparticipate in it with Dad. As we all know, he�sthe one that had the burden for the posters,and as each one was finished I hung it on hiswall. It started with two or three and endedwith 75 posters. He had a wall full of posters!

The second greatest sacrifice for me is thatI would love to be able to visit some of theHomes. Any Family member, whether youngor old, has gone through severe battles,forsakings and breakings to continue on in theFamily. I know they have done this because oftheir love for the Lord and their love for lostsouls. I admire their faith for continuing on inspite of much persecution, hardships, financialsacrifices, etc. I would love to go around to theHomes and tell them how proud we are ofthem, and encourage them that we arefighting with them and that we admire theirfaith. We know the sacrifices they have madeto continue on. I�d love to go out and witnesswith them and help them in their ministries, asI know they�ve given up a lot to serve theLord.

Misty, FGA: After I gotused to being in WS, the

sacrifices became muchless. It takes a while tobecome accustomed to notgoing out much, not having

contact with other Family members, and notwitnessing freely or daily. Also, I had to getused to sitting at a desk for long hours, as Iwas used to being much more active withwitnessing, etc. But now those sacrifices aremuch easier to live with; I no longer get stir-crazy or feel like the walls are closing in onme�ha!

But I still miss not being able to see myson, daughter-in-law and grandchildren more.I�d say that�s the biggest sacrifice for mepersonally. That has always been my �Isaac.�But the Lord has been very generous and hasworked out some visits in recent years, forwhich I�m very thankful!

Besides, I comfort myself in knowing thatthere are plenty of parents in the Family whoare NOT in WS who don�t see their kids orgrandchildren much either, as we�re all busy inour respective fields. Lots of parents aredistant from their kids because they�re puttingthe Lord first. That�s just part of being adisciple. But there are many blessings thatgreatly outweigh the sacrifices.

Staff member, SGA: There are a fewsacrifices, though I�d say that the blessingsand benefits and fulfillment far outweigh the

sacrifices. Nevertheless, I think one of thegreatest sacrifices is not being able to shareany details of the country I�m in, the newexperiences I�m having, new friends I�ve made,the kinds of food I eat, etc., with my friendsand loved ones in distant lands.

Another sacrifice�or should I say price�of being here that I�ve discovered, is that as aresult of living here the Lord often brings usthrough challenging experiences and battlesand breakings�not that you all don�t havethose too. But see, as we go through these�special� experiences, we hear from the Lordin our desperation to get victories and find aray of sunlight; then Mama publishes thoselifesaving (tried and proven!) prophecies in aGN or in �From Jesus � With Love,� for youall, who are (as the Lord knew you would be)going through some of the very same things!

So we�re �guinea pigs,� in the sense thatthe Lord allows each one here to go throughthe same tests that you, our loved ones in theFamily at large, are going through.�Sometimes it seems like they�re more concen-trated too, ha! Well, we endure them becausewe love the Lord, and we know that He makesus better through every single test.

Matthew, FGA: Not many! I can�tprovision; I can�t witness; I can�t visit the restof the Family unless I am able to travel withPeter to a meeting; I can�t see my childrenvery often.�But I�ve never made a sacrifice!The more I give, the more the Lord and Mamaand Peter give back to me.

Louise, SGA: I guess the main one for meis that we don�t get to see more of YOU, ourfellow Family. We have a wonderful bunchhere, but sometimes I do get hit with this kindof �itchy feet� feeling, or feel kind of�cramped� because I see the same people andplaces all the time, and feel like some varietywould be nice.

But the truth of the matter is that I lovebeing behind the scenes. It�s my thing, it�swhat I�ve always wanted, and the gifts theLord has given me and even my personalityand physical make-up are suited for it. Sowhenever I do get that �get me out of here�feeling, it doesn�t usually take long for me toremind myself that I accepted to come hereand that I want to be here�and knowing I�min the Lord�s will is worth the sacrifices.

I suppose another biggie is that I oftenwonder if and when I�ll get married. I knoweveryone here and don�t see any possibilitiesamong us, and it�s not like a new guy comesalong every day, needless to say. But I�m verythankful that the Lord helps me not feel toolonely, because I have plenty of friends, fun,sweet companionship and sex, PTL.

Are you able to do anyprovisioning?

James, FGA: For securityreasons we can�t provision, so

we try to shop around for the

best prices, etc. It�s very inspiring how theLord gives us good deals and even manages toraise up contacts or friends for us, people thatreally like us and give us very good prices,even though they don�t know all that muchabout us.

What are some special thingsthat you, as a Home, dotogether?

Staff member, FGA: One of my favoritethings is when we get together and have aunited Loving Jesus night, where we sit aroundand pass the guitar, and sing songs to Jesus.

Rusty, SGA: To name just afew: We go on outings together,have united inspirations, dancenights, united get-outs, specialmeals either on birthdays orspecial occasions, testimony

sharing, performance nights, games, treasurehunts, etc.!

Staff member, SGA: Everyone worksmega-hard, but when we play, we really play.We have pretty regular dance nights, lots offast and slow dancing to cater to everyone�stastes. Something fun we do during technonumbers is create a dance circle where peopletake turns in the middle and everybody elseimitates their impromptu dance steps. It getspretty wild, ha!

Each month the birthday people (if morethan one) plan what meal they want for theirbirthday dinner, and an activity to do, and thatbrings a fun potpourri of laughs, games andgigs.

One of my favorite Home activities is onSaturday. We often have a simple BBQ-typemeal, and then all eat outside (weather andclimate permitting, naturally). It�s fun andrelaxing and we get a chance to fellowshiptogether before our Saturday movie and restday on Sunday.

What type of personalityclashes do you most fre-quently have?

Amy, FGA: I would have tobe honest and say weprobably are very much likea normal home in that area,as it�s not unusual to havepersonality clashes. OurHome is made up of anumber of different person-

alities with different interests, and sometimesthose interests or understandings do clash.People might argue over some things, like ifsomeone gets competitive in sports, they maydispute a point; or someone that has a moredomineering personality might clash withsomeone else of like personality, very similarto things that come up in any interaction

between people.We have some of the typical generational

clashes too, though they�re not too serious.Even though we do our best to try to worktogether, there are certain personalities thatjust have a hard time with each other and needextra grace to see eye-to-eye on things. Inthemselves, these �clashes� are usually notmuch of a problem, simply because they causepeople to have to communicate, apologize,pray together, learn how to love each othermore and try to make things work out. I�d sayfolks do pretty well in this area, but we dohave folks that don�t get along as well withsome as with others; it�s just a natural thingthat happens and we encourage them to workat it.

Louise, SGA: I was just commenting tosomeone not long ago that this is the firstHome I�ve ever lived in where there wasn�tthat �special someone� who I was alwayseither arguing with or offending, or gettingoffended by�you know the story?

Overall things run pretty smoothly amongus; even when we do disagree, things usuallyaren�t made into such an issue. We�ve gonethrough a lot as a team, and have seen eachother go through ups and downs, times ofbattles and difficulty when we needed to fighttogether in prayer for each other; or we�veourselves experienced needing everyone else�ssupport and encouragement. That gives you adeep love for one another, as well as a largemeasure of respect and understanding.

Rebecca, SGA: One thing that has helpedme relate to my dear friends and co-workershere is to remember that we�re in it for thelong haul. It�s not like we�re just passingthrough, and if we can�t get along, we�ll justmove. Everyone who�s here has committed tostaying for as long as the Lord wills�whichcould be a long time! Remembering that helpsme to be desperate with the Lord for myinteractions with others, and gives meincentive to go back and apologize or do thehumble thing, or communicate even when it�sdifficult, knowing that we�re building afoundation which needs to last for a while!Plus, with not much changeover of personnel,I really value each of my dear friends and co-workers and don�t want to hurt them or bedistant from them�and that helps give me theright perspective as well.

When you have dance nights,are there any complications?

Staff member, SGA: As anyone knows,dance nights can cause quite a few trials, bethey loneliness, jealousy, comparing, etc.While our dance nights are upbeat and fun,yes, there are sometimes repercussions�butwith a bit of love and prayer, the Lord helps usget back on our feet again. On the whole Iwould say our dances are a lot of fun. Weusually have quite a few fast dances toaccommodate us young folks� passion for

rhythm, and then some slow ones which aretimes of sweet fellowship and communication.

Yvonna, SGA: If there is any time thatlends itself to complications, it�s dancenights.�Especially when there ends up beingmore women than men on the dance floor! ButI would say that most of the members of ourHome try to be impartial in their dance nightaffection, and get at least a dance or two inwith everybody. And it�s not unusual to seesome women on the side of the room practic-ing their latest steps, and others chatting ordancing together. So everyone is participating.

When you play united sports,do you experience problemswith competitiveness?

Rusty, SGA: To be completely honest, yes,we do get competitive. Well, I should say thatI do. I wouldn�t want to confess someone else�ssins for them!

Staff member, FGA: Oh boy, do I! It�spretty much a constant thing I have to guardagainst, as it was so ingrained in me fromwhen I was younger and quite into sports. Ialways feel bad afterwards,because if I get into being toocompetitive when we play, it canbe a real damper on the game. I�veasked the Lord to help me with it,and we�ve all been working ontrying to do better at it.

Matthew, FGA:Not anymore, I don�tplay them! I hurt myleg, so I can�t forright now. I havealways been competi-

tive in sports, since I was raisedthat way. I would say, though, thatsince coming to this Home, we haveall learned to be much lesscompetitive, which to me shows theLord�s power of love and gifts ofHis Spirit, as many of us wereathletes in our youth. And youngand old play together in harmony.Both Gabe and James, two of ourbest athletes, have been very goodsamples to me and I�m sure toothers along the lines of not lettingcompetitiveness ruin our fun. Ha!

Staff member, SGA: It hasbeen said that people�s true charac-ter comes out in sports�and thatseems true with us. While the atmosphere mayget a bit tense as the game/shot is played, andwe occasionally slip with our comments in ourzest and desire to win, that spirit is nevercarried off court and there isn�t animositybetween the players afterwards. It�s amazinghow much fun you can have without thataggressive, overly competitive spirit in sports.

Do you ever go on vacationsor take time off?

Gabe, FGA: We have adefinite time set aside everyyear when we have a five-dayvacation. People work veryhard in the Home, and havemade tremendous sacrificesto be here, so we really enjoy

our vacations and taking time off.We also try to take Sunday off, although a

number of people do put in a couple hours ofwork anyway. Of course, there are somepeople, mainly the old-timers, who carrycertain responsibilities that need to be done,such as phone messages, transcribing andtyping, taking care of Mama and Peter andtheir food, etc.

Rusty, SGA: We also have a couple daysof rest after Christmas, or after a very bigpush. It�s nice to have some time off so thatyou can get to some of those things that you�renever able to do�you know, make your bed orbrush your hair�things like that! Ha!

Francis, SGA: Usually things are quitebusy, with lots of work to be done and manyprojects to take care of. But as urgent as theprojects may be, Mama and Peter are veryconcerned that we get the rest and breaks thatwe need�and especially time with the Lord, ofcourse (vital!).

men that I have dates with really like saying love words to

Jesus; some are even freer about it at times than I am. It�s

beautiful!

Yvonna, SGA: I think He�s always involved, albeit to

different degrees for different occasions.

Matthew, FGA: I think so, but I can�t be sure. Everyone I

have dates with does.

Rusty, SGA: I know everyone tries to practice it in one

way or another. How could you not when you see the good

results that it has borne in the lives of those around you? But

there isn�t competition to see who does it more than someone

else.

Jenna, SGA: I think everyone pretty much does. Having

shared with both FGA and SGA men in our Home, I�ve noticed

that the FGA men are a bit freer and more vocal in their

Loving Jesus. I think the Enemy fights us young people feeling

completely comfortable with loving Jesus intimately with our

peers. We do it nonetheless, but at least for me, it�s more of a

struggle with those my own age than with FGAs.

and being somewhat of a workaholic, I don�talways take time off like I should. So Mamasuggested I take a couple of days off, and theshepherds worked it out for others to take overfor me during that time. It was such a blessingto spend extra time with the Lord and in theWord, catch up on needed rest and sleep, andenjoy some nice relaxation as well! TTL forour concerned shepherds!

Home meetings—do youhave them?

Gabe, FGA: We don�t have Homemeetings exactly like most field Homes have,as our set-up is quite different from mostHomes. Since our entire Home is able to meetat breakfast, lunch and dinner withoutinterruption, we have daily announcementsand prayer at all three meals, and evendiscussion of various topics as they come up,rather than waiting for a scheduled meetingevery couple of weeks. Although we do haveevening meetings from time to time, most ofour discussion is done over dinner.

Francis, SGA: I�d venture to say thatHome meetings are not most people�sfavorite activity, but they can be quitefun. We try to keep them short and tothe point, but that�s sometimes difficultas some folks are more long-windedthan others! In our Home, just like inany, we have all types�strongcharacters who like to voice theiropinion, and quieter folks who needencouragement to speak up. Everyoneloves to vote on Home matters like ourschedule, etc. (hip hip hurrah for theCharter!), although for some reasonthere are some things that Gabe andAmy never put on the agenda fordiscussion or voting, like �Let�s moveto a beach in Tahiti!� or �Let�sannounce where we live in theGrapevine!� (I wonder why, ha!)

Do you keep the Charterrestrictions on alcohol,sex within designatedage groups, etc.?

Rebecca, SGA: Yes,we do! Although this isthe home of WSL (WSLeadership), thatdoesn�t make us, as aHome, an exception to

the rules. We do plan ahead for our monthlyspecial activities, so that we can have alcoholat these occasions without �going over.�l

(From Enoch:) In counsel with FCF, ourHome has signed a pro bono contract forthe broadcast of Treasure Attics with aCroatian-language TV station in Bosnia.The station is translating and dubbing thedialogue of the programs into Croatian,and is giving us the masters of the trans-lated shows. They are planning to broad-cast the shows during school hours also,and have discussed this with the schooldirector of their town, as they would like touse the show as a teaching tool! So if thisworks out, they will be showing the showsthree times a week.

(From Greek Maggie:) A couple of yearsago while on outreach, I met a very sweetJapanese man. At the time I asked him forhelp, but he told me his situation was verybad and that he couldn’t help us. Butbecause he was so sweet, I sent him a fewExecutive Course mailings and kept callinghim from time to time. During the past threeyears, I’ve talked to him about three timeson the phone, and I sent him three moremailings. He was always very sweet, butwould always explain how difficult hisfinancial situation was. Then the other day,he gave us an appointment.

I was going to follow up on him and hadplanned to ask him if he would be able togive a personal donation like 5,000 or10,000 Baht (US $300), and I had prepareda letter for this purpose.

As soon as I arrived, he brought in thecompany manager and new vice president.He himself is the chairman for SEA, andtravels frequently. He mentioned that hewanted us to meet the management thatstays on base, and right away asked us topresent our work to them, which we did.Both of the men were very sweet and theyseemed to really understand and admireour work. As soon as I finished thepresentation, the man we knew mentionedagain how bad the situation was this year,so they would only be able to help with avery small amount. He said that they wouldbe able to help with 100,000 Baht (US$2,500). As you can imagine I was a bitshocked. They said if we gave them aletter, they would process it right away.

The next day when we went back in, heprepared the check on the spot! It was so

exciting, as again the Lord surprised us. Itall goes to show that it was only Him andHim alone! This was a real boost ofinspiration to us during this time of eco-nomic crisis when everybody is talkingabout gloom and doom.

I’m so happy that the Lord did it in sucha way to show that there was nothing wecould have done. We didn’t have any greatconnection with this man; he’s just some-one we met on outreach, who didn’t getmuch follow-up either. It also shows theLord’s blessings for following the Lord ontaking more Word time daily, as we aretrying to now take 1 ½ hours every morningand be more “religious” with this. Some-times I try and take one day off every weekto have Word. I feel like the Lord is saying,“I’m here, very close and taking care ofyou. So don’t worry, just obey.” Praise theLord for His wonderful supply and miracles!

Summer of road tripsSIBERIA

(From Gabe and Maria:) The Lordshowed us that this summer was to be thesummer of faith trips. During this month wewere able to send out three road trips. TheLord also showed us that the ones whowere going to stay home should act as ifthey were on a faith trip as well. We madea special push to witness and poster asmuch as possible.

The first two road trips were to littletowns north of our city. The Lord faithfullysupplied transportation, places to stay andfood. The third road trip was two-and-a-halfweeks long. Our team of two adults withtheir two kiddos and one live-out wentsouth. We stopped in every little town onthe way and witnessed and postered. TheLord miraculously supplied places for us tostay, as well as food and gasoline! Wewere able to visit some orphanages andlive with the children for a few days.

All together we distributed 43,000posters, 2,000 tracts, personally witnessedto 1,760, and 534 souls got saved! Ofcourse we wouldn’t have been able tomake it without His help and leadingthrough prophecy.

Incredible beyond descriptionINDONESIA

(From Rain and Rejoice, VS team:) OurCTPs these past two months have beenincredible beyond description. Our support-ers and friends are now playing an activepart in fund-raising for us to get rice, oiland other commodities that we’re distribut-ing to the poor. During this period we haveraised nearly $15,000 designated for our“Feed the Poor” program and we havebeen able to supply food and basicnecessities for over 55 orphanages, drugrehabs and other institutions.

One of our close Malaysian/Indianfriends who we’ve ministered to for yearsintroduced us to a South African man whogave 30 tons of rice to this program. Ourfriend has set up a bank account for us toreceive funds for this program and is onthe attack inviting business friends of his to“power lunches,” etc., to gain moresupporters. There are so many people inthe city who want to help. OneSingaporean man our friend introduced usto was responsible for giving another$6,000 to be used to purchase anddistribute rice and commodities for our“Feed the Poor” campaign. PTL!

The Minister of Social Affairs was at arecent ceremony we attended, which wasorganized by a close Christian friend, thehead of the orphanages in Jakarta. At thisfunction, over 80 tons of rice, 15,000 litersof oil and other food for the poor was givenaway. The Minister is very interested in thework we’re doing here. In the local areanear our Home we have been able to feedover 300 needy families, and our localvillage chiefs are so thankful for our help totheir needy people.

Thank the Lord for how He is continuingto lead and guide us to be a blessing atthis extremely needy time when 40% of theover 200 million Indonesians are nowbelow the poverty level. If things continueas is, it’s predicted that it will be 50% belowthe poverty level by the end of the year. It’sa great time of receptivity for the people ofIndonesia, as they are very desperate foranswers.

When praying and hearing from theLord about what to do when this presenteconomic and political crisis began, theLord encouraged us to put the needs of thepeople in the country first and that Hewould take care of us. Since we’ve beenfollowing His leading from both the Wordon the crash and from direct prophecy, allof the prophecies we’ve received havebeen coming to pass and being fulfilled.Please pray for us, that we can be ablessing to all those here that we aremeeting, especially those who are in powerwho have the ability to help this countryand all of its sweet, sheepy people.

(From Francis, Dulci and Alina:) HoldingEnglish camps is our greatest sample andPR to the local community. In June we helda three-week camp, attended by 214children. Our staff of 20 teachers were allFamily members and catacombers. Theman we work with gives us free rein overthe administration of the camp. It was avery fruitful time, with all the kids gettingsaved and their lives influenced forever.l

There was once a prince who lived in ahouse alone. He dreamt often of a beautifulgirl who he loved dearly. She also lovedhim, but she lived in a distant land.

Outside the door of his house was aneastern princess floating in the air with herarms outstretched, very much wanting theprince to love her. The prince knew deepinside that the eastern princess’ love forhim was sincere and pure and that sheloved the prince with all her heart—and sheneeded him. But the prince would not openthe door to the princess because hewanted his dream to be reality; he onlywanted to be with his girl who was far, farway.

Meanwhile, the princess outside startedto cry, for she didn’t understand why theprince would not open the door to her. Asshe cried, her tears fell to the ground andbegan to flood into the house. Now theprince could not go anywhere in his housewithout feeling that everything in it was wet.For a moment he stood, not knowing whichway to turn. If he opened the door, wouldhe be engulfed in the princess’ tears? If hetried to love this sad and lonely princess,would he forget his true dream girl?

After many lonely days in his house, heopened a window to the sad princess andcalled out to her, inviting her first to hisside, and then taking her to his bed. Hertears stopped, and the house dried upalso. He held her close to his bosom andloved her. She was fair and he found thatshe brought him much happiness in hisheart. She also lifted from him an immenseburden which he had never been able to ridhimself of. He held her close all throughthe night, but as he closed his eyes tosleep in her arms, he dreamed again abouthis faraway love, for she was the only onewho truly held the key to his heart.

He questioned which of these two girlswas reality, and what he should do. Howcould he love two girls like this—theeastern princess and the distant girl of hisheart and dreams? It seemed too much tolove two girls in this way.

He climbed out of bed and walked overto the window. As he stared out at thestarlit sky, he whispered, “Oh King of theHeavens, show me the way, for I see it not!I am blinded by the love which I now feelfor this princess. But even more so, I needthe girl of my dreams to open the door and

unlock my heart. Yet I am pulled into theprincess’ arms, and feel she needs me tolove her and hold her warm body next tomine.”

Then he heard a voice speaking to hisheart in the night silence. It touched himdeeply and moved him to his knees.

“Your dream will not always be adream,” said the King of the Heavens.“One day it will become reality. Open yourdoor now to the princess, for your closeddoor did hurt this little one and caused hertears to flow. She did not understand whyyou did not love her and hold her in yourarms as she needed you to. So take hergently by the hand, and she will be sothankful. Open wide your house to her fornow.

“I promise you your dreams shall notend. The girl in your heart, who holds thekey, will wait; she knows her time iscoming. She is sleeping in My arms rightnow, and I hold her safely in My care. Now,go to the princess of the east. She is ahungry traveler, passing through for a timeand a season, then she will move out ofyour house. Trust Me now and feed her, forshe is hungry and cold. Take her in andwarm her with your body. Here, take this inyour hand.”

Then a hand appeared from the sky witha box for the prince. “Itis a magical box inwhich lies the power tosustain you. Open thebox and eat what youfind therein,” said theKing of the Heavens.“You shall understandand be thankful.”

The prince feltassured that if heanswered the call tolove the princess inneed, soon the King ofHeaven would give himhis heart’s desires andit would all work out.He knew that thistraveling princesswould move on, andsoon he would be withthe girl of his dreams.l

WS owns properties?Q: I’ve heard someone comment that WS owns houses

everywhere. Is that true?A: (From Peter:) WS does not own any property or houses, and

to my knowledge has only owned two properties since the Familyhas been in existence.

When Dad and Mama lived in Tenerife, the German owner ofthe house they were renting wanted to sell it since he couldn’tcome back into Spain for some reason. The Lord showed Dad tooffer him an extremely low price for it, making a fleece that if heaccepted this low price, they would buy it. The owner accepted andthe house was purchased though a special gift that was given tothe Folks by a Family member. The house was put in Rachel’sname, and when she left the Family, she sold the house and keptthe funds.

Emanuele, who lived in Tenerife with Dad and Mama, boughttwo apartments, one large one which the Family used while thereand a studio, which he gave to Dad and Mama. We assume hemust have sold the large one after he left the Family, though wedon’t know what became of it. After the Folks left Tenerife, Dad andMama let Family members use and live in the small studio apart-ment for many years until it was eventually sold.

These are the only properties WS has owned over the years.That isn’t to say that there won’t ever be a time when WS wouldown property if the Lord showed us it was necessary for a particu-lar reason (for example, if it was donated to the Family), but untilnow the Lord hasn’t led that way.

TAIWAN

(From Jeff:) We’ve held a YA meeting, a senior teenmeeting and are in the middle of holding a junior teen meet-ing. We also had a city fellowship in two of the major cities,and we’ll be having one more fellowship in the last major city.We’ve been able to meet most of the field, except for thoseJETT age and down, and have gotten a pretty good idea of thedifferent needs of the work here.

PAKISTAN

(From the Pakistan Family:) Delegates representing thethree Homes in our area met for two days to discuss areagoals, projects, problems, etc. It was very unifying and thedelegates returned home with various points to be voted on bytheir respective Homes. We are looking forward to do so againin four months’ time.

The OC/JETTs (ages 9-13) from the three Homes inPakistan gathered in the Islamabad Home for a week’sholiday! A total of about 25 people went up to a mountainresort (a four-hour drive from the city) for five enjoyable days.We partook of such activities as: camping, hiking, chair lifts,campfires, and learned (from our professional guide) differentsurvival skills! Back at home, fun activities were planned forall. It was a real miracle how the Lord supplied the funds for usto pull this off! It was really worth it.

JAPAN

(From Stephen, VS:) We just held the 15-day JapaneseVocational Training Seminar which Margie mentioned [inGrapevine #46, under “What’s Up?”]. The purpose of thisseminar was to give our second generation Japanese somebasic training in different specialized ministries which requireJapanese language ability, as well as to teach them a fullerknowledge of Japanese customs, geography, Christian historyhere, etc. Almost all the classes and devotions were done inJapanese and we even watched some Japanese movies!

Just before the seminar, we heard from the WS FED thatwe got approval to be a special CVC course (called PracticalBusiness and Communications in Japan). Thirty-one studentsstudied hard till the last day, attending over 40 classes, andtaking over 10 tests!—And all passed the course and receiveda CVC certificate! We finished the seminar with a graduationceremony, followed by a fun dance night.l

(From a CRO:) I’m saddenedto see how little good qualitypersonal time people are getting,especially the young people. I justhad personal time with someonewho said it had been two yearssince they’d last had personaltime. Others say that personaltime with their shepherds usuallyonly happens when they dosomething wrong or need to becorrected.

Even with the VSs here in thesame city, I was surprised that theyoung people were carryingheavy burdens and were in needof pouring out their hearts, but ithadn’t happened. I know somepeople don’t feel close to theirimmediate shepherds and onlywant personal time with CROs orVSs, which isn’t always going tobe possible. I think it would solvea lot of problems if there wasmore communication andconcerned loving shepherdingtaking place, but with our busyHomes this seems to be one areathat gets neglected.
