NAMmlAN game farmers yesterday hotly debated 'guideline' prices for the game they market, after they found themselves with no markets last year because they were not prepared to accept prices offered by outside buyers.

Discussions centered around the price for springbok which is said to be the most important game species in terms of mass cullingsbould new markets open up. The number of springbok available for sale are estimated at around35 000.

HesaidNamibian~ ducers found themselves in a 'Catch 22' situation in tenns of marketing. They wanted about R4,50 a kilo for springbok but the outside market, like South Africa, is only ready to pay R2.80 a kilo.

Sympathy with TCL

SWAPO yesterday expressed solidarity with both Tsumeb Corporation Limited and its employees over the acddent earlier this week which caused irrepara. ble damage at the copper mine.

A statement issued by the party'S'Labour Secretary, Jeremia Nambinga, said it was "sad and regrettable" that the accident had taken place at a time when uoemployment is increasing.

Nambinga said it would be unfortunate if the accident forced TCL to close down, forcing its workers to join the ranks of the unemployment.

He expressed the hope that. in spite of the difficult i~s, TCL would rlNl a way 10 get the mine running again.

THREE former CDM workers yesterday appeared in the Windhoek High Court on a charge of diamond theft or alternative ly the illegal pos~ession qf diamonds.

It is alleged that Paulus Hangula, 25, Tuhafeni Nande Muatunga, 27, andTitus Kunamuene, 23, were found with 180 rough diamonds, valued at R197 465 , at Oranjemund on July I.

Kunamuene also faces a charge of escaping from custody as he allegedly escaped from a policeman before re was locked up.

Pterus Vryman, a security officer at CDM, yesterday told tre coun that Hangula approached him and asked him to take the diamonds out of the mining area.

V ryman discussed his meeting with Hangul ahis superiors and was told to continue so that a trap could beset for Hangula.

On July 1la'it year, Hangula allegedly handed over a parcel , sealed with masking tape, to Vryman.

Vryman took the parcel out. Whcn

Hangula had to receivc the parcel, he seemed unwilling and it was arranged that the package should be received by Muatunga. In turn, Muatunga arranged for Kunamuene 10 receive the parcel.

Kunamuene was arrested after receiving the parcel.

Before he was detained, he absconded but was re-arrested on the same day.

Hangula and Muatunga were also arrested on the same day.

lbe parcel was opened and contained 180 rough diamonds with a mass of 194,96 carals and were valued at RI97 465 .

All three accused pleaded nOI gu illy and challenged the State 10 prove their guilt.

1be case is continuing this morning with Vryman under heavy cross-examination from the defence counsels. He was aisoin the wilness stand all of yesterday .

As. no league games are scheduled in the prestigicus NFA Premier League and the highlyanticipated Windhoek Lager Easter Tournament soccer final between Black Africa and Namsea Orlando Pira(eS has been switched to Sunday, Katutura fans can gear up for a Saturday afternoon full of exciting footba1l.

Police outfit, Auto Centre Nampol host Keelmanshoop giants Real Fighters in the opening match of a double-header with an interesting tie between African Blizzards and Doleriet Try Again also on the cards at 16hOO.

Nampol are generally tipped as ore of Ire learnS to clinch the natiooal first division this season. Looking back at their earlier matches, they ctnain1y possess enough ammunition to beal their Keennanshoop opponents at 14hOO.
