New TradeshowBooth The 2015 AHR Expo shattered it’s all timeattendance record. With over 62,000 attendees from140 countries, this was the perfect scenerio for Hartand Cooley to show our new booth. We look forwardto attending the 2016 AHR Expo in Orlando.
Product Spotlight: More onPolyflue Polyflue is the only polypropylene venting system thatis listed by UL, Inc, to the complete ULC S636 teststandard at 0” clearance to combustibles at 230°F /110°C maximum flue gas temperature. It is also theonly polypropylene venting system that allows therequired locking bands to be installed during or afterthe installation of the vent system, providing ultimateinstallation flexibility. Polyflue is offered in sizes 2” (60mm), 3” (80mm), and 4”(100mm) white single wall rigid and flexible re‐linerpipe. wall exterior applications. It has a 10 year limited warranty. Polypropylene has been a credible flueventing material for many years on condensing gas fired equipment. Polyflue™, a unique polypropylene flue gas venting system for Category II and IV gas fired heatingappliances. It has a much higher safety factor than PVC / CPVC plastic pipe, used on these sameheating appliances, and can install quicker and cleaner than PVC / CPVC usually does. Polyflue canbe sourced through a wide array of HVAC or plumbing wholesale distribution channels.
To the left are two jobs where the unique advantages ofPolyflue flexible liner helped the installer finish the jobquicker, whereas PVC would have been more challenging toinstall. The right picture is a masonry relining job with areplacement high efficiency boiler that would have beenimpossible to run in PVC rigid flue vent because of the offsetsin the masonry chimney. The left half of the picture wasanother replacement high efficiency boiler that utilized theflexible liner for the entire combustion air intake run andalso as a short flue vent connector to get around all of thewater piping instead of having to use many rigid elbows.

Hart & Cooley in the Community As part of Hart and Cooley’s two year commitment to Habitat for Humanity, seven employeesvolunteered their time and participated in the Veteran’s build. The Veteran’s build renovates andbuilds homes to provide affordable housing solutions for military, veterans, and their families. The team spent the day painting bedrooms, putting up insulation in the basement, laying the woodfloors and hanging siding. They had a great day and accomplished a lot. The volunteers left havinglearned a little more about Habitat for Humanity and proud to take part in the program.

Hart and Cooley was a proud sponsor ofthe 2015 New American Home, one of theNational Association of Home BuildersLeading Suppliers Councils mostsuccessful programs. Since 1984 the New American Home hasbeen built to showcase the latest andgreatest in the home building industryand serves as a collection of ideas for theindustry to take away and integrate intohomes across the country; itdemonstrates builders “best practices”that can be replicated in any house atany price range. The 2015 New American Home was
unveiled at the International Builders’ Show in Vegas this January. The home was the highlight ofthe show and was open for tours on a first come, first serve basis. The Vegas home showcased thethree following Hart and Cooley products viewed in their virtual tour.

U.S. Housing Forcast Over the past year we have been able to seesteady growth in the construction industry. Everymonth in 2014 added jobs, which is somethingunseen to the industry since 2005. In Januaryalone, 39,000 construction jobs have been addedwhich is the highest point in the last five years.Not only are more jobs being added, butconstruction revenue saw an 8.1% increasethroughout 2014. Additionally, we were able tosee an increase in building permits last year of4.2%. Obviously this is great news for ourindustry, and several publications are reportingthat we should expect to see continued growthin this market throughout 2015. As you can seefrom the chart below, since the fallout in 2009,we have been enjoying steady and consistentgrowth in single and multifamily home building.Dodge Data & Analytics has reported a 9 percentgrowth in construction in January. Last months results showed an 18% increase in unadjusted totalconstruction starts vs. January 2014.

Lakeshore Lifeworks ServeProject
Lakeshore LifeWorks is located in Holland, Michigan and is a ministrydevoted to serving aging out foster youth and kids living on thestreets in West Michigan. Our own Keith page donated Polyflue andaccessories, labor and financial assistance to help provide and installa new energy efficient hot water boiler for Lakeshore LifeWorks. A number of apartments were heated by a hot water boiler whichhad exceeded its life and was in need of replacement. The newboiler was installed to operate in conjunction with the existing zonevalve system and the new boiler install required a new pipingconfiguration for connection into the existing piping system withinthe mechanical closet, new valves, new system circulation pump,new air separator and expansion tank. The result of this projectcreated a great deal of relief. The organization has expressed greatgratitude for the efforts of all who were involved and will continuein the following months as they experience their lower utility bills
