General Description: Pizza and Palavers is social event held once a semester after initiation and is intended to get new and old members together to meet and converse with one another. II. Purpose & Relationship to Objectives of TBP: Pizza and Palavers is an event held every semester that attempts to bring together members of Tau Beta Pi that have been involved with the organization for some time as well as students who are newly elected. This event is a great way for old members to impart new members with knowledge regarding their history in the engineering major as well as the new members’ future in Tau Beta Pi. III. Organization & Administration: (in conjunction with another group?) ___ Yes X No IV. Cost & Personnel Requirements: The only cost associated with this event is buying pizzas for the event. Typically anywhere between $30 and $50 is spent depending on how many students RSVP for the event and lasts from 1-2 hours. V. Special Problems: Generally this is a laid back and fun event where students converse and eat pizza for an hour. No real problems ever arise with the event. We would like to see this event have more participation in the future. VI. Overall Evaluation/Results (Be Specific): This semester, pizza and palavers was held later than usual and just before finals and as a result attendance for the event was lower than expected. Despite the low number of attendees, the event was successful for the ones that showed up and I personally met three new members of the organization and was able to tell them about my experience in engineering and what they can expect. VII. Index of Exhibits: Not applicable.

Organizing: 60 Participating: 5 DESCRIPTION: I. General Description: Our team was able to obtain 18 corporate sponsors and one UW-Madison Tau Beta Pi Alumni sponsor for the run. One sponsor donated a variety of smoothies, while another donated bagels and other pastries for the runners on race day. Many of our sponsors donated prizes to be awarded to the runners. We received a total of 16 prizes, which we gave to top finishers for male and female in the 5K and 10K races. The most enjoyable part about our Pi Mile Run this year was that it occurred on Pi Day (3/14/15). To be festive with the holiday, each of the runners got a piece of pie when they finished the race. Pi Mile Run Coordinators, runners, and volunteers consumed a total of 45 pies! In the end, the run this year was a huge success and improved significantly compared to the previous year. We had over 250 participants and raised $5125 for Occupaws Guide Dog Association. II. Purpose & Relationship to Objectives of TBP: The Pi Mile Run that we hosted this year definitely fulfills Tau Beta Pi’s objectives. The purpose of the run was to bring the community together for a good cause. The all of the benefits of the run was donated to a non-profit, Occupaws Guide Dog Association. Many of our members participated in this through volunteering or running. III. Organization & Administration: (in conjunction with another group?) X Yes ___ No All proceeds for the run were donated to Occupaws Guide Dog Association (http://occupaws.org). IV. Cost & Personnel Requirements: Early registration: $10 for students and $15 for non-students (optional extra $5 for a t-shirt). Late/day of registration: $15 for students and $20 for non-students.

V. Special Problems: No big problems occurred on race day. One problem that came across was that we had too many day of registrations – roughly 90 (which was actually good to have more participation). We barely had enough bibs for the runners. Next time we should make sure we have more spares. VI. Overall Evaluation/Results (Be Specific): The run was the best in history (since any of the Pi Mile Run Coordinators have been in the club). A total of 250 people ran the race, roughly 40 volunteers, 18 corporate sponsors, over 16 prizes, and bagels and smoothies were provided during the race. VII. Index of Exhibits: Not applicable.

General Description: Engineering Expo is a biannual event that is hosted by the UW-Madison College of Engineering (http://engineeringexpo.wisc.edu). It draws about 10,000 visitors, mostly K-12 grade children. Student organizations are encouraged to participate. Our chapter planned and executed an exhibit on non-Newtonian fluids. Our booth had multiple tubs of Oobleck (cornstarch + water) set up on two tables. Our volunteers engaged the children in discussions about the fluid’s viscosity. II. Purpose & Relationship to Objectives of TBP: This activity served multiple purposes. First, it gave our members an opportunity to volunteer. Second, it was an opportunity for outreach. Third, we were able to promote our student organization’s visibility on the engineering campus. III. Organization & Administration: (in conjunction with another group?) ___ Yes X No This activity was entirely planned and staffed by Tau Bates. IV. Cost & Personnel Requirements: We had an overall budget of $200. Hodgson Mill donated a large quantity of cornstarch, which greatly reduced our cost. Our final expenditures totaled $73.03. V. Special Problems: We had originally wanted to set up a large pool of oobleck to allow visitors to run over, but found the logistics too complicated. VI. Overall Evaluation/Results (Be Specific): Our exhibit was well received. We entered an exhibit competition to be judged in the student organization category and won an honorable mention along with a monetary prize. VII. Index of Exhibits: Images of our booth setup, visitors enjoying the booth, and our poster, list of attendees.
