New Possibilities Trinity Lutheran Church has a lower level that for the most part has not been used on a regular basis for many years. The Trinity Council feels, and I agree, that it is not honoring the people who built Trinity with hard work and faithful stewardship. Those ancestors of the tribe of faith built this church to be used for ministry to and with the people of Gresham and the surrounding area. It is in the spirit of utilizing space wisely that the church council, led by the Holy Spirit, has been having conversations with a Latino Episcopal congregation regarding partnering with us as we live out our charter. After many months of conversation with their leadership, touring the building and getting acquainted, we will be inviting them to join with us in building the dominion of God. The congregation is Holy Cross/Santa Cruz Episcopal Church, led by Father Roberto Maldanado. While Father Roberto is Episcopal, he has also served as pastor to Lutheran congregations in the past. He is well versed in how Lutherans do things. Holy Cross/Santa Cruz will hold a bilingual worship service in the sanctuary after Trinity Worship on Sundays. They have also requested space, including office space, use of the downstairs kitchen, the basement parish hall and a room for a chapel in the lower level. Father Roberto and his leadership and the council are finalizing a covenant which includes not only space but also some shared time together. Both councils want to have a few joint service during the year and time for meals and fellowship. Trinity in the past rented to a Latino church, however, they were charismatic and the theological differences made it difficult to come together. Holy Cross/Santa Cruz is an authorized Episcopal Congregation of the Western Oregon Diocese. Neither the Trinity Council nor Holy/Cruz want just a ‘renter’ relationship. Members of either congregation are invited to worship with either congregation respectively. They want to do ministry with us in Gresham. While they will donate an offering every month, to cover costs, they also have agreed to help us with up keep on our building. As I said earlier, all of this conversation is rooted deeply in prayer and discernment about our future work here in Gresham. We need your prayers as we take another step towards the future where God is waiting for us. Pastor Glenn

October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month, and Trinity is once again inviting you to attend our "Worship In Pink" activities the weekend of October 26th and 27th. Saturday, October 26th, from 11:00am to 1:30pm, a free luncheon (donations accepted) with guest presenter, Sue Best, MSW, Licensed Clinical Social Worker, Deacon in the Lutheran Church and Breast Cancer Survivor. Her topic will be Self-Care, Spirituality, and Survivorship". Reservations for lunch are required. Sign up in the office hallway or call the church office, 503-665-3197, or email the [email protected] and leave your name, phone number, and if you are a breast cancer survivor (so we may honor you) or if you need child care.
There will be additional activities, surprises, and lots of educational materials. We encourage you to wear something pink if you can. Bring your daughters and granddaughters, husbands and sons, and invite other family and friends or breast cancer survivors. All are welcome! We’ll need to know by October 23rd. The weekend worship services will combine both Reformation and Worship In Pink. We will honor survivors of all types of cancer, and remember those who have passed from our midst due to this disease. The weekend worship services are Saturday 5:00 pm and Sunday 9:30 am. You are welcome to wear RED for Reformation, or Pink for Breast Cancer, or both. The "Tree of Life" to remember the names of our loved ones who have passed away from cancer of any type is up against the annex wall. We saved the names of those we remembered from last year. If you have additional names, write it on a pink leaf and place in the basket. They will be added to the tree each Sunday after the weekend services. Health Ministries Committee: Katie Givens; Marlene Gleason; Linde Eidenberg; Cindy Mastrandrea; Phyllis Siebken; Marcia Rice; Jan Wierima

Second Annual Wine Raffle – with a twist!! The Stewardship Committee has begun selling tickets for our 2nd Annual Wine Raffle. Tickets are again $20 each. 1st place is 18 bottles of wine; then 6 bottles each additional winner until the bottles run out. But, wait, there’s more! In addition to the wine raffle, a silent auction will be held online for a variety of gift baskets. Greg Hamilton has generously agreed to provide an “artsy” basket made up of some of his very own glass art! There will also be gift baskets of tea and coffee. These could be great gifts for those who love coffee or tea! This online auction is online now and will go until November 2 at 11 pm. To participate, go to our website (tlcgresham.com) and click the link to the auction website. Also, make sure to let your friends and family know about this fun way to support the church you love! A couple of additional baskets will be raffled on the day of the wine raffle; tickets for this raffle will be sold the day of. So mark your calendar for November 3, following worship, for the raffle drawings and the announcement of the winners of the silent auction items. ALL PROCEEDS will go towards the Roof/Kitchen Fund. Please help us make this fundraising event a success! Thank YOU!
There is no mini-clinic this weekend as this Ministry is going through some revisions and changes. More information will
be coming soon. Thanks, Linde Eidenberg
The Prayer Shawl Committee has many prayer shawls knitted or crocheted, and ready to be given to anyone needing extra prayers during times of health concerns or celebrations. They are in the Fellowship Hall for the next few weeks, and you are welcome to take and to give away. Here is additional information about the Prayer Shawl Ministry:
Prayer Shawls are never sold, only given away. They have been prayed over and blessed by the Prayer Shawl Committee. Each shawl has a small cross attached to one corner. This was suggested and funded by Marcia Trus-
well. Prayer Shawls may be given to anyone - family, neighbors, friends. We can mail one if you wish. Taka a Shawl and wrap it in the tissue paper, place in bag, and tie with ribbon and prayer. We would like the name of the recipient, but not necessary. You may write it on a caregram and give to
the office or committee member. Knitters and crocheters are Jan Burmeister, Tami Burton, Betty Caccamo, Monika Deitchman, Joy
Johnson and friend, Audi, Linda Miller, Phyllis Siebken, Linde Eidenberg. We usually meet the 2nd Thursday of each month at 7:00 pm in the Fellowship Hall.

A time for conversation…. Trinity Family,
I want to thank you all for welcoming Glenn and me, to the Trinity family. We have been over whelmed by your kindness. However, we feel it is time to deepen that relationship.
We would like to invite you to join us after church on November 10, 2019 so that we can have the opportunity to find out which direction you want to be headed in. This will give you the opportunity to reconnect with each other and get all of us to look at what are the next steps for Trinity.
Please come with your ideas for the future, sharing what’s going on now and your stories of the past. Lunch will be provided.
If you have any questions you are welcome to contact me via my cell or email me at [email protected]. Blessings, Greg Hamilton

You are invited to The Living Table! We are a community that meets every Wednesday to share a meal, join in prayer, and participate in activities that enrich
our lives. The evening is a contemporary expression of worship, for
everyone to participate in as they choose. When we gather at the table, it can be for whatever you need: communing, dining,
conversing, or resting your head. We empower our community to share ideas so we can
collaborate in the process of trying and experimenting. Even in our failures, we know the process will enrich our lives.
We invite you to learn more about this community by joining us on Wednesday evenings at 6 pm.
