OUTDOOR EDUCATION

New Plymouth Boys’ High School is located in the region of Taranaki and the Taranaki region has a range of

Outdoor Education activities within a short distance of the school. It is one of the few regions in the world where

you can be in a snow environment on a mountain and in the sea surf on the same day.

Outdoor Activities and Outdoor Education is very popular within the school.

SENIOR SCHOOL

Senior School Level 1-2 (15-18 Years):The school has two teachers and a range of outside instructors and run a half year course at Year 11 and a full year course at Year 12. This operates like any other class and students have five classes in six days of outdoor education. The course does require a lot of time out of school, either before or after school and sometimes over night. Like any other subject students are tested and marked on their ability to complete tasks.

Due to safety requirements of the ratio of staff to students, places in the school’s Outdoor Education courses are limited. Prospective students need to indicate their interest as soon as possible.
