NEVAMAR Armored Protection™ SurfaceAll Textured Finish™ items are produced with exclu-sive Armored Protection™ Surface (ARP Surface®).These laminates have all the properties of conven-tional laminates and they also have superior abrasionand scuff resistance due to a very thin deposit ofmicroscopic particles of aluminum oxide on theconventional melamine layer. Armored Protection™

Surface laminates have significantly better wearvalue than the NEMA standard for laminates. Theyalso offer superior resistance to scuffing and abra-sion and resist gloss change during use. Therefore,Armored Protection™ Surface laminates tend to retaina “brand new” appearance during most of their

Installation methods:n Nevamar: high pressure lami-nate should be bonded to a core material such aslaminate grade plywood, particleboard, MDF or metalusing adhesives and techniques as recommended byreliable adhesive manufacturers to the requirementsof ANSI/NEMA Publication LD3-2005.Care should be taken to assure that a moistureimbalance does not existt betweent Nevamar laminateand the substrate prior to fabrication. Inside cornersof cutouts have 3.2 mm (1/8”) minimum radius edgesfiled smooth to prevent stress cracking.

Forming Radii:g Using: suitable equipment, Nevamarlaminates may be hot formed* in stocked gradesto the following minimum outside radius: VerticalForming (VGP) 6.5 mm (1/4”), Horizontal Forming (HGP)9.5 mm (3/8”).*Following normal conditions used for postforming, i.e.163°C – 177°C (325°F– 350°F ).

Maintenance: Surfaces: of Nevamar laminate maybe cleaned with a damp cloth and ordinary soap orhousehold ammoniated liquid detergent. Abrasivecleaners should not be used. Stubborn stains mayrequire use of organic solvents such as alcohol, ace-tone, ketone (MEK), lacquer thinner or paint solvent.(NOTE: Although these flammable solvents will notharm Nevamar, they will attack the contact adhesiveat the glue line around the edges.) Complete careinstructions available upon request.

NEVAMAR XTRA-Wear™ SurfaceNevamar XTRA-Wear Surface is produced for usewhere additional wear resistance, due to scuffing andabrasion, is required. It meetst the NEMA requirementsfor a high-wear type laminate with as much as sixtimes the wear value of conventionalf laminate.Suitable applications for Nevamar XTRA-WearSurface include commercial and institutional installa-tions, such as fast food restaurants, cafeterias,convenience stores and wherever abrasive wearis a major consideration. NEVAMAR Fire Retardant LaminatesClassification of reaction to fire performance inaccordance with EN 13501-1:2007+A1:2009 asB-s1, d0 and as Class 1 when tested in accordancewith BS 476: Part 7: 1997.

UL-listed Nevamar Fire Retardant Laminate is avail-able in 1.2 mm (.048”) Horizontal Grade (HGF) and .8mm (.032”) Vertical Grade (VGF). Bonded withprescribed procedures to fire retardant particleboardand backed with Nevamar FR backing, it producesa Class I fire retardant panel. When bonded to fireretardant particleboard or inorganic reinforced fireretardant cement board using Cascophen G1149-Aand G1131-B hardener, Wonderbond WB 1116/WB-M-316L or Wonderbond WB-104A/WB-M-304L(BORDEN Chemical, Inc.) Nevamar Fire RetardantLaminates obtained the following classification inUL-723 or ASTM E84:

Although the values shown meet requirements ofmajor regional and metropolitan building codes forClass I interior finish, applicable codes should beconsulted before specifying Nevamar Fire RetardantLaminate to be sure these values comply. MelCor II® Colour-Through LaminateColour-through core construction; eliminates the“dark line” of standard laminates. MelCor II is intend-ed for use in applications where the edge of laminatescontributes to the aesthetics of the final product. Thepatented manufacturing process provides a secondgeneration colour-through laminate that is moreflexible and much less likely to ship than other colour-through laminates. MelCor II colours and their corre-sponding colours in standard Nevamar are not exactmatches. Sample evaluation is recommended. Typicaluses include high-end furniture and casework. Idealfor high-wear applications since gouges and cuts willnot steadily show.

ThickLam – Thick Phenolic Core LaminateAvailable in thickness up to 25.4 mm (1”). Designedfor applications where the decorative surface mustcontribute to the structural stability of the finishedassembly. Available in the following configurations:decorative both sides; decorative one side, glueableone side; glueable one side; glueable both sides.Available with black or brown edge. Typical usesinclude toilet and dressing room privacy partitions,tabletops, doors, work stations, wall panels anddesktops.
