• 61% of 13-17 have a personal profile (MySpace, Friedster, Xanga)

• 50% have posted their pictures

• Ages 16-17 use it for social interaction and networking and meeting friends (especially girls)

• 71% received email messages from someone they don’t know

• 45% were asked for personal information from someone they don’t know

• 30% considered meeting someone they don’t know in person

• 14% actually did meet someone they didn’t know

• 20% (teens) felt the Internet is safe to share personal information on a blog or networking site

• 37% (13-17) said they are not concerned about someone using information they posted online in ways they don’t want

• 33% (13-17) say their parents know little or nothing of what they do on the Internet

• 48% (16-17) said their parents know little or nothing

• 22% said their parents have never talked about Internet safety with them
