HYMN OF ADORATION “Rejoice, Ye Pure of Heart” No. 145, Blue Hymnal
PRAYER OF THE DAY Liturgist-Barb Landis
God of majesty and might, you have blessed us with revelations of your glory. Give us the gift
of faith, that we may hear your voice for ourselves and see Jesus Christ revealed to us that we
may stand on our own without fear. Amen.
RESPONSIVE READING (Liturgist)
Leader: God’s Spirit dwells in us,
People: for we are God’s temple.
Leader: We belong to Christ,
People: and Christ belongs to God. Praise the Lord!
(You may be seated)
If you are visiting with us, we welcome you. We hope you would participate with us
in worship, but please do not feel compelled to take part in any aspect of worship which may
make you uncomfortable. Much of our worship is call and response. The bold portions in the
bulletin are where the congregation responds to the call of the speaker.
Loving God;
Building Disciples;
Serving Christ
SONGS OF PRAISE “Did You Hear the Mountains Tremble?
Did you feel the mountains tremble?
Did you hear the oceans roar?
When the people rose to sing of
Jesus Christ, the risen one
Did you feel the people tremble?
Did you hear the singers roar?
When the lost began to sing of
Jesus Christ, the saving one
And we can see that God, You're moving
A mighty river through the nations
And young and old will turn to Jesus
Fling wide Your heavenly gates
Prepare the way of the risen Lord
Open up the doors and let the music play
Let the streets resound with singing
Songs that bring Your hope
Songs that bring Your joy
Dancers who dance upon injustice
Did you feel the darkness tremble
When all the saints join in one song
And all the streams flow as one river
To wash away our brokenness (Chorus)
“All the Days of My Life”
The Lord is my Shepherd I shall not want
He makes me lie down in green pastures
He leads me beside still waters
He restores my soul
CALL TO CONFESSION
Trusting in God’s steadfast love, let us confess our sin.
PRAYER OF CONFESSION
Glorious God, you are all wisdom and a lamp to our feet, yet we fail to listen to you and
neglect to follow your guidance. Forgive us, heal us, and lead us on, that we may walk in
your ways and be happy in your refuge; in Jesus our Christ we pray. Amen.
SILENT PRAYER OF CONFESSION (Please take a few moments of prayer)
DECLARATION OF FORGIVENESS
The good news of our faith is this: if we call upon God we will be answered and forgiven. That
promise gives us peace and joy; let us share that peace and joy with one another.
(Please stand if you are able)
CHILDREN’S SERMON
(We invite all children through 5th grade to come up to the front of the Sanctuary for a special message for
them. They will then be dismissed to their Sunday School teacher, or if you prefer they may return to their
seats with you. Where do I pick up my child after Sunday School? The teachers will bring them up to the Au-
ditorium at 10:15 am and have them sit at the children’s tables. Please look for them to come in and make sure
that your child knows where you are so that they don’t panic when they can’t find you).
He has spread a banquet before me
In the sight of my enemies
While my head is anointed with oil
And the cup of my life overflows
Even though I walk through the darkest valley
I fear no evil for you are with me
Your rod and staff they comfort me
All the days of my life
Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me
All the days of my life
I shall live in the presence of you
My whole life long
INVITATION TO THE OFFERING (Pastor Sameh Shaker)
Our God has revealed to us a law and a love that leads us into becoming God’s own daugh-
ters and sons. Therefore, let us gratefully give from that which has first been given to us, our
lives, our talents, and our possessions.
(Please take a moment to sign the Friendship Pad in the pew racks.
If you are our guest, please don’t feel obligated to participate.
We would be honored if today's service could be our gift to you.)
OFFERTORY Keith Rounds

As it was in the beginning, is now, and ever shall be, world without end. Amen.

LORD’S PRAYER
Our Father who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come, thy will be
done, on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread; and forgive us our
debts, as we forgive our debtors; and lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from
evil. For thine is the kingdom and the power and the glory, forever. Amen.
(Please stand if you are able)
DOXOLOGY “Praise God, from Whom All Blessings Flow”
Praise God, from whom all blessings flow; Praise Him, all creatures here below;
Praise Him above, ye heavenly host; Praise Father, Son, and Holy Ghost. Amen.
PRAYER OF DEDICATION (Liturgist)

AFFIRMATION OF FAITH (in unison): Apostles’ Creed
I believe in God, the Father Almighty, creator of heaven and earth. I believe in Jesus
Christ, his only Son, our Lord, who was conceived by the Holy Spirit, born of the Virgin
Mary, suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, died, and was buried; he descended to
the dead. On the third day he rose again; he ascended into heaven, is seated at the right
hand of the Father, and will come again to judge the living and the dead. I believe in the
Holy Spirit, the holy catholic church, the communion of saints, the forgiveness of sins,
the resurrection of the body, and the life everlasting. Amen.

SCRIPTURE READING Matthew 17:1-9
17 Six days later, Jesus took with him Peter and James and his brother John and led them up a
high mountain, by themselves. 2 And he was transfigured before them, and his face shone like
the sun, and his clothes became dazzling white. 3 Suddenly there appeared to them Moses and
Elijah, talking with him. 4 Then Peter said to Jesus, “Lord, it is good for us to be here; if you
wish, I will make three dwellings here, one for you, one for Moses, and one for Elijah.” 5 While
he was still speaking, suddenly a bright cloud overshadowed them, and from the cloud a
voice said, “This is my Son, the Beloved; with him I am well pleased; listen to him!” 6 When
the disciples heard this, they fell to the ground and were overcome by fear. 7 But Jesus came
and touched them, saying, “Get up and do not be afraid.” 8 And when they looked up, they
saw no one except Jesus himself alone. 9 As they were coming down the mountain, Jesus or-
dered them, “Tell no one about the vision until after the Son of Man has been raised from the
dead.”
Leader: The Word of the Lord

Ash Wednesday Taize Worship Service
February 26th at 7 p.m. in the Sanctuary
Ash Wednesday emphasizes a dual encounter: we confront our own mortality and con-
fess our sin before God within the community of faith. The form and content of the ser-
vice focus on the dual themes of sin and death in the light of God's redeeming love in
Jesus Christ.
Taizé is a service of music, of singing together, designed to help meditation and prayer.
THE PULPIT FLOWERS
Are given in loving memory of Henry K. Strawn Sr. and Dorothy Strawn Petry as well as
Henry K. Strawn Jr. by Nick and Susan Doerfler; and are dedicated to the glory of God
for his loving mercy and grace; and, in gratitude for our church family by Susan Zimmer-
man. Deacon Isabel McLauchlan & Linda Mesh will be delivering the flowers. Each week
the flowers can be a bright moment for someone needing prayers or praise. If you know
of someone please let the assigned deacons delivering flowers know after the service.
Pulpit flowers are needed for March 22 and March 29. If you are interested in donating
pulpit flowers please contact Dorothy Smith at 215-343-1142.
NO WEDNESDAY MORNING BIBLE STUDY ON FEBRUARY 26
Our pastors lead a weekly bible study at 10:00 A.M. in the auditorium. Come and go in
depth into that week's scripture to learn not only what the text is about, but how it is rele-
vant in your life. It is a rich time of learning for all, as hearts and minds are opened to new
vistas. Attending is a good way to get better acquainted with our pastors and members of
our congregation. Newcomers are always welcome! Due to Ash Wednesday we will not
have bible study this Wednesday. Bible Study will resume on March 4th.
