NEGOTIATION SKILLS TRAINING FOR SALES, EXECUTIVES AND MANAGERS

Over the course of two days, participants will be immersed in basic and advanced negotiation skills based on the Method of Principled Negotiation. The value is not only in learning the conceptual frameworks, but more so in the ability to apply those in real-time within a fully-participative, safe and fun learning environment. Day One: Introduction to Principled Negotiation

•  Understand the theoretical frameworks underpinning the concept of win-win or Principled Negotiation through case studies, exercises and simulations from the Harvard Business School and Harvard Law School.

•  Identify and apply the Seven Elements of a good outcome.

•  Understand what you communicate through Active Listening. Most adults listen at about 25% efficiency.

Day Two: Advanced Negotiation Skills

•  Understand the difference between values and interests, and how these affect negotiation.

•  Leverage tone and body language to change the way content is received and understood.

•  Prepare for complex multi-party negotiations using analytical tools drawn from HBS and put these through the test in a seven-party negotiation.

BREVITI workshops provide a unique opportunity to try new things, test a hypothesis or two, and receive immediate feedback. You will be surprised at the breadth and creativity of outcomes!

KEY CONCEPTS & EXERCISES Why Principled Negotiation? •  Create more value and strengthen

your negotiation position instead of simply accepting what’s on offer.

•  Recognize and understand your own negotiation styles and tactics as a negotiator.

•  Map out the negotiation process and manage the inherent tensions.

•  Deal with different levels of trust.

Sample HLS Exercises •  Learn to define what constitutes a “good outcome” in a

negotiation over a vital commodity, in this simulation of trading oil futures.

•  Move from a limited positional point of view to an interest- based outcome in which both parties can benefit in negotiating an employment contract.

•  Diplomatically navigate a high-value negotiation of the sale of industry equipment with a high-powered government official.

•  Manage the interests of various corporate, federal and municipal stakeholders with the demands of an emotionally-charged community at large in a complex, multicultural negotiation.

What are the Seven Elements of a Good Outcome? Integrate BATNA, ZOPA and Pareto Optimality to strengthen your position.
