Australians are outraged over anew program being taught inschools. The program has beenmarketed as an anti-bullyingprogram,focusedonassistingLGBTstudents, but the programs claimswarrantcloseexamination.

Ratherthanfocusingongivingkidsthetoolsforemotional intelligenceoraddressing problem behaviours, theprimary focus of the program isnormalisingcertainsexualpractices.

$8 million of Federal taxpayer funding

Todate$8millionoffederalfundinghas been assigned to this radicalprogram, with Victorian Labourpledging $1 million extra to theprograminthatstate.

By joining the coalition, theschool is making a statement, acommitment says the website.SSC schools agree to build as c h o o l t h a t i s f r e e f r omhomophobic and transphobicbullying,that'ssafeandinclusiveforallstudentsandstaff.

Inreturnforthecommitment,schools receive professionaldevelopmentforstaff,aswellasarangeofresourcesandadvice.

National Safe Schools Framework

TheSSCprogramhasbeendesignedto fit within the CommonwealthDepartmentofEducation'sSafeSchoolFramework.

The Framework is essentially aresource for schools that provides avisionandsetofguidingprinciplestoassistschoolstodevelopstudentsafetyandwellbeingpolicies.

The guiding principles of the SafeSchoolFrameworkmakenomentionoftheneedforaffirmationofsexualityorlifestyle, although there are somereferencestohomophobiaandlinkstogaymental health groups on the SafeSchools Hub resource website. Themajority of the material on thefederally fundedwebsite is of amoregeneralnature.

Coverage of the SSCTheVictorianmodelwasnationally

launched in Melbourne on 13 June2014, under the name Safe SchoolsCoalition.TheprogramisnowpresentinVictoria,NewSouthWalesandSouthAustralia.Thereareplanstorollouttheprograminotherstatesin2015.

Australians, which is the nationalconvenerof theprogram,will receiveeight million dollars of funding fromthe Commonwealth Department ofEducationoverthenextfouryears.Thiswas a commitment of the previousCommonwealth Labor government,however Commonwealth EducationMinister,ChristopherPyne,hasagreedtocontinuethefunding.

The Victorian program (SSCV) wasfirstfundedbyLaborin2010.Afterthechange ingovernment inVictoria, theCoalition continued the funding in2011.

VictorianLaborhasalsoannounceditwillincreasethefundingforSSCVtoonemilliondollars.Nowthatithaswonthe election in Victoria, this willbecomeareality.

Additional funds for content andteaching aids have also been raisedthroughcrowdsourcing.Aclevervideocampaignentitled,AllofuswasusedtoraisemoneyforvideoresourcesforSSC and raised $7,996. These videosfeature stories from homosexual andl esb ian teenagers des igned toencourage high school children tocomeoutabouttheirsexuality.

your childs teachers and school principal.

2. Express your concerns about the program to your local member of State Parliament, your local member of Federal Parliament, your States Upper House members and State Senators. Call their office and speak to their staff on the phone.

3. Is your child in a faith based school? Talk to your pastor, priest or bishop about the program.

4. Donate to the campaign by giving to the National Civic Council.
