Measurable academic and functional annual goals must be related to the needs described in the present levels of academic achievement and performance statements. Specifically, annual goals must be written to:

1. Include a measurable statement that describes what a student is reasonably expected to accomplish from the special education program within the time period covered by the IEP, generally one year.2. Enable the student to be involved in and make progress in the general education curriculum and to meet other educational needs that result from the disability or giftedness.3. Include the timeframe, condition, behavior and the evaluation procedure with performance criteria.

For students taking Alternate Assessment on alternate academic achievement standards, each goal must have at least two objectives.Objectives must include a statement of how far the student is expected to progress toward the annual goal and by what date.

For purposes of determining the need for extended school year services, for each student with a disability, the IEP Team must identify at least one critical skill area that is needed for the student to maintain levels of performance. A critical skill is denoted by marking an annual goal or short term objective with an asterisk.

View Archive

When the Draft item is chosen, a table containing a link to a pdf file of the most recently saved Online draft will open. It will be important on this screen to note the password appearing in the far right box of the table, as this password must be entered on the next screen in order to proceed. Once the password is noted, the user may click on the blue link to open the next window where the password is entered into the text box. The user will then need to type in the appropriate password to verify their access rights. This action will open the draft. To print this document, use the normal steps beginning with the file button in the upper left of the window. Note the options to designate printer and pages as appropriate. As with all printing of pdf documents individual pages can be designated.

To begin documenting Mastery Progress, the user must first choose a student from the student listing and, then, select the last finalized IEP.

To enter progress codes and notes, locate and click Mastery progress on the IEP menu. After Mastery progress has been selected, the user is shown all of the areas of possible goal development.

Click on an area in which the last IEP has goals that need progress monitoring. The user is shown a list of goals for the corresponding category. In the last column an Evaluate button may be selected to begin entering progress codes and notes.

An example has been provided in the English Language Arts area.
