1 This figure represents the number of awarded positions available to be filled in the 2013 - 2014 program year. For AmeriCorps VISTA, this represents the actual number of VISTAmembers in active service.

2 This figure represents the maximum potential value of Segal AmeriCorps Education Awards that can be earned by AmeriCorps members serving in Indiana. The award can be used inany state to pay for college, graduate school, vocational training, or to pay back student loans. The education award total is included in total CNCS funding.

3 AmeriCorps National figures may include national programs headquartered in the state and/or operating sites of national programs that are headquartered in other states. Fundingreflects the estimated proportionate share of the national grant associated with operating sites in this report. Some national organizations do not report operating site data, or itwas not available at time of publishing, so figures may not reflect current conditions.

4 The service location total may contain multiple counts of unique locations where multiple CNCS programs are operating.5 As part of its public-private partnership approach, CNCS requires grantees to leverage additional resources to strengthen community impact and increase the return on the federal

investment. This figure reflects non-CNCS cash and in-kind resources that CNCS grantees and project sponsors have committed to raise to support their programming activitiesacross the state.

Since 1994, more than 13,000 Indiana residents have served more than 17 million hours and have qualified for Segal AmeriCorps Education Awards totalingmore than $40,020,000.

National Service Impact in Indiana

Report ran on February 24, 2014 Page 1 of 1

Metro United Way provides services to seven counties including 3 in Southern Indiana. On March 2, 2012 5 counties in Southern Indianawere devastated by a F4 tornado. Days later, Metro United Way set up a Volunteer Reception Center (VRC). NCCC has since sent 4 teams towork with Metro United Way. NCCC teams were essential in opening and operating the VRC during the first few months after the tornado.Corps Members gained knowledge of disaster response work and communities’ stages of disaster recovery; learned how to speak tosurvivors and deploy volunteers, and learned how to set up work deployment and progress tracking systems. NCCC staffing at the VRCprovided over 5,000 interested volunteers a better experience as they assisted in rebuilding the surrounding communities.

AmeriCorps NCCC

VISTA sponsor Trustees of Indiana University, Bloomington, Indiana deployed 14 fulltime members and 10 VISTA summer associates in highimpact activities which fostered  innovation and entrepreneurship in meeting national anti-poverty goals.  VISTA members engagedcommunity volunteers who performed more than 2,000 hours of service. These efforts resulted in 1,496 individuals provided with financialliteracy education and/or employment services, 5,415 individuals demonstrated improved academic performance in programs supported byVISTA members, and  $56,000 in resources including 1,480lbs of food were generated.

AmeriCorps VISTA

RSVP sponsor,  the Area Agency on Aging engaged 460 volunteers in Healthy Senior Independence Services serving more than 1,200seniors, many who are low income and homebound, helping them stay in their homes and remain as independent and active as possible.Volunteers provide a menu of direct services for seniors including companionship, mental stimulation, light exercise, safety education, cleaning, and meal preparation in the Bloomington and Ellettsville, Indiana communities. All senior clients reported an increased ability tomaintain their independence as a result of the services and 100%  reported an overall increase in their safety and quality of life.

Senior Corps

The Local Initiatives Support Corporation (LISC), an intermediary grantee of the Social Innovation Fund, is growing Financial OpportunityCenters – a workforce development and asset-building model that boosts earnings, reduces expenses, and coaches low-income families onhow to make better financial decisions – to reach 7,500 total participants. In Indianapolis, LISC has six nonprofit subgrantees receivingtotal annual grants of $802,000 which they match dollar-for-dollar. A rigorous evaluation will provide greater evidence about the model’simpact on employment, earnings and savings.
