Conference Objectives

As a result of attending this conference, participants will be able to: • Identify three or more strategies for effectively implementing a full

continuum of integrated approaches to reduce barriers to learning.• List three challenges to implementing evidence-based practice and

programs in school mental health and identify at least three strategies to overcome them.

• Define the concept of family-school-community partnership and be able to identify three action steps to building a shared agenda.

• Develop written achievable strategies for program evaluation, focusing on outcomes valued by youth, families, and school and community stakeholders.

• List at least three strategies to build policy support for school mental health at the local, state, and/or federal level.

Juanita Cunningham Evans Memorial Award

• Ongoing memorial to Juanita Cunningham Evans who was instrumental in the development of the CSMH

– Annual award to be given to an individual who has significantly impacted the advancement of school mental health policy, research, and/or practice.

– Nominations for this award should be external (i.e., no self-nominations and no employee of the CSMH)

– Include a one page description of the nominee’s contributions to enhance policy, research or practice in school mental health.

– The winner of the award will be recognized and honored at the conference and will receive one free conference registration for an individual to attend the conference.

Youth and Family Partnership Award

• One exemplar school district, organization, or school mental health program that effectively partners with youth and families in delivering quality school mental health programming will be honored.

– Nominations for models that encompass clear frameworks/approaches for youth and family engagement, involvement, and partnership in school mental health are encouraged.

– Nominations should include a one page description of the nominee site’s successful partnership efforts.

– Letters of support from youth and/or families, as well as other types of documentation that provide evidence for the success of the partnership are encouraged.

– The winner of the award will be recognized and honored at the conference and will receive one free conference registration for an individual to attend the conference.

Thought Leader Forum: Sustaining Our Community of Practice Approach

As the IDEA Partnership approaches its last year of funding, the CoP meeting will have a specific purpose: 

• To ascertain the interest in the CoP strategy. • To determine if we will reconstitute to preserve the

convening role around school behavioral health in states and across states.

• To design how this will happen and who will take leadership roles.

• To plan with existing centers and services to integrate this approach into their work.

Thought Leader Forum: Sponsorship

Sponsorship in the meeting will differ from the past meetings:

• We will partially fund participation as we are able with the remaining funds. • We ask that only state teams and organizations with a

serious commitment to the CoP strategy seek funding support from the IDEA Partnership

• We can provide registration and a $300 reimbursement of expenses, with receipts for:

• two individuals from each state team• one representative from each practice group.• one representative from each national organization
