BACKGROUND
RAPID GROWTH
The1980’s
and
TRANSFORMATION
In the
IT SECTOR
DEMAND
The Gap between DEMAND and SUPPLY
was quickly EXPLOITED by some Private Institutions
SUPPLY
BACKGROUNDThe1980’s
The Govt.. of India recognized the enormous potential of the private non-formal sector and decided to use their resources meaningfully
i.e. with quality-assurance
The1980’s
BACKGROUND
Saw the formation of aNational Working Groupunder the aegis of the
All India Council of Technical Education( A I C T E )
BACKGROUND1989
Limited number of seats available in formal institutions
SITUATION ANALYSIS
Due to operational constraints, flexibility in the course content, is not possible to update the syllabus at a pace compatible to the advances in this area
RECOMMENDATIONS
Use infrastructure of Private Sector to conduct standard course laid down centrally
Grant accreditation to select institutions to create distinction between good and the bad
Accreditation to be granted on the basis of performance of students in centrally controlled examinations and infrastructure maintained by these institutions
RECOMMENDATIONS
To give credibility, the scheme to be implemented by Department of Electronics, Govt.. of India and the examinations to be conducted by an independent party.
Conduct courses at four levels, viz..O - FoundationA - Advance Diploma
B - Graduate C - Post Graduate
Training to be imparted at various levels of skills spanning from Console operator to System Manager / Administrator
