PRINCIPAL’S REPORT Welcome to Week 9! It has been a very busy few weeks since our previous newsletter. Semester 1 Reports Currently, I am reading through all the Year 7-11 Semester 1 reports and it is an enlightening experience which I am thoroughly enjoying. These reports will be posted out before the end of this term. Staff Professional Learning We are committed to developing teaching and learning to bring 21st century learning to light at Narromine High School. Staff are currently participating in a program with Charles Sturt University to identify key elements enabling all Key Learning Areas to have a shared focus. This focus will then guide our professional learning. School Uniform Many thanks to our parent community for their continued support with the school uniform across each year group. When you look out across the school, it’s wonderful to see students in the correct uniform. I am asking all of the parent community to please support the school’s procedures and ensure that your child follows the uniform expectations. If you require support to purchase school uniforms please do not hesitate to contact the school. Keep in Touch If there is something you would like to see from our school please do not hesitate to contact me to discuss. Parents have also been sent information to register for the Sentral App and Parent Portal. Can I urge parents to register, as this is another form of communication we can utilise to inform and distribute information. Congratulations Finally big congratulations to all students who have featured on our Facebook over the recent weeks. Many sporting endeavours as well as cultural and academic activities and achievements were posted. Overwhelmingly, students at Narromine High are respectful, responsible and seek success for themselves. It is a pleasure to be able to work at this school. Principal Phil Rufus NETBALL NSW SCHOOLS CUP Earlier this month Narromine High students hit the courts in Dubbo, participating in the Netball NSW Schools Cup. For some students it was their first game of netball. It was great to see some new faces in the Years 7/8 and Years 9/10 girls’ teams. Senior student Josie organised the junior side and Erin Payne assisted the senior team. Well done to the Years 7/8 boys who stepped up and played in the Years 9/10 team. It was a tough ask but they never dropped their heads. It was also wonderful to see the older boys mentoring the juniors. Ms Trudy Althofer Netball coordinator RUGBY SEVENS TRAVEL TO COONABARABRAN On Wednesday 13 June Narromine High School attended a Rugby Sevens tournament/development day at Coonabarabran. NHS participated in the Under 15’s boys and girls and Open boys and girls. All students played well and represented the school with pride. Standouts in defence on the day were Ella Hutchison,

Sam Green, Elias Kennedy and Tamika Knight-Murphy. Brilliant tries were scored by many students, with Stan Hanrahan, Lakeisha Hull, Emily Walsh and Victor Kennedy being notable. Most of our teams played without reserves and after four or five games were understandably exhausted. But they all soldiered on. There were approximately eight schools from the Dubbo and Tamworth regions in attendance. Narromine Open boys finished first, and our other teams finished third in their respective age groups. Well done to Mr Smyth, Miss Payne and Mrs Middleton who supported and coached players on the day. Mr McCabe Maths/PDHPE

CSU MY DAY BATHURST

Last week Year 11 and 12 students braved the very cold conditions in Bathurst to experience what it would be like to be a student at Charles Sturt University. Students took part in practical activities and information sessions in their chosen course and also general information lessons about living on campus and university life. Students were able to choose from a variety of courses including Business, Nursing, Paramedics, IT, Exercise Sports Science, Teaching and Engineering. The day in Bathurst was a fantastic opportunity for students to start exploring their post school options. Mrs Jan Davison Careers Adviser

PARENT PORTAL INFORMATION The school is launching a new Parent Portal which is replacing our School App. You will need a valid email address and will have to create a password. In the last mail out you received a letter detailing how to register and also gives you an access key which is for your use only; it cannot be used for anyone else to register. If you have misplaced this letter please contact the school. The Parent Portal will enable you to see your child/children’s timetable, attendance and historical school reports. You will also be able to view the latest school newsletters, other documents and letters which will keep you informed on events happening in our school. As we progress, we will launch other areas of the portal to assist you to support your child/children’s learning.
