Project Name: Improving indigenous community food security
1. SITUATIONAL ANALYSIS
Pir Thnu commune, located in Snoul district in Kratie province, consists of
6,716 people (3370 females) from 1427 households. In comparison with
other communes in Snoul district, the number of poor households in Pir
Thnu was notably high. The commune data in 2010 showed that (419
(39%) was classified as the first poor and 283 (26.4%) as the second poor).
Eighty percent of the people in the commune mainly rely on agriculture
production for their livelihoods.
The people in the commune faced the issues of low agriculture product
yield as a result of animal disease, lack of appropriate techniques; lack of
soil quality and this cause them food insecurity. The 2010 commune data
illustrated that in the commune only 1.85 tons of rice yield per hectare
was produced. Fifty percent of the rice yield produced in the communities
lower than the one with appropriate technique application. Traditional
methods of rice cultivation have been identified as a key barrier to
increasing rice yield.
To address these community issues, the organization which is operating in
two provinces of Stung Treng and Mondulkiri province extended its target
area to work in Pir Thnu commune in Snoul district, Kratie province,
proposing project activities to dress the issues above.

3. MONITORING AND EVALUATION
The project implementation will also be supervised by donors, based on
regular local communication and coordination and personal visits to the
project area. Ongoing technical monitoring of project activities will be
conducted by organization staff on a monthly basis. This involves
facilitating review meetings with relevant community groups, partner
organizations and the project team, as well as field visit to project
recipients to ensure that activities are being implemented professionally
and are aligned with meeting project objectives.
After completion of the project, the project team will organize a project
reflection workshop to listen and seek recommendations from the target
communities for the project’s next phase. The program team will be
responsible for leading the reflection of the program. The results will also
be used to determine the impact of the program.
Monitoring activities will include, but is not limited to:
Training staff on indicators and monitoring;
Monthly/semester/annual reports with staff observations relating
directly to project indicators; and
Field monitoring and meetings with management staff.
