    All they wanted for Christmas was a Nantucke

    home and in January thirty-one happy shoppers got their wish ansix more purchased land to build theirs on. While January had 13%fewer transactions and 14% lower dollar volume than Decembe2013, the months 225% increase in transactions and 125% increase idollar volume, over January 2013s real estate activity, was a greaway to start the new year.

    39 closings, 15 accepted offers and 11 price adjustments resulted imore than $62.5M in real estate changing hands in January. Anothe$34M placed under agreement and $24M receiving accepteoffers...made January 2014 the busiest January since 2008 when 3sales resulted in more than $69M in volume.

    While December 2012s sales frenzy dramatically impacted Q1 201results, January sales activity from 2008 through 2013 has average

    only 15.6 sales and $20.3M in volume causing most to believe might not be the best time to buy or sell property on Nantucket. Lamonths dramatic increase in sales, good number of offers anproperties moving into agreement were not only welcome, but a sigthat the best after-Christmas sales dont necessarily happen in malls.
