Section B© Educational Publishing House Ltd 2010 4 Assessment Task 3 Reading and Writing

I think my job is important because I am responsible for the safety of

people in a swimming pool, a water park or at a beach.

Many people think that the main duty of a lifeguard is to save

someone who are drowning. Actually, we do not want to see anyone

having any kinds of accidents. Therefore, the major part of my job is

to prevent accidents from happening. We watch swimmers carefully

and will stop them from doing anything that might cause harm and

danger to themselves or others.

Lifeguards have to be good swimmers and get a first aid certificate. If

you would like to be a lifeguard, you must complete lifesaving

training and pass some exams. Through training, we learn to use

equipment such as rescue boats and rescue boards.
