ICT at Forest Hill School We have been delighted with the ICT delivery as part of the Lewisham BSF. Our vision was to give our students and staff access to an industry-standard system that was robust, reliable and adaptable. Our providers – VT4S – have lived up to our expectations. The impact the IT system has already had on teaching and learning is immense. Staff training has been a vital component and this has really worked well. It is an absolute delight to see every teaching area use the new IT facilities. Collaboration across the school between different subject areas had taken off. Peter WalshHeadteacherForest Hill School

InnovationNew technology appeals to young people. New technology heightens the appeal to using the technology
and thus the learning experience. In using technology young people are enabled to search for,
share, develop and use the information gathered in many ways not previously experienced.
Interactive white boards when introduced were a technological breakthrough. Now widely used the skill in keeping the technology fresh is not deemed to be within ICT but students see the skill of the Teacher to apply the technology in the learning environment.
Introducing new and innovative ideas through ICT to the Education environment will not change the traditional role of the Teacher and the Student but will change their operational interaction.
Technical Changes supporting innovation
Technology changes and the ongoing development of technology in our everyday lives are supporting this opportunity to change.
Elenox are one of the first suppliers in the ICT market to introduce a PC with a list price of £100. Others are expected to follow.
Using Video over IP connectivity over the Internet is a reality, allowing low / no cost video conference possibilities over the Internet.
With the introduction of the Central Server Farm on the 21st April 2008, the availability of access to information, applications and services has become a reality on a 7 x 24 x 365.
There have been 4 possible solutions devised for the delivery of a digital classroom solution provided. These should be reviewed and developed as part of the overall plan.
