COMMUNICATION ABOUT LEARNING and Home Groups for 2017 All students will have an envelope tomorrow with a hard copy of their progression points. This needs to be read in conjunction with the fortnightly comments on Yammer. If you are having difficulty with accessing Yammer please contact the school so we can help you as you are missing out on vital information about your child’s learning and progress. There also will be a letter providing you with your child’s homegroup teacher for 2017. When making up class lists we take into consideration many factors and do our best to accommodate requests. Please prepare your child in a positive manner over the holidays for 2017. SCHOOL CAPTAINS Thank you to this year’s Captains – Ethan, Chloe, Tori and Ayden. These young people have done an amazing job in welcoming visitors, showing short listed staffing candidates around our school, running assembly, workers of the week, ANZAC Day commemorations and the list goes on. Next year’s Captains will be announced at our final assembly on Friday at 2.30pm. Well done to all 21 students who tried out for School Captain – you certainly did yourselves and your families proud and we are sure there will be many more opportunities in leadership in 2017. FACEBOOK Please stay tuned to Facebook for any updates and if you don’t have Facebook there is a feed on our School Website. FAREWELL TO OUR GRADE 6STUDENTS Goodbye and best wishes to our Grade 6 students moving onto Secondary College. Good luck with your future. Remember to use your voice. One last thing….. Once A Pointer Always A Pointer We hope you have a fantastic break with your families.

LIBRARY NEWS

As 2016 comes to a close I would like to thank each and every one of you within our school community for the support I have received over this last 12 months. Your support has been in various forms, bringing in plastic bags,

donations from your own library as well as keeping a check on your child’s library borrowings. I would like to thank in particular Heather Lambert who has volunteered her time on most Mondays to cover books. It is a very

time consuming task and I have been most appreciative of her help.

One of the highlights of our library year was Book Week. Our Book Week was very successful because of the wonderful support you as our community gave to the activities throughout that week as well as our Book Fair

(which was our most successful to date). The money raised from book sales enabled me to purchase many new books that our students had placed on the library’s “wish list”.

I would like to remind all students that books borrowed from the library need to be returned as soon as possible

so that I can have the library ready for next year.

Since my last article in the newsletter the library has been fortunate enough to have received donations of books from Henri Baldock, Layla Parker, Lochie and Makenzie Holy. Tuesday I received the novel the 78 Storey

Treehouse from Charlie Butcher whose family donated the book to the school as a big thank you to Miss Manna and Miss Driscoll for their support throughout 2016. It is wonderful that we can place donated books into our

library and I know the students are very appreciative. I thank also the parents who have replaced books that have unfortunately been lost by their child.

As is usual most years several students have shown interest in the library and how it is organised. As I have been

part-time they have been a wonderful support and help and I feel that it is fitting that their efforts are acknowledged. So a big thank you goes in particular to Sofia Ghidinelli-Matheson, Emily Barling, Kiera Young,

Emily Burns and Caterina De Maria.

To the Grade 6 students who are moving onto secondary college – goodbye and my very best wishes to you for your future. To those students who are leaving us to move elsewhere goodbye and good luck and I hope that you

will have very happy memories of your time spent in the library at Nichols Point.

Have a Merry Christmas everyone and may 2017 be all that you wish.
