    WHAT IS A CHART GRAPH?

    A chart/graph

is a graphical or visual representation of a

worksheet data. It represent tabularnumericdata, functionsor

some kinds of qualitative structure and provides different info.

    Line Graph

    - graph in which the dependent variable is continuous. The Pointsare plotted using x- and y-components. The points are connected

because the observations are NOT independent. (the next valuedepends on the previous value)

    Pie Graph

    - graph in which the dependent variable is NOT continuous. It

usually presents data as a part of a whole or as percentages.

    Histograms

    - A specific type of bar graph. The graph in which the dependentvariable must have a natural order that can be grouped into defined

chunks. The bars must always touch. The Y-axis is usually apercentage or a frequency (count).

    Scatter Plots

-graph in which the dependent variable is continuous. The

points are plotted using x- and y-components. The points are NOT

connected because the observations are independent (the nextvalue does NOT depend on the previous value). It uses a best-fit line

    or curve to show relationship.

    PROCEDURES IN

    CONSTRUCTING A

    GRAPH CHART ON MS EXCEL

    Steps:

    1. Enter information into a spreadsheet. Columns will be vertical

on the graph and rows will be horizontal.

    2. Highlight the cells you want to graph.

    4. Choose the kind of graph you want to use. Your choice largely

depends on what youll be using the graph for and what kind of

information you have. To compare how things have changed over

time, a line graph may be ideal. To display growth, a bar or column

graph works nicely. Evaluate your information and how you want

    to present it.

    5. At this point, you have a basic chart. Now its time to spruce it

up a bit. Add a title by clicking the Chart Title box at the top. You

can change the colors using the options at the top, name each axis,

and move or change the legend, which is located at the bottom.

The goal is simply to make it very clear to read. A good graph is

useless if it cant be understood easily.
