Why?
There are several reasons why we should have a reading nook...★ Having a special place to read, encourages the love of books★ Reading is a quiet activity and so a quite spot is needed without
distractions★ Sometimes kids need a bit of space or quiet time, having a nook
is a perfect place for them to take time out BUT never use as a punishment spot
★ There is something magical about getting lost in a book, having a spot that will encourage that will help your kids become life long book lovers
★ It is telling other members of the family that you don’t want to be disturbed

What you need...
★ A space to make the reading nook. Doesn’t need to be huge, even the smallest apartments usually have an unused corner or a bit of dead space somewhere.
★ Something comfy to sit on, beanbag, chair, rug and cushions…★ Someway to store the books, basket, low shelves, gutter rack…★ A blanket or quilt to snuggle under★ Adequate lighting★ Optional - other quiet time activities / music player
Keep it simple, clean, uncluttered. Think of calming colours rather than in-your-face bright colours

Reading Nook ExamplesI would love to do this in our home but the builder said it would cost us a lot of money to be able to put the swing chair in *sob*
The books take up very little space utilizing a corner which may not have gotten used otherwise
Natural light from the window
Can’t tell from the picture but a lamp to use when it is dark might be good to add

Another idea is to have a teepee or tent
Small mattress, cushions, basket of books, fairy lights...what’s not to love?Plus you can make it more boyish or super girly or keep it neutral!
