“My Energy Use” Home Audit WorksheetUse your “My Energy Use” Web portal to better understand your household energy use and identify ways you can conserve energy and save money!*

Getting started: How do you use energy throughout the day?“My Energy Use” will display your household energy consumption by the hour, day and billing period to help you identify patterns and pinpoint which household activities contribute to high energy use.

Baseload is a measurement of the minimum amount of electricity that your house requires to operate. Turning off home office electronics when not in use, or using a power strip to conveniently turn off computers, monitors, or chargers can reduce your baseload use.

My energy use over timeCompare your estimated cumulative use of electricity for the following time periods. Current use refers to the current billing period and previous use reflects your previous billing period. Knowing how you are using electricity at various times of day can help you better understand and manage your overall use.

Find opportunities to save energy and money

Now, let’s identify the hours in the day when you use the most energy:

From the “Energy Use” tab, click on the Usage (kWh) and Day buttons to view your energy use throughout the day. Record your energy use for the time periods you use the most energy and circle the hour with the highest use.

Hour Use

Example: 7pm Example: 2.30 kWh

Now that you’ve identified the time of day and hour with the highest consumption, experiment with conserving energy during these times and see if you can lower your energy use and bill.
