In my survey I discovered that the majority of my target audience enjoyed seeing music live, attending gigs and festivals.

My magazine will be majority based upon a wide range of alternative music, starting quite light at indie such as the 1975 and the neighbourhood, then more heavy alternative rock e.g. You Me At Six or pop punk such as Blink 182, even skater punk e.g. Gnarwolves. I would like to attract a teen audience by adding up and coming bands within this wide range of genres.

Musicians are often seen advertising specific clothing brands such as Dr Martens or specific band merchandise.

I have also stuck with a black and white theme because despite the risky alternative genre, black and white are often worn by subcultures involved with these genres. black and white is often regarded to as sophisticated and could add that feel to my magazine.

Body art is also often a large part of punk subcultures/musicians. The more tattoos the better! Pop punk cultures especially are very known for bright coloured tattoos such as these.

Musicians of these genres are often conveyed as raw, grunge, a little rough around the edges. This is what makes them unique and stand out, yet black and white filters are often used on photographs which can help add professionalism.

The music is mainly male dominated but this helps attract female audiences due to physical attractions. On the other hand the music style is very different. Voices are quite unique so that could be the main reason for alternative genres rising in popularity.
