Why we chose this idea

Our idea to improve to school grounds is to make music trees. We would like to make instruments to hang/stick on the trees. Each class will have a music tree of their very own, and make their own things to hang on them.

We feel that our idea is unique because it’s music outside, with homemade instruments and it hasn’t been done in the schools history. We believe that children will benefit because of the fact that they can play music at playtime and have fun with it! Our plan is to use the trees around the amphitheatre because there are eight trees, one for each class.

Why are we placing them in the Amphitheatre? We are putting the Music Trees in

the Amphitheatre for several reasons. No.1: It would be relaxing if we put the Music Trees are in the shade. No.2 : When there is a play, we could play the Music Tree’s instruments in the background. No.3 : Because there will be one for each class, the class will have to tend and care for the tree. No.4 : If anyone is lonely they can get a musical instrument and start playing it. No.5 : Music is a calm sound, so it will make the Amphitheatre a calm area. No.6: It’s encouraging people to play music, and possibly take music lessons.

Strengths & Weaknesses

strengths weaknessesOne for each class so you don’t have to wait for a tree

If it rains and the instruments get wet, it will ruin the paper instruments

Makes music fun If someone takes down an instrument they might not be able to get it back up

Project to make class instruments It could cause disturbances during plays

Makes lessons fun because we’re doing it outside

More music lessons

How have we included everyone? In our group, we have done a number of surveys, both at home and at school. Our first survey was are parents survey which included a number of questions about the music tree.

Our second survey was our whole school survey, in which we asked the children in our class (KR) what they thought.

What our parents thought

We wrote a survey to ask our parents of what they thought of our ideas. This is what we found:

Q1 what do you think is the best idea and why? Most parents said music trees because it’s a unique Idea.

Our research

our group have been endlessly looking for homemade instruments and it is extremely hard yet we have found a homemade guitar made of cardboard and elastic bands we have also found a mardi gras castanets which you make with some paper plates, paint, glue and milk bottle tops first you paint the castanets and leave to dry then once they have dried you stick some milk tops with pda glue then leave to dry again!

We have also found some homemade trumpets which you paint then add sequins (epic). The last but not least instrument we have found is THE SHAKER!!!!! Which is just a drinks bottle with rice or pasta inside.
